French Horn

I'm still working on my Christmas cards, are you?
Here's one I made for this weeks "Sing It To Me" challenge over on the DRS Designs Blog.

The 3 stamps I used on this card are the Christmas Music Background (372P), Christmas French Horn (237K), and the Christmas Multi Greeting (341H).  The layout I used is inspired from this weeks Deconstructed Sketch challenge DS180.

The image was colored with Copic Markers, cut out, and then opposite corners were rounded before distressing the edges with brown ink. The background was made by stamping the Christmas Music Background and then distressing the edges of that as well.  Just one of the "Merry Christmas" versions was stamped from the Christmas Multi Greeting at the bottom.  I added a red scallop border to the top and then and a thin red ribbon embellished the bottom portion rather nicely. Red and green fishtail banners were added underneath the image for a little balance. I really like how this one turned out.  I hope you do too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Lavender and Lace

Hi Everyone!

I'm sharing a birthday card with you today.  I made this for the Lavender and Lace Challenge over at DRS Designs.

The background was layered quite a bit, but I made 2 of the lavender quarter panels stand out by stamping them with the Birthday Sheet Music (763P).  For the focal point I used the Funky Birthday image (494D) and popped it up on foam tape for dimension.

Of course to coorperate with the challenge I had to add a bit of lace.  I added a bit of lavender to the lace by threading it with purple twine and then adhering it along te bottom side of the Funky Birthday image as shown.  I added a dark purple bow to the center and then added a purple brad to each corner of the card front before adhering it to a dark purple cardstock base.

Hope you like it!

Jennifer

Birthday Balloons!

Not sure if this is a Michigan thing or if its world wide, but did you know there's a helium shortage? I learned this a little more than a month ago when preparing for my Son's first birthday party. I tried to order 2 dozen helium filled balloons several weeks before his party and I was informed of the shortage by several local party supply stores. All of them were unable to take orders prior to 1 week before the event because they weren't sure if they'd have helium to fill my request. I was shocked! How can you have a birthday party, especially a FIRST birthday party without balloons!?!? I guess this is another one of those things like water, natural gas and oil, that many of us take for granted. Once it's gone it's gone! Well, luckily for us, it all worked out and we had balloons for Anthony's first birthday party!

The Balloon challenge on the DRS Designs Blog this week reminded me of my helium dilemma. It looks like this Here For the Party Cutie Pie Kid (670K) had no problems getting helium for her balloon! LOL! I've also used several other DRS stamps to create this card: the Birthday Sheet Music (763P) for the background, the Easy Grass Background (059E) for the grass blades and the One Line Happy Birthday (250B) sentiment.

Is there a helium shortage in your area? I'm curious if this is worldwide or if it only affects the states.

Thanks for checking out my Balloon card!

Beat The Band Birthday Piano

Couldn't help but CASE this card from Chelsea (who saw it on Pintrest) for DRS Designs "Music For The Soul" Blog Challenge. It's perfect!

I added the upper portion of the soon-to-be-released "Beat The Band" Birthday Greeting (056G) on the front, and then added the rest of it, "It's Your Birthday," to the inside below the Birthday Sheet Music (763P).  I left just enough space to hand write a personal message.  Best part about this card is that it's quick and very easy to make too!

Have a great day!

Music For The Soul

Hi Everyone! Hope you're having a great day!
Today's post has a double meaning.  This card was created for this week's DRS Designs Blog challenge and it's a sneak peek for their new releases!

The theme for the challenge is "Music For The Soul."  Your card must contain something related to music, like music notes, sheet music, instruments etc.  It coordinates perfectly with the Marching Band Trumpet Image (056G) and Beat The Band Birthday Greeting (076E), both of which will be available for purchase very soon from DRS Designs.

I used the Birthday Sheet Music (763P) for the background and cut the band member out using anoval Nestabilities die.  I shaded around the image using blue ink while it was still in the Nestie die and colored it with Copic Markers.  I split up the sentiment to make it fit with my layout.

You can check out all of DRS Designs new releases HERE as soon as they become available.

Hope you enjoyed seeing my challenge card.  Thanks for stopping by!

Smiles,
Jennifer
