It's The Most Wonderful Time Of Year!

So, with a title like this I bet you think I'm getting ready to post another Christmas card, right?  I know you've seen nothing but Christmas on my blog since DRS Designs released their new Christmas stamps, but I'm actually going to change things up a bit!  The title of today's post refers to my love for the season of Autumn and everything that comes with--not for the Christmas song!

It felt so good to get my Fall and Halloween stamps out!  There's nothing that gets me in the mood to stamp more than these stamps! I used this weeks Splitcoast Sketch challenge SC298 for the layout on this card.

That cute doggie stamp is by Penny Black.  I colored it with Copic Markers and added Yellow Stickles to the Jack O' Lantern.  The "Boo" paper you see in the background I created myself.  The "Ghost face Boo" is by Stampabilities and the "Boo" alone is by Northwoods.  The "Spooky Greetings" sentiment is from Rubbernecker.

Stay tuned for more Fall and Halloween stuff coming very soon.  DRS Designs Halloween release is just days away!
Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great weekend!

Jennifer

This Little Piggy went to the Market and...

...it looks like He bought some flowers!

Welcome back to another episode of Card Sketch Wednesdays here, at Ink N Scrap Habits!

Here's this week's card sketch:

With this little piggy as the focal point in this card, I couldn't help but throw the nursery rhyme in the title of this post!

As you can see, this card could easily follow a Valentine theme, or Not! It is red and pink, but I purposely left out the hearts. Instead, I dressed it up with a little floral ribbon and aded a few little bling diamonds.

Stamps: Penny Black
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink in Lipstick Red
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by Bazzill and American Crafts
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol, Fiskars Leaf Border Punch, Fiskars Treading Water Punch, Hero Arts Gemstones, Ribbon-Jacquard Woven One Sided
Finished Card Size: 5 3/4" x 4 1/8"

I'd love to see what you come up with for this sketch. If you give it a try, make sure to leave me a link so I can look it up.

Can you believe the weekend is almost here! (Yeah!)

Thanks for visiting today!

Penny Black Frog!

Finally, I've finished my sketch challenge card, but it is a little different. It's not exactly like the sketch. My brain wasn't cooporating with me today, so this is what I've come up with.

See for yourself...

I colored the image with markers and matted it as shown.

I thought this sketch fit well for a tri-fold card. I created the card base from dark blue cardstock--it measures 5.5" x 11.5." I scored it at 2.5" and 7" to create the bottom and top flaps.

I decorated the bottom flp with 2 kinds of matching pattern paper and covered the seam with red ribbon. For an added pop of color I put Prima flowers in both lower corners with a yellow brad in each flower.

Here's the card fully opened. I was a little pressed for time today so I didn't decorate the inside. I'll do that when I decide to give it to someone.

Stamps: Penny Black
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, colored cardstock by Bazzill and The Paper Company, Pattern Paper by GCD Studios
Accessories: Ribbon by Bobbie M. Designs, Prima Flowers, Brads from Joann's Scrap Essentials

I hope you'll give this card sketch a try. Don't forget to link me up to your card if you do try it. I'd love to see see it and be able to enter you in my November Blog Candy Drawing!

Thanks for visiting. I appreciate you stopping by today.

Sketch Wednesday #8 Challenge Card!

Earlier today I posted the card Sketch Challenge below. Did you give it a try?

Here's my sketch challenge card! What do you think?

I know, I'm still on my Fall and Halloween kick. I promise the cards I post later this week will be a different theme! Hey, I couldn't help myself. I just participated in a Fall Halloween image swap on the Stamp Shack and this cute image from Penny Black was one that I received. It was begging me to color it up...so I did!

I colored this image with my Prismacolor Pencils and used Gamsol on parts of it, but I also tried out my new colorless blender pencil. I still need practice with that one. It's definitely a different type of blending, I'm just not used to it.

I used my Nesties to cut out the image and mat it a few times. I realized that my matting was going to cause me to make a larger than normal card if I was going to follow the sketch. This finished card measures 6 1/2" x 5 1/2." I added the square brads and then set it aside to work on my card base. The base itself is made from orange cardstock, and I layered black cardstock on top of it to help the patterned paper "pop." I adhered the matted image in the center and then created the side bars using black cardstock matted with yellow cardstock. I set the orange brads in place according to the sketch, and adhered the side bars on either side of the image. For a little extra "pop," I added Stickles to the pumpkin's eyes and mouth.

Stamps: Penny Black
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Charcoal Colorbox Fluid chalk
Paper: Smooth White Cardstock from Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by Paper Reflections and Bazzill, patterned paper by Heidi Grace Designs
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Prismacolor Blender pencil, Gamsol, Nestabilities, Golden Rod Stickles by Ranger, Brads from Making memories and Joann's Scrap Essentials

Ok, Now it's your turn...Let me see what you did with this sketch.

Please leave me a comment. I'd love to hear from you!

Smiles,
Jennifer
