For Your Shower

Here's my challenge card for this week's "Pastels" challenge on the DRS Designs Blog. I know my pink fits, but my blue is stretching it a bit! I didn't have enough baby blue card stock, so "what you see is what you get," as they say! Regardless, it turned out to be a cute baby shower card, don't you think?

All of the stamps on this card are by DRS Designs and were just released over the last few weeks:
Umbrella (817G)
For Your Shower sentiment (835D)
Double Chevron Card Edger (904P)

I colored the umbrella with Copic Markers and then sponged light blue ink around it while it was in a Nestie die.  For the background panel, I stamped the solid Chevron with light blue and light pink ink, and the pink panel was embossed using the Swiss Dots Embossing Folder.  In the empty space in the bottom right corner, I stamped the shower sentiment.  This stamp is actually a one-line sentiment, but to fit the area where I wanted the sentiment to go, I cut my cling-mounted stamp so that each word was separate.  Then I arranged them on an acrylic block and stamped them as shown. (I love the versatility of cling-mounted stamps!)

Don't forget to head over to the DRS Blog and check out the Pastels challenge.  This weeks prize is a set of 3 stamps that include the adorable Playful Pups (1110H) and 2 sentiments to go with them.

Thanks for stopping by!

Best Wishes on Your Shower

As someone who makes handmade cards regularly, I really despise having to buy them.  I like to be able to plan ahead and make one ahead of time when needed.  When I saw that DRS Designs was adding some wedding/baby shower themed stamps, I was over the top excited! These stamps were definitely missing from my collection and I was always buying cards for these occasions

I stamped up this card to give to one of my friends for her Wedding shower.  It uses 2 of the new shower stamps--the Umbrella (817G), and the Rain Down Greeting (837F). (The For Your Shower Greeting (835D) is also new.)  I stamped the Raindrops (1012H) in the background.  The umbrella was colored with Copic Markers, fussy cut, and then adhered on to a scalloped circle that was embossed with polka dots. The center panel was lined with cardstock that was punched with a border punch.  Then after stamping the sentiment on it the bottom portion and adhering the image to it, it was adhered to the card front with foam tape for dimension.  A bit of purple and white twine embellished it nicely.

Thanks for stopping by!

For Baby Girls

It's been awhile since I've created baby cards and it works out perfectly with this week's challenge on the Craft Your Passion Blog.  It's a "Blast From The Past" challenge to use any of their previous challenges. I've selected challenge # 112 For Baby. This challenge is being sponsored by DRS Designs and you could win a $10 DRS Designs Store Voucher.  Can you say "FREE" stamps?!?!? Gotta love that! Enter to win HERE.

Both of the baby cards I made are for baby girls! I created my own Diaper Pin (354A) background paper using dark and light pink inks to use on both cards. This one was for a good friend who just had a baby.  I made this to go with her gift.
The sentiment is DRS Designs Ribbon and Curls New Baby Greeting (1111G).

This other card is for my Sister-In-Law who's baby
shower is soon.
The greeting I used on this one is the Diapers, Rattles, and Blankets Baby Greeting (251G).

Thanks for stopping by!

Sweet Baby Girl

After a fabulous girls weekend with my stamping friends, I'm glad to report that I made 14 cards while I was there! Some are for magazine submissions, but many of them you'll get to see here on my blog very soon. Today I have a card to share with you that I made for a stamping friend who we threw a surprise baby shower for this past weekend. I'm really happy with how it turned out and think it's one of my favorites!

I used this adorable Teddy Bear image from Holly Berry House and colored it with Copic Markers. Since she knows that she is having a girl, I chose to color the bow pink. I love the adorable Ribbon and Curls New Baby sentiment (111G) from DRS Designs and thought that it was perfect with the Teddy bear image. The finished card size is 4.25" x 5.5". I hope you enjoy seeing this card as much as I enjoyed making it!

 Have a great day!

Baby Shower Thank Yous

Last month when I went on the stamping weekend with the girls from the Stamp Shack, they all threw me a surprise baby shower. I was very, very surprised and shocked to learn that they had been planning it since January!  With all that has been going on, it's only taken me a month to finally make and write out their Thank you cards!

One of the girls gave me a cute set of Inkadinkado clear stamps called "Baby Love" and I thought the little swaddled bunny was perfect for their cards! I made 13 of them and had to mail them so I didn't want to add any extra embellishments. I colored the image with Copic Markers and then paper pieced the blanket after I ran it thru the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder to match the pattern I used on the background panel.  The "Thanks" sentiment I used on the bottom is by Serendipity Stamps.

To all of you Shackapalooza girls who follow my blog, thank you again for the surprise shower and for all the goodies you all so generously gave me! I greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness!

Jennifer

For Baby!

Oh my how time has slipped away from me over the last few days! Sorry about that, but life has been hectic.  Hubby has been home for the last week on "vacation" and it has really interrupted my stamping and blogging routine, but I have to admit that I'm enjoying it! :-)

Well...It's a girl!

I created this card for a co-workers baby shower that I attended this past weekend. It was great being able to create such a very girly card rather than a unisex card since they already know what they are having.

I colored this adorable Inkadinkado image with Copic Markers and added Yellow Stickles to the Stars on the blanket.  The star pattern paper I used in the background is by K*I Memories from a long time ago.  This paper is one of those oldie, but goodie items.  I think I got it on clearance and I have a ton of it.  So, glad I was able to put it to use and I think it goes perfectly with the stars and moon theme of this baby card!  I stamped the words "For Baby" using individual letters from a Technique Tuesday stamp set.   I love how this card turned out!

Doesn't that teddy look warm and cozy!?!?!  It makes me want to just snuggle right up next to it!
Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope you enjoyed it!

Cute and Girly!

DRS Designs is sponsoring this week's A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge

Cute and Girly
is what it's all about!  To me, that means lots of pinks and reds, fun ribbon, rhinestones and of course a cute and girlie image!

What could be more cute and girlie than this adorable Happy Hat Girl (H646) from DRS Designs' Cutie Pie Collection?  I colored her with Copic Markers.  I also created my own pattern paper by stamping the Diaper Pin (A354) image repeatedly with red ink.

The sentiment I used is a portion of the Wrapped Warm and Snug New Baby Greeting (H131).
Make sure to run over to the A Spoon Full of Sugar Blog to check out the fab prize you can win from DRS Designs just for playing along!  Good Luck!

Thanks for visiting today!

Wrapped Warm and Snug!

There's definitely a stork in the area, cause I'll be needing quite a few new baby cards very soon.  I decided this weekend to make a few and here's the first one I made.

I created my own background paper by stamping the Diaper Pin stamp (A354) from DRS Designs repeatedly with light blue ink.  The Wrapped Warm and Snug sentiment (H131) is also by DRS Designs, which I split up by moving "congratulations!" to the bottom right corner of the card.

This card was decorated with baby appropriate elements: polka dot ribbon and bow, a real safety pin and some baby buttons!

Happy Monday to you and thanks for stopping by!

Jennifer

A Baby Card for the Creative Card Crew!

Yesterday began the Baby & Children's Card Challenge over at the Creative Card Crew Blog. DRS Designs is sponsoring this challenge--participation may allow you to win a prize from DRS Designs! How about $15.00 off your next order?!?!?!

Stamps: DRS Designs- G341 Brush Baby Buggy, B753Cute as a Button, P631 Open Plaid Background
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, SU! Pretty In Pink, Cameo Coral
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by American Crafts
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol, Nesties, Ribon By Making Memories, DMC White Embroidery Floss, Button By Favorite Findings, SU! Ticket Corner Punch
Finished Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

I've noticed that often when I make a baby card, I tend to always put plaid on it. Not quite sure why I think babies & plaid go together, but it works! This card is no different from the other baby cards I've made here and here.

The stroller image, the plaid, and the sentiment are all by DRS Designs. I colored the stroller with pencils and blended the colors with Gamsol. I created the plaid myself using DRS Designs Open Plaid Background stamp and stamped it with pink ink. Since I used the "Cute as a Button" sentiment, you know I just had to add a button embellishment to it as a finishing touch!

Well, stay tuned to see lots of Halloween coming up here on my blog. Things are finally starting to slow down a bit for me this week & I'm heading to my stamping room right now!

Have a great day!

Anyone can play along in the challenge and we hope you will! There are no limits on time or supplies. Please post a direct link to your challenge project from either your blog or an online gallery to the Sunflowers and Dragonflies Blog, so we can view it. If you upload to an online gallery, please use the keyword S&D3.

I turned the sketch sideways for my challenge project. Isn't this baby moose image from Sunflowers and Dragonflies adorable? I just love those little wobbly legs and that safety pinned diaper!

I colored this Cutie with Prismacolor Pencils and blended the colors with Gamsol. I sponged pink ink around it while it was still in the Nestie die, layered it as shown, and assembled it according to the sketch. The background layer was texturized with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and I added pink satin ribbon layered with a Prima Flower and a yellow button to dress it up.

This Time, A Baby Moose!

As I've mentioned before, I'm on a roll with baby cards lately. After making this card, I assure you that I'm officially "babied out" & it will probably be a while before you see me make another baby card! LOL!

This Baby Moose image is from Sunflowers and Dragonflies. Isn't this little moose just the cutest ever with wobbly legs & it's diaper pinned on? I made this a unisex baby card by focusing on light green and yellow colors. I colored it with Prismacolor Pencils and blended the colors with Gamsol.

I decorated this card using my Cuttlebug & Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, 3 kinds of ribbon, and some buttons!

Stamps: Sunflowers and Dragonflies- Baby Moose
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by The Paper Company, American Crafts
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol, Cuttlebug and Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Yellow Ribbon by Offray, C & G white Sheer Ribbon, and striped ribbon by American Crafts, Green Button by Fancy Findings, Yellow Button by Sticko Adhesive Button Ups

For Baby!

Happy Friday! Today is Fun Filled Friday and Kimmy challenged us to make baby cards. I'm still playing with the Dustin Pike, Jenny Giraffe image & the "Cute as a Button" sentiment from DRS Designs, and I couldn't help but show you another baby card I made using these 2 stamps for today's challenge.

I used the latest Splitcoast Stampers sketch challenge (SC227) for the layout. The giraffe image is colored with Prismacolor Pencils and blended with Gamsol. I inked the edges with pink ink and matted it as shown using the Fiskars Treading Water Border Punch to fit the scalloped border on the sketch.

The horizontal panel in the background was created using the Open Plaid Background stamp and light pink ink. No need to buy expensive designer paper when you have this stamp on hand--it's reusable & you can create the plaid in any color you want! I love how it looks on this baby card!

I stamped the "Cute as a Button!" sentiment in a darker shade of pink & cut it out using my SU! Word Window Punch. I layered a paper flower, and a yellow button behind it for some added dimension.

Stamps: DRS Designs- Jenny Giraffe (G859) , Cute as a Button Sentiment (B753), Open Plaid Background (P631)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, SU! Pretty in Pink, and Pixie Pink
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by American Crafts
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol, Fiskars Treading Water Border Punch, Prima Flowers, Fancy Findings Buttons, SU! Word Window Punch
Finished Card Size: 4.25" x 5.75"

Here are the other 2 baby cards I've made using the same 2 stamps in case you missed them.

If you need to make a baby card soon, I hope I've inspired you to order the Jenny Giraffe and the "Cute as a Button!" sentiment from DRS Designs. As you can see there is so much you can do with these 2 stamps, whether you need one for a baby girl, a baby boy, or for when the baby's gender is unknown, these 2 stamps have you covered!

CPS 114 Cute As A Button, Take 2

A new week means a new sketch over at the CPS, Card Positioning Systems Blog. I created this cute card for this weeks sketch challenge & for my Girlfriends new baby boy. I'll be meeting him soon & I needed a card to go with my gifts. I thought this sketch was perfect for the occasion!

After making this other baby card last week, I once again used the new Dustin Pike image, Jenny Giraffe, by DRS Designs for this baby card along with their "Cute as a Button" sentiment too. Jenny was colored with Prismacolor Pencils and blended with Gamsol. I used this technique to cut her out & emboss the edges using my Nesties in one pass through my Cuttlebug. Before I took it out of the Nestie die, I sponged blue ink around the image, creating the frame look.

The rest of the card just follows the sketch, but I used the SU! Word Window Punch to accent the sentiment. I layered it on a yellow button & then set it inside a Prima flower. Then I actually sewed the yellow thread in the button holes & adhered them on both sides of the layered sentiment.

Stamps: DRS Designs- Dustin Pike's Jenny Giraffe, Cute as a Button Sentiment
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, SU! Bashful Blue & Ballet Blue
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by The Paper Company, Bazzill
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol, Nesties, Prima Flowers, Fancy Findings Buttons, SU! Word Window Punch, Ribbon by Making Memories, Spiral Clip by The Paper Studio
Finished Card Size: 5" x 6.25"

Well, after having a day off yesterday, it's back to work today for me. It's my Monday! Ugh!

Stay tuned for tomorrow to see another episode of my Sketch Challenge Wednesdays.

Hope you have a great day!

Cute as a Button, or a Giraffe!

Well, tomorrow is the big release day over at DRS Designs! All of the cute animal images drawn by Dustin Pike that you've been seeing throughout the week will be available for purchase.

I just couldn't resist today & I just have to show you another one!

This cutie is Jenny Giraffe!

I think the sentiment speaks for itself, but she is cute as a button, don't you think?!?

I colored her with Prismacolor Pencils and blended the colors with Gamsol. Then I cut her out and layered (and layered) her with coordinating cardstock cut out with my Nesties. I pop dotted her on the first layer. I added some matching satin ribbon & some buttons to go with the sentiment from my stash. Pretty easily and quickly, now I have a baby card ready to go!

Stamps: DRS Designs- Jenny Giraffe (available for purchase on 5/2/09), Cute as a Button Sentiment (B753)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black

Blue Baby Buggy!

Happy Monday Everyone! (Ugh!) Did you have a good weekend? My DH was out of town, which gave me plenty of time in my studio and time to also hang out with my sister. We shopped like crazy Saturday afternoon! We're leaving for Cancun this Saturday, so we out shopping for Summer clothes. I hit the jackpot at Old Navy--they have some of the cutest tank tops there!

My alone time this weekend also gave me some time to work on several projects that I'll be showing you very soon. One of them included last weeks SCS Sketch Challenge-SC213. I used it to create this Baby Boy card. This card is larger than I would have liked--I should have cut down the width on the vertical column a little, but overall I think it's precious. Just wish I knew of a baby boy on the way so I could give it to someone!

The plaid in the background was hand-made by me. I've made my own DP again with the Open Plaid Background stamp by DRS Designs. I love the plaid on this card! I think it is a perfect fit!

Stamps: DRS Designs- Brush Baby Buggy, Open Plain Background
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink in French Blue, Su! Ballet Blue
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by American Crafts
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol, Cuttlebug and Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Offray White Satin Ribbon, Nesties, Fiskars Treading Water Punch, O'Scrap Brads, Sticko Button Ups in Baby Blue
Finished Card Size: 5.5" x 5.75"

Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of time this week for chit-chat and long computer sessions. I must stay focused so I can show you all that I have planned throughout this week, and plan some things for next week while I''m gone.

So, I'm off and running!

Until next time...

She's due February 23rd and she knows already that she's having a little girl. The sentiment and both images are from the latest release by DRS Designs. You can see their entire stamp catalog here.

I colored the baby Buggy image with Prismacolor Pencils and blended the colors with Gamsol. The diaper pin image and sentiment were stamped with pink ink.

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

Well, after a crazy, hectic weekend out-of-town, I finally found a few hours to play in my Studio--however, I never made it there until 9:30 pm yesterday. I left home Friday morning for work (the early shift!) at 5:30 am and then DH picked me up from there to head to Sault Ste Marie, Michigan for a weekend of snowmobiling. We didn't get home until 7:30pm last night! So, I'm feeling very behind without having a full weekend to catch up on my DT & cardmaking requirements. I have so many deadlines approaching and I still have to keep that regular 40 hour work week. (Work is just so inconvenient sometimes, you know? But I'm very thankful I have a job right now!) Plus, a New Year's resolution too--running 3 miles a day--wish me luck! So, I'm up early to do that before I go to work today. Good thing about working the afternoon shift, I can always pack my morning full of things I have to do, or sleep in and be very lazy all before work! I often plan my studio times before work some days too.

I'll post some fun Snowmobiling pics later today for you all to see. But for now, Here's the card I was able to whip up last night...

This card perfect for the arrival of a precious baby Boy. Of course it could easily be made with shades of pink for a little girl or yellows and greens if a baby's gender is unknown. I actually have a baby shower to go to in February and "it's a Girl!" So I'm sure you will see another version of this card in pinks in the near future!

Both the sentiment and the safety pin image are new releases from DRS Designs. As you can see I used my New Treading Water Fiskars border punch as well. I just love it!

Stamps: DRS Designs- Safety Pin image, Now I Lay me Down To sleep Sentiment
Ink: SU! Ballet Blue and Brocade Blue
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by The Paper Company
Accessories: Making Memories Ribbon, Cuttlebug and Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Martha Stewart Border Punch, SU! Notched Corner Punch, SU! Horizontal Slot Punch
Finished Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

Now that the holidays are really over, today starts the first work/school week of the New Year.

Hope today isn't too crazy for ya!

Happy Monday!

Jennifer

Sketch Wednesday Card-Sweet Dreams!

So, as promised, No Christmas cards for today! I need a break from the Red and green & glittery snow. For today's Card Sketch Wednesday Challenge, I decided to break out this Baby themed stamp by Inkadinkado. I think this stamp is absolutely precious! And what's more perfect is that it can be Unisex! Great for those baby surprises!

So, did you get a chance to use this sketch?

I started first by coloring this image with Prismacolor Pencils and blending the colors with Gamsol. Next, I used my Nesties to mat the image as shown.
I created the card base from dark yellow cardstock to measure for a 4.5" x 6 card. I layered it with dark pink cardstock after I used the SU! Ticket Corner Punch in the top corners. Next, I cut my designer paper to cover the bottom portion of the pink cardstock. I apologize for not knowing who makes this paper. This was a 12 x 12 sheet that I picked up at a LSS and of course, I must have used the corner piece that gives the name/brand of the paper on another project. If any of you recognize it, please leave me a comment & let me know!

I covered the dp seam with sheer white ribbon and then laid pink and white plaid ribbon on top of it. I also created a bow from the plaid ribbon and adhered it to the middle.

I place the matted image in the center above the dp and Shimmered it up a bit. I painted the moon and the stars in the blanket with Beeswax Shimmerz and added some Cotton Candy Stickles to the scallop. Finally, I added some pink bling to the Ticket Corner punches to finish it off.

Stamps: Inkadinakado
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink in Yellow Ochre
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Cardstock by DCWV and The Paper Company, Designer Paper-unknown
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol, Nesties, Cotton Candy Stickles, SU! Ticket Corner Punch, Me and My Big Ideas Icon Stickers, Sheer Ribbon by C & G, Plaid Ribbon by Making Memories, Beeswax Shimmerz

This is the first of my Card Sketch Wednesday Challenges for November. Please join me every Wednesday for a new Sketch! Make sure to subscribe now so you don't miss any!

Remember you have all month to complete this challenge. Just make sure you come back to this post and leave me a comment with a link to your card, so I can make sure to enter you in the Blog Candy Drawing.

I'll be waiting to see it!

Happy Wednesday!
(Yeah, the weekend is almost here! Can you tell I'm counting down?)

Smiles,
Jennifer
