Welcome to Ink N Scrap Habits!
I've created this blog to share my life & love of paper crafts with others. You will read bits and pieces of what goes on in my world and be able to see my paper craft creations! Please leave me a comment if you see something you like. I'd love to hear from you!
For some reason whenever I see a lighthouse, it makes me think of my Dad. I guess this is why I tend to go with beachy, seaside scenes when I pick my Father's Day cards, and that's exactly how I felt when I received the new Lighthouse stamp (461G) from DRS Designs new release. Of course, I had to use it to make this year's Father's Day card!
The colors I chose to make this card with were inspired by the color challenge on the DRS Designs Blog this week. Here's the inspiration photo:
The light house image was colored with Copic Markers, and I matted it with a red, scallop rectangle. The back ground was embossed with the Anchor Embossing folder and trimmed in red. I used a turquoise cardstock base and stamped the "On Father's Day" Greeting (034D) in the lower left corner. I assembled the background as shown and I embellished the matted image with a navy banner, layered with a smaller pink banner before adhering it into place just off center. As with all my cards, I know my Dad will love this!!!
Curious about this Lighthouse stamp and the others from this release? Go check them out on the DRS Designs website! they are now available for purchase!!!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!

Today I'm sharing a little fishing humor with you. This could be easily turned into a man's Birthday card or Father's Day card for next year if you needed one, simply by changing the sentiment or verse on the inside of the card. All of the stamps I've used here are by DRS Designs.

Making the background was a little tricky, but so worth the effort. I prefer unmounted rubber stamps and I was able cut the word border away from the image on the Fishing Square (1093L) stamp. I then arranged them on my acrylic block, one line above the next, and stamped it repeatedly until it was the size I needed for the background. I distressed the edges to give it a rustic kind of look. The Jumping Fish (325L) was colored with Copic Markers and then fussy cut. I popped it up with foam tape for some dimension as shown on the card front. Below it, I fussy cut out and adhered the Fishing Rules (315K) in place. It was colored with Copic Markers as well. A decorative corner punch, some gold brads and beige raffia made this card complete.
Well, that's it for today.
I hope you'll be back soon to see more of my work!
Have a great weekend!

It's Thursday already and there's a new challenge on the DRS Designs Blog. The theme this week is The Great Outdoors!
This is the card I made to knock out 2 birds with one stone--the DRS challenge and Father's Day. My Father-In-Law hates to mow the lawn so I thought this would be perfect tor him. I know he'd much rather be sitting in the shade on a sunny day with a nice cold drink in his hand.
For the little scene I created on the card front, I stamped the Brush Lawn Mower (866K) off to the right and stamped the Easy Grass Background (059E) along the bottom. Then I shaded in the area using Copic Markers creating a grass texture. I sponged blue ink around for the sky background, and then I stamped, sponged, and matted the Broken Mower Greeting (863G) in the empty space to the left of the mower. I adhered the card front to a 5.5" x 4.25" red cardstock base and then stamped the On Father's Day (034D) sentiment at the top to finish it off.
I hope you enjoyed seeing this card as much as my Father-In-Law appreciated it!
Thanks for stopping by!

What could be more perfect than a shirt and tie card for Dad this Father's Day? I've seen these origami cards in galleries in the past and had to give it a try. I created the card below using this tutorial.

Hi Everyone!
For starters, I must apologize for having to turn on word verification. I've been getting tons of spam comments over the last 2 days and I'm hoping this will slow it down or perhaps actually stop it. I promise I won't keep it on for long. Please keep leaving comments for me and bear with me thru this difficult time. Thanks! Now,onto something much more fun...
Since Mother's Day has passed it's now time to think about Dad! I'm loving DRS Designs Argyle Background (438P) and the Solid Diamond (441A) that I used to create my own pattern paper on this card.

The sentiment I used for the focal point of my card is the Father's Day Greeting (782G). I sponged it with blue ink while it was still in the Nestability die and matted as shown. I used the last line of the greeting for the tag sentiment by stamping each word under each other rather than keeping it in one line. The tag was adhered using a brad and I used twine to create the tassel. Finished card size is A2- 5.5" x 4.25."
Hope you have a great day!
Thanks for stopping by!

Father's Day is right around the corner...are you ready? Here's the card I made for my Dad.
This Stampabilities Beacon of Light stamp is one of my favorites for creating a masculine card. I colored it with Copic Markers and inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distressing ink. The sentiment tag I created was made using a stamp from The Angel Company. I sponged it with distressing ink while it was still in a Nestie die to give it the white frame look. I thought the twine and eyelets embellishments gave it a very nautical feel. Would you agree?
Thanks for stopping by and for leaving me a comment. I greatly appreciate them and enjoy reading every single one!
Have a great day!

I am just head over heels for DRS Designs newest stamps! The characters that just came out in their Retirement collection are so much fun to play with! I made this card for the White Space challenge over at the 365 Cards Blog that DRS Designs is sponsoring this week.
The challenge is to keep all of the decorations on your card towards the black portion of the sketch and keep the white space free. Play along in any of their challenges this week and you could win a $15 DRS Designs store voucher! (see below for more info)
I couldn't help but use Rascally Russell (777M) for a Father's Day card! Just look at that old guy dance!!! I colored him with Copic Markers and then added the "Happy Father's Day" portion from the Ten Mile Fathers Day Greeting (280G) to the empty space at the bottom. The background was stamped with the Polka Dot Background (688P) in Apricot Appeal ink. A layered photo corner embellished with twine and a matching brad made this card complete!

Happy Father's Day to all you Dads out there!
Here's the Father's Day card I made for my Dad today.
He loves Golf, so I knew I had to make a card using one of the many golf images from DRS Designs. I chose the Golf Icon image (H973). I stamped it twice and colored one of them fully with Copic Markers and then only the greens, flag and sun on the other, so that I could pop-dot them on the first image. I used just the "Happy Father's Day" portion from the Ten Mile Father's Day Greeting (G280).
Hope you all have a wonderful day celebrating with all the Dads out there! Don't forget to tell him how special he is to you! Smiles,
Jennifer
