Save The Earth!

Hi Everyone!

I got creative in making this card for the current DRS Designs blog challenge. The theme is "Tasty" and I know a few people in my family would agree that beer is exactly that!

I used the brand new World Map Background (572P) as my focal point and colored it with Copic Markers. I fussy cut it out and adhered it onto a piece of Ivory card stock. I created the card base from tan card stock to measure for an A2 size card. I distressed the edges with brown ink and stamped the Only Planet With Chocolate greeting (806D) but I omitted the word "chocolate."  I replaced it with the word "beer" from the Beer Is The Answer (486G) stamp. I stamped the Small Beer Mug (528C), colored it with Copic Markers and fussy cut it out to use as an embellishment. I assembled the card front as shown and my card was complete!

Peeps!

Hi Everyone!

Here's my take on the "All Ears" challenge over on the DRS Designs Blog.  I thought this new Simple Easter Bunny (347E) was the perfect pair to compliment the Favorite Easter Peep Greeting (352F), and since it had ears, it qualified for this challenge as well.

I colored the bunny with Copic Markers--RV10, RV02 and RV23. It was fussy cut out and then layered on light purple cardstock that was embossed.  I split up the greeting to accommodate my layout.  I love how the banner really emphasizes the word "PEEPS" in the greeting, especially since it's a pun resembled by the bunny image.  I love the font too!  It's sort of hard to see, but the yellow cardstock used for the card front was stamped repeatedly with the Bunny Ears (307C) to add some texture to the background. Some violet plaid ribbon, a decorative border punch and a few white pearl embellishments made this card complete.

I'm so excited that Easter and warmer weather is right around the corner!

I hope the weather starts to warm up soon in your neck of the woods too!
Have a great day!

Jennifer

With A Cherry On Top

This cute Valentine's card I have to share with you today fits the requirements for three challenges! I didn't really plan it that way, but that's how it worked out!

*The layout follows last week's Splitcoast Stampers Sketch Challenge SC524.

*The "Cherries" inspiration photo from this weeks Cupcake Inspirations Challenge was the basis for my card theme. DRS Designs is their sponsor this week and 1 lucky winner will be picked from all the challenge participants to win a $10 store voucher for stamps at DRS Designs online catalog!!!

*Finally, the challenge this week on the DRS Designs blog is "So Shapely!" You are to use at least 2 different shapes on your project.  I went with a circle and hearts.

Both the Cherry Top Cupcake (463E) and the Sweet Valentine's Greeting (257D) are by DRS Designs.  The image was colored with Copic Markers.  The card front was embossed with a heart embossing folder and then I inked it with pink ink to make the hearts stand out. Then, I randomly added small heart die cuts to some of the embossed hearts and embellished them with a small pearl in the center.  Next, I assembled the rest of the layout as shown. The greeting banner was adhered with foam tape to pop it up for some added dimension.  Finished card size is 4.25" x 5.5."

Hope you enjoyed my card today!
Thanks for stopping by!

Non-traditional Thanksgiving Greeting!

A couple weeks ago I created today's card for the DRS Designs "I'm so hungry" blog challenge, but due to a nasty computer virus I was unable to get it uploaded onto my computer to share.  I'm glad that's all in the past now because you can only do so much on a smart phone and I'm happy to have my computer back!

When I first sat down to create this card, I really wasn't giving it much thought and as this card progressed it turned out to be a Thanksgiving greeting using non-traditional colors! I really liked the way the olive green, mauve pink, and the yellow color combination came together.  I first colored the Indian Corn (151H) with Copic markers. Then, the image was masked and light brown ink was sponged around the image while it was in a Nestability die. On the pink cardstock in the background, I stamped the new Silhouette Cornstalk (179B) repeatedly using Versamark ink to create my own pattern paper. The One Line Thanksgiving Greeting (841D) was stamped above the image, and I used a portion of the new Thank You Lord Greeting (165G) for the sentiment below it. The finished card size measure 4.25" x 5.5" and other than the knot in the ribbon, this card is nice and flat for mailing. Have you made your Thanksgiving greetings to send out yet?

Thanks so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to stop by today. I appreciate your visit!

Until next time,

Jennifer

Autumn Greetings

Hi Everyone!

Today I'm showing off one of DRS Designs newest Autumn stamps, Indian Corn (151H). Lately, I've been all about diagonals and I've incorporated them into the last few cards I've made-- this one is no exception!

I started by coloring the image with Copic Markers and then fussy cut it out. I used Nestability dies to cut the oval and scalloped pieces of card stock out. The oval was embossed with an embossing folder to add some texture to the card front. I love this look and need to remind myself to do it more often! I think it's unique and it really makes the eyes focus on the image that lays in front of it. For the background, I created my own pattern paper by stamping the Splatter Background (855H) repeatedly using yellow, green, and orange inks to match my color scheme. I also embossed the green strip of cardstock that was used to hide the seam between the 2 background layers. The Small Autumn Greeting sentiment (422B) was stamped just below the divided border with black ink and for the final touch, 3 green rhinestones were placed in the lower right corner of the card front.

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your visit!

A Toast To You!

Hi Everyone!
Time is just flying by and it's Thursday again! The last Thursday in May to be exact! The new challenge on the DRS Designs Blog is to add holes to your project.  Here's my challenge entry for this Holey Moley Challenge. I used the Splitcoast Sketch challenge #487 for the layout.

For the center of my card, I used just a portion of the Pour Me...Bottle and Glass (075H) along with the Toast To You Greeting (046D). The wine glass was colored with Copics and then sponged with purple ink while it was in a Nestie die. I used the Bunch of Grapes (061D) to create my own pattern paper for the left side panel.  It's hard to see but I added pierced holes all the way down along the right side of the black strip.  To complete the look, I embellished the greeting banner with a button and twine bow. I love the way the  It coordinates so well with the colors on this card!

Hope you like it and thanks for stopping by!
I appreciate your visit!

Men Are Like a Fine Wine

Hi Everyone! Hope you're all having a great week!
We had so much rain this past weekend that it was practically a complete wash-out! While I'm eager for nice, Spring weather, I enjoyed staying in and playing with some of DRS Designs newest stamps! I'm happy to share this funny 'Men Are Like Fine Wine' card with you today!

I created the Bunch of Grapes (061D) panel first, by stamping them repeatedly and coloring them with Copic Markers.  The Men Are Like Wine Greeting (049F) was stamped in purple ink and then light purple ink was sponged over it while it was in a Nestie die. I used the Tiny Bubbles embossing folder for my background. I thought it almost resembled grapes and was a nice complement to the theme of this card. Dark purple cardstock was used to form an A2 size card, which measures 5.5" x 4.25."

Just a reminder, today is the last day to sign up for DRS Designs "Grad School" blog challenge. One lucky winner will be chosen to receive a $10 store voucher to DRS Designs! Will it be YOU? Check out this post for all the details and to link your card up to enter.

You Improve With Wine

It's Thursday already and another new challenge has been posted on the DRS Designs Blog. This week is a color challenge to use purples and greens. I'm showing off some new wine-themed stamps on my challenge card.

All 3 of the stamps I used are brand new and now available for purchase:
Bunch of Grapes (061D)
Pour Me...Bottle and Glass (075H)
Wine/You Improve With Age (067F)

The images were colored with Copic Markers and the Pour Me image was inked with purple ink while still in a Nestie die to get the white border around it.  Wouldn't this make for a sarcastic birthday card?!?!? Now I just need to find the right recipient! Ha!

Enjoy your day and make sure to check out the challenge if you get a chance!

Valentine Sweetness!

Hearts, Flowers, and Chocolate and Love. Isn't that what Valentine's Day is all about? Here's a card that expresses all of that!

All of the stamps I used on this card are by DRS Designs. I played around with the heat embossing technique and the Chocolate Chip Background (361H) to make the banners I used on the card front. I stamped the Valentine's Hold For You Greeting (184F) in the lower left corner and dressed it up a bit using the hearts from the Fall Into Chocolate Greeting (338F). I colored them red with Copic Markers and then added Diamond Glaze to them to make them shine. Festive and cute, would ya say?

I hope your staying warm and getting inky today!
Thanks for stopping by!

Poppin' Holiday

It's challenge Thursday again on the DRS Designs Blog. In honor of their 100th challenge the theme is "Anything Goes!" It's so easy to play along this week and maybe you'll be the lucky winner!

Here's the card I've submitted for the challenge. Since I've been busy making Christmas cards this is the one I've entered. It's perfect for any popcorn lover!

I started with a red cardstock base that measures 4.25" x 5.5". Then I used yellow cardstock for my card front and stamped it with the Popcorn Background (1124H).  I used a white Prismacolor pencil to shade the kernels white. Then, on a white piece of cardstock I stamped the Poppin' Holiday Greeting (032F) in the upper left corner. The Bowl of Popcorn (1131G) was stamped on another piece of cardstock, colored with Copic Markers and then carefully cut out. I adhered it in the lower right corner as seen with foam tape to add some dimension. Then I stamped some kernels from the Popcorn background to fill in the empty spaces. This piece was matted with red cardstock, decorated with a black wire clip and red sparkly ribbon, and then adhered to the center of the card front.
Does it make you want some yummy, buttery popcorn right now?

I hope your holiday preparations are going well! Thanks for stopping by!

Gingerbread Glitter

Well, the Christmas holiday season is in full swing! Are you ready? Today I have another Christmas card to share with you.  This was made for the Glitter It Up challenge that can be found on the DRS Designs Blog this week.

This adorable Gingerbread Boy (040E) and the Magic of Christmas Day Greeting (196H) are some of my favorite Christmas stamps from DRS Designs.  I used the Double Chevron Card Edger (904P) to decorate the background of the card front since it matched the chevrons on the Gingerbread boy.

Here's a close up of the glittered up cutie himself! He was first colored with Copic Markers, carefully cut out, and then I ran him through my Xyron Sticker Maker upside down so that the adhesive was applied to the front of him.  Next, I placed him in a small bowl filled with fine glitter to achieve this look.  I love the sparkle this adds to my card!

Sometimes it can be really difficult to create a holiday card without using some kind of sparkle.  I bet you have one you can enter into the Glitter It Up challenge right now! Go link it up on the DRS Blog for a chance to win your choice of 2 stamps from the DRS Designs catalog!

Happy Holidays to you!

Stay Off Your Seat

We all love the food that Thanksgiving brings but along with it come plenty of yummy calories! However, as mentioned in this greeting from DRS Designs, hopefully they all stay off your seat! LOL! We can only hope though, right?

This CAS card was created for this weeks DRS Designs Blog Challenge, "Who's A Turkey?" All of the stamps I used are by DRS Designs. The Turkey Dinner (501F) image was colored with Copic Markers. The Stay Off Your Seat Greeting (795G) was stamped on the vertical panel, and "Happy Thanksgiving" (841D) was stamped on the card front above the image. Finished card size is 5.5" x 4.25."

Hope you'll join the challenge this week and show off your turkeys!
Have a great day!

My Favorite Vegetable is...

...Candy Corn!

Would you have ever guessed it? I bet you were thinking broccoli or some other green vegetable.  I know this was totally UNEXPECTED--that's because I created this for this week's DRS Designs Blog Challenge which is to create something UNEXPECTED!

This card was pretty quick to create. One of things that helped make this quick is the design of the Candy Corn Background. By stamping it in orange ink, half of the coloring is already done for you. All I did was color the bottom of each candy piece with a yellow Copic Marker and my background was finished --easy, peasy as they say! The background used on the top of the card front was made simply by stamping the Spatter Background with black ink. At times, I stamped it off as well so some of the spatter dots are a bit faded.

Well that's it for me today.
Until next time,

Smiles,
Jennifer

Happy Fall Y'all!

Wow! What a chilly start to the day today. It was only 48 degrees when I got out of bed, but the sun was out too, shinning brightly! I know the official start to Fall is still a couple weeks away, but with temps like this I say, "Happy Fall Y'all!"

While browsing challenge blogs the other day, I was inspired to play along with CASology's "Apple" challenge. It's perfect for this time of year and I knew DRS Designs had a perfect Apple Trio image (350G) to go with it. On a side note, I'm really trying to make cards that are more of the Clean and Simple look, so I took the plunge and went for the challenge.

I colored the apples with Copic Markers and carefully fussy cut them out. I put them aside while I worked on my card front. I started with khaki cardstock and stamped "Happy Fall Y'all!" (635B) near the top. Then, I embossed it with the Swiss Dots folder and matted it with red cardstock. I tied a simple red bow with twine and wrapped it around the top, under the sentiment. Next, I added the apple image near the bottom using foam tape for some dimension. The card front was adhered to a dark brown A2 cardstock base and my card was complete!

I'm ready for apple pie, cider and donuts! Are you?

Super Sweet Candy Canes

Hi Everyone!
Hope you're having a great Labor Day weekend! I'm finding this a bit bittersweet--sad that this means Summer is almost over, yet excited that Fall and the holidays are just around the corner! So, today I'm posting a Candy Cane card to sweeten things up a bit!!

I love candy canes around the holidays. However, I'm not a fan of the peppermint ones. I like the Jelly Belly flavored ones. We even decorate our Christmas tree with them. Do you have a favorite kind of cane?

I love all the design elements on this card.  I think it all came together nicely! I started by coloring the Candy Canes (552H) with Copic Markers.  I used the Open Plaid Stamp (631P) to create my own pattern paper. Then I matted it with green cardstock and a decorative red border, and added a few green brads to help bring out the green in the candy canes.  The top was embossed with the Swiss Dots Embossing Folder and I added a red decorative border to that as well.  Finally, the bottom of the card base was stamped with the Super Sweet Christmas Greeting (140E) and my card was complete!

This was created for the Plaid Challenge on the DRS Designs blog. You can check out the challenge HERE and enter to win some great DRS freebies too!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you'll be back soon!

When Life Gives You Lemons

Hi Everyone!
Here's another card I made for this week's Things That start with "B" challenge on the DRS Designs blog. The Lemonade image (121H) depicts a refreshing Summertime "Beverage", right? Well, since Beverage start's with "B", it qualifies for this week's challenge!

I simply colored both images with Copic Markers and paired them with the Life Gives you Lemons (110K) sentiment.  I altered this stamp a bit to accommodate my layout by leaving out the lemons and using the shot glass and salt shaker part of it as an embellishment. As you can see, I've also split up the wording.

Hurry, you have until 6pm ET today to enter for your chance to win a great package of stamps from DRS Designs!

Thanks for stopping by!
Good Luck!

So Sweet Strawberries

What could be better than eating, drinking, and being merry? Well that's what the new challenge on the DRS Designs Blog this week is all about!  To enter the challenge, your project needs to have foods or drinks on them.

I stamped up and colored these yummy Strawberries (291K) for the focal point of this "sweet" card. They are perfect tor this time of year! Best part about this card is the brainstorm idea I had to use the Raindrop Background (1012H) upside down to look like strawberry seeds! I love this idea and am certain it's one I'll use again! The "You're So Sweet" sentiment (546D) was popped up to add some dimension to the card front.

DRS Designs is giving away a $10 store voucher for this challenge. Link your card HERE to enter for a chance to win.
Good Luck!

Just Poppin' In

It's Thursday already and that means there's a new blog challenge over at DRS Designs! This week's theme...Bows! I made this fun popcorn note card for the challenge.

I used the Bowl of Popcorn (1131G) as the focal image and colored it with Copic Markers.  The pattern paper was made by stamping the Popcorn Background (1124H) repeatedly and the kernels were highlighted with Copic Markers as well to make them look like it was topped with movie theater butter, YUM!  I used a border punch on the card front to shorten it up a bit and a red ribbon was added above the decorated edge with a bow.  The bottom of the red card base was stamped with the beginning portion of the Just Poppin' In Greeting (156D). The inside of this 3.5" x 5" note card reads "to say Hi!"

Jelly Beans!

Happy Easter!

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and if you are off of work or school this week, enjoy that too! I unfortunately won't be enjoying either.  I have to work today and the rest of this week, but it's ok! I have some time away from work coming up very soon and I'm spending it with a bunch of crafty friends--nothing but stamping for 4 whole days!  More on that later. For now how about this fun Jelly Bean Easter card?!?!?

All of the stamps I used on this card are by DRS Designs.  I started by stamping the Full Belly Easter Greeting (230H) with dark purple ink.  While it was in a Nestie die I sponged the inside edge with pink ink. For the bottom panel, I stamped the Jelly Bean Jumble Background (241D) repeatedly and colored them with Copic Markers in fun Spring-time colors to match.

I also created this card with the DRS Blog challenge in mind this week to use paper flowers.  I added a purple Prima flower for the challenge that was embellished with a light pink button that was threaded with purple and white twine bow.  The shimmer purple cardstock base measures 4.25" x 5.5."

I hope you have fun hunting for eggs and lovin' up the Easter Bunny!
Thanks for stopping by!

Thinking Of You!

The new challenge on the DRS Designs blog that started today is "Baskets."  I chose to use the Picnic Basket (1104K) for the main focus on my card. I colored it with Copic Markers, masked it, and sponged blue ink around it while it was in a Nestie die.

Then, I created my own coordinating paper by stamping the Checkerboard Background (342P) in red to look like the table cloth seen in the image and then I stamped the little ants from the right side of the image randomly over the checkered area. For the sentiment banner I used a portion of the Sitting Thinking Greeting (398F). The 3 elements of my card front were arranged as shown and adhered on to a 5.5" x 4.25" red cardstock base.

Thanks for stopping by!

Smiles,
Jennifer
