Hello Everyone!
I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving and that your holiday plans are not too stressful yet! Today I'm sharing a Christmas card I made using the Giant Poinsettia (093M), which I haven't used in forever it seems. It is definitely one of my favorite flowers DRS Designs offers!
I colored this image with Copic markers and loved every minute of it! The way the leaves are drawn really shows off dimension when shaded. I matted the image in green and then added some yellow rhinestones to embellish the flower center. I stamped the Christmas Especially To You Greeting (618E) at the bottom of heavy, red cardstock for the card front. It was partially embossed with a polka dotted embossing folder above and below the greeting and then I scored a couple lines as shown to isolate the greeting from the embossed decor. The card base was made from light blue cardstock to form a 4.25" x 5.5" card and I assembled it with the stamped image centered in the upper portion and then adhered the card front to the card base. It was pretty simple overall and so very festive!
Thanks for stopping by today and enjoy your day!!!

For most of us, I'm sure sympathy cards are our least favorite to make. However, after a long battle with cancer, my best friends Mother recently passed away. I felt it was important to make her a card to send my condolences and today I'm sharing the Sympathy card I made for her.
The stamps I used on this card are by DRS Designs. I started by stamping the Brush Deepest Sympathy Greeting (588G) in light blue ink. It was cut out with an oval Nestability die and then matted with blue card stock cut from a scallop oval Nestability die. Next, I created my own pattern paper to decorate the card front. The Silhouette Branch Background (363H) was heat embossed on light blue cardstock using clear embossing powder. I then hand-cut the bottom scalloped edge and then layered it with white card stock cut the same way. The top of the white card stock was embellished using a border punch. A sheer white ribbon was tied across the middle, knotted on the left hand side, and then the matted sentiment was adhered in the center. Next, the card front was adhered onto a blue card stock base and three white pearls were adhered as shown in the bottom right corner. Finally, I decorated the inside a little bit by stamping the silhouette branch background with blue ink at the top and bottom edges of the white panel that was adhered inside.
It's little things like this that help us get through difficult times, and my friend was really happy to receive this card. I'm glad I took the time to make it.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

I colored this image again with Copic Markers, but this time I also added Stickles to the flower. I wish I would have used Stickles on my previous Happy Mail card, but I guess changing things up a bit is what makes each handmade card unique!
I kept my layout simple and started by stamping the card front with the Interlocking Flower Background (813H). Next, I cut a piece of black card stock to fit the left-hand side of my card. I punched one side of it with a decorative border punch, and then embossed it with a floral embossing folder. I added three thin strips of green card stock from the right-hand side and then added a light blue brad at the opposite end of each one. Finally, I adhered the matted image to the center and my card was complete!

I created this cute "Thinking of You" card specifically for the challenge. I used the new Happy Mail (429G) by DRS Designs for my focal point. I colored it with Copic Markers and matted it on black card stock. Next I created my own pattern paper by stamping the Splatter Background (855H) in light blue and green inks on white cardstock that was cut on an angle. I then added it to the bottom of a light blue A2 card stock base. I lined the top of it with a small strip of black cardstock and placed my stamped image on top, just off to the left side.
To embellish this card, I threaded a black button with green and white twine tied in a bow and added it to the lower right corner. On the top, I used a punch to create black and green paper tabs, overlapped them a bit, and added a light blue brad to the center and adhered it in place as shown.
Easy, peasy and fun to make!

Of course, Spring is the perfect time of year for a floral challenge and you can find the Bloomin' Beautiful Blog challenge this week over at DRS Designs. One of the most prevalent flowers in my yard right now are dandelions, so I thought this spring card made with the Dandelion Puff (380G) was a perfect fit!
This card was started by heat embossing the Dandelion Puff in fine, black embossing powder on vellum. Then I sponged each of the puffs with yellow ink. The vellum was adhered to white card stock and a decorative border punch was used at the bottom of it before adding a matching yellow ribbon. Then this was adhered to turquoise card stock to create the card front. I stamped the upper portion of the Spring Is Creeping Verse (759H) in the lower right corner before adding the card front to a turquoise card stock base.
I hope you have more than dandelions blooming in your yard!

Of course no one likes to have the need to make a Sympathy card but the best time to make them is when you don't need them. The new color challenge posted on the DRS Designs Blog today inspired me to add a Sympathy card to my collection for that exact purpose. Here's the challenge inspiration photo:
And here's my creation!
This layout was inspired by something I saw on Pinterest. I used an oval nestability die as a stencil and sponged the middle with pink ink to create the background for my card front. Next I stamped the Dandelion Puff (380G) in the center with black ink. I love how the shaded pink oval makes the silhouette "flower" stand out! It makes for a very elegant look and could be done using any color and still look great. The next step was to mat it twice, once with pink card stock and then again with black card stock. I added this to a gray, A2 card stock base. I added the sentiment by stamping the One Line "In Sympathy" Greeting (262B) on a gray banner that was matted with black. For a bit of dimension I adhered this with foam tape so that it popped up from the bottom of my image. I added 3 gray butterflies around the image and embellished them with a small pink rhinestone for a touch of color.
I hope I've inspired you to get inky today!

Yeah, It's April! Another month away from the cold weather and icky illnesses. However, I know a few families that are experiencing another round of the flu right now. Hopefully the weather will warm up a bit and we can all open the windows and air out our houses from all of the germs that have been festering all Winter!
Here's the card I made for a friend who has the flu and coincidentally, it's appropriate for this week's DRS Designs Blog Challenge too. April Showers bring May flowers as they say, and I can't wait!
I used the Ducks Decoration (565H) and the Raindrop Background (1012H) to create the scene for this Get Well card. The image was colored with Copic Markers and SU! Marina Mist was the blue ink used to stamp the raindrops. The upper portion of the Under The Weather Greeting (047G) was stamped at the bottom of the image as shown. I added some coordinating banners to the left side of the card front and added a paper flower and a violet pearl to the center to dress it up. Despite the rain shown on this card, I hope it cheers her up!
Have a great day!

Jennifer
There's a new color challenge on the DRS Designs Blog this week. The inspiration photo is below and it's all about Spring with pinks and greens!
I thought the Easter Daffodil Oval (663L) was perfect for this color combo.
The entire image was colored with Copic Markers. I used RV000, RV02, and RV23 on the daffodils. The leaves were colored with G00, G02, and G05. Y17, Y15, and Y02 were used for the background. I used RV23 to colored the image divider and the bottom was colored with YG06.
I built up the card front by layering green and pink cardstock. The green panel was embossed for texture and the pink panel was layered with a scallop border and some light green and white twine tied in s knot. Finally, I added some pearls around the matted image and ta da, it was complete!
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you'll be back soon!

Yeah! It's official, today is the first day of Spring and to celebrate there's a "Bloomin' Spring" challenge on the DRS Designs Blog this week. One lucky winner will win their choice of 2 stamps from DRS Designs! Here's what I created for the challenge.
I made this Springtime card using the Friendly Flower Frog (1115G) and the Goodbye Winter Greeting (384G). The frog was colored with Copic Markers and I split up the second half of the greeting to accomodate my layout. Yellow rhinestones were added to the flower centers to spice the image up a bit and a few pink brads wmbellished the embossed panels nicely. Finished card size is 4.25" x 5.5."
It's definitely time to watch the flowers grow and I'm so looking forward to it! Are you?
Have a great day!

Jennifer
Hi Stampers!
Today I have a few quick and easy birthday cards to share with you. When I am in the mood to mass produce a card design I like, I try to experiment with color like I did on these birthday cards.
I made the purple version first. It all started by first stamping the Medium Daisy Bloom (668H) repeatedly with different cool colors like blues, greens, and purples. I used black Versafine to stamp the Brush Happy Birthday (761H) in the center of the card front. I added 3 purple pearls just above the sentiment and tied the bottom with grograin ribbon in a knot.
I liked the purple one so much, that I created the same card but with warm colors instead--pinks, yellows, and oranges.
Which one do you like better?

I created this simple "Thinking of You" note card for the challenge. It measures 5" x 3.5."
I used white glossy cardstock for my card front and utilized the stamp off technique to create my design using the Silhouette Background Trees (1030F). In the empty space in the right upper corner I stamped a simple "Thinking of You" sentiment (046C). A pretty shimmer green ribbon was tied in a knot and adhered to the top of the card front to finish it off. The final step was to attach it to a matching green cardstock base.

I recently saw a few cards on SCS that used heat embossing on kraft cardstock with white embossing powder rather than embossing with black on white cardstock. What a beautiful look! I tried this technique and I love the results!
It was also a nice change to color the Flower Border (1076H) with Watercolor pencils and blend them with water rather than use my fave Copic Markers. The background was stamped with Versamark ink using a daisy flower that has been retired and I used a portion of the Sitting Thinking Greeting (398F) for the sentiment. This was definitely "out of the box" for me but I think it turned out very pretty. What do you think?
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks for stoppin' by!

I first stamped the Argyle Background with black ink. Then I used the Argyle Diamond (441A) to add color to it. To do this, I first stamped the dark black diamonds using a dark pink ink and then I used a lighter pink ink to stamp the dotted diamonds on either side of the dark one. It's so easy, but I can understand if you need more examples. Just click THIS LINK to view other posts on the DRS Designs Blog that feature the Argyle Background.
Here are few more details on the card seen above:
The focal point is the Single Rose (774G). I colored it with Copic Markers and then sponged pink ink around it while it was in a Nestability die. (That's how I got the white frame around it.) I used the Mother's Day Greeting (783G) for the sentiment but split it up and put "Happy Mother's Day" on the banner below the image. A little layering and a border punch helped complete this layout. Finished card size is 4.25" x 5.5"
Hope you enjoyed seeing it!
Have a great day!

For so many people I know 2013 has not been very kind. Unfortunately, I've needed more sympathy cards this thus far than I care to count. I'm hoping and praying that the second half of 2013 gets better.
Here's another sympathy card I created for a friend. The stamped elements on this card are DRS Designs Single Rose (774G) and the One Line Heartfelt Condolences (321D). I kept things simple--just some sponging, dry embossing with the very elegant Swiss Dots folder, a border punch, and a well tied ribbon made this card complete.
Until next time, have a wonderful day!

Easter is one week away! It's hard to believe that it's even Spring with all of the cold weather and pending snow we have on the way. We may just have to do the Easter Egg Hunt indoors this year.
Today I'm sharing one of my last few Easter cards with you. Both the image and sentiment are by DRS Designs. I colored the Circle Lily (437G) with Copic Markers and fussy cut it. This was rather easy though, since I just cut on the thick black line around the image and then around the lily flowers that stick out beyond the circle. The Abundance of Spring Greeting (527G) was stamped on the background panel next to the image as shown. After layering some pastel cardstock and using a border punch on the bottom-most layer, the card front was adhered on to a pink cardstock base. Finished size measures 5" x 3.5." To add to it's elegant look, I added different sized pearls to the bottom border.
Well, that's it for now. Gotta finish cleaning up my *extremely* messy crafting desk.
Thanks for stopping by!

Yeah, it's the First Day of Spring!
I'm ready to say "So Long Winter!"
The flower border was colored with Copic Markers and fussy cut. Then I adhered them in place above and below the sentiment as shown. The middle flower on the bottom panel was popped up for dimension.
How's the weather in your neck of the woods?
Are you ready to say "So Long" to Winter too?

Jennifer
Hi Stampers!
Here's a fun Birthday card I've created to share today!

All stamps are from DRS Designs and this was created using the Birthday Flower Circle (377H). The sentiment in the middle is part of the stamp. However, the wheels in my head are turning...if you used the unmounted or cling mounted version of this stamp, you could easily cut out the middle of the stamp and change the theme by stamping another sentiment in it's place. You could consider the Tiny Belated Birthday sentiment (495A), the Gift For You Greeting (514B), the Enjoy Today Sentiment (1145C), the I love You Greeting (608B), or even the Tiny Happy Anniversary Greeting (340A). The possibilities are endless!
For the background I stamped the Interlocking Flower Background (813H). The part I liked best is that there wasn't much to color--at least that's how I chose to proceed with the elements on this card. I used Copic Markers to color in some of the flowers and then only part of the petals on others. I used a white gel pen to color in the flower centers, the dots and some of the smaller flowers in the background.
I hope you enjoyed seeing this card--It's one of my favorites!
Don't forget today begins the Stamp-A-Versary contest over at DRS Designs! click on the photo above for all the details. You have a chance to win a 20 stamp prize package from DRS Designs in honor of their 20th Anniversary!!! Run over there now to play!

DRS Designs is starting off the New Year just right...with new stamps! Check them all out HERE! If you make Valentine's Day cards, cards for Winter Wishes, or even some masculine cards then this release is for you. I'll be sharing a card for each of these occasions very soon and today I'm sharing my Valentine's Day card.
I know this almost looks like a Christmas card, but I love red and olive colors together. I've used the Heart Stem Rose (789G) and the Love You More Greeting (796B) on this card. Both are brand new. I colored the image with Copic Markers. It's so elegant and can be used for many different types of cards. I've got many ideas in my head for it!
Hope your weekend is full of lots of stamping fun!
Thanks for visiting.

Jennifer
I originally set out to make a CAS card for the Ribbon Challenge on the DRS Blog, but like most of my cards I wasn't happy with the "simple" look. I kept adding more elements and before I knew it, it was no longer CAS! But, I love how it turned out and hope you do too!
Here's how I made it:
I started with a red note card base that measures 3.5" x 5". I created the background design by stamping the Open Plaid (631P) with red ink. Stamping it diagonally in both directions created the plaid. I used a decorative border punch at the bottom of the plaid cardstock, and added red ribbon just above it. I added a poinsettia paper flower to the center of the ribbon that I dressed up with a small white button tied with a red and white twine bow to the center. I, once again, used a portion of the Christmas Multi Greeting (341H) for the sentiment. I love this stamp!

Finally, I glittered up some snowflake punchies and added a red rhinestone to each center. Then I placed them as shown over the plaid background.
