Not Over The Hill

There's a new, fun challenge over the DRS Designs Blog this week called "Over The Top!"  The rules are to stamp the greeting or a portion of it on top of your image..or you can also have a die cut sentiment on top or use a vellum overlay!  I used this technique to create this Golfer's Birthday card!

For my over the top image, I stamped the Silhouette Male Golfer (038G) in olive green ink, and then stamped "Happy Birthday" from the Back Nine Birthday Greeting (658F) using black ink.  I used kraft cardstock for my card front and stamped the upper portion of this greeting in the upper left corner as shown.  I embossed a small white panel with the Swiss Dots Embossing folder, but I adhered it on backwards so that the embossed dots resembled the pattern on a golf ball to match the golf theme of this card. Brown and white twine simply embellished the card front and it was attached to an A2 olive green cardstock base.

Run over to the DRS Designs Blog to see all the details for this challenge and the fabulous prize you could win for playing along!

Not Over The Hill

I think it's safe to say that the cold weather here in Michigan is finally behind us.  Now it's time to break out the clubs and enjoy the sunshine!

This golfer's birthday card features many stamps from DRS Designs--5 to be exact!  For the focal image I created a scene using Golfer Duff (457L).  I colored him and the grass with Copic Markers and the clouds were done by sponging blue ink within a cloud template.  I've seen people use the Tiny Bubbles Cuttlebug Embossing folder before as a golf ball texture and that's what I did to show off the upper portion of the Back Nine Birthday Greeting (658F). I used the Polka Dot Background (688P) to add texture to the lower half of the card front and then stamped the lower left corner with "Happy Birthday" from the Back Nine Greeting.  The seam between the yellow and kraft cardstock pieces was hidden with pattern paper I created myself using the Argyle Background (438P) and the Argyle Diamond (441A).

Hope all of my American readers had a wonderful Memorial Weekend holiday!

Golfer's Birthday!

Even though St. Patrick's Day and Easter are right around the corner, I'm taking a break from creating cards for those holidays at the moment.  I'm thinking Spring and Summer right now, cause they're right around the corner too!  Today's weather inspired me to create this Golfer's Birthday card.  It was a rather Spring-like day with temperatures about 60 degrees and with this kind of weather, I know many of my family members are eagerly thinking "GOLF!"

Since it was so nice out, I kept things CAS so that we had time to go outside for awhile.  Both stamps are by DRS Designs.  I stamped the Silhouette Male Golfer (038G) on the pennant.  The inked frame was created by masking off the edges with Post-It Notes and sponging blue ink around the image and I inked the edges of the white card front as well with the same ink.  I used a border punch for the decorative layers in the background and once the layout was in place on the card front, I stamped the Back Nine Birthday Greeting (658F) in the space next to the pennant.  Finished card size is 5.5" x 4.25."

Are you inspired by this card, but want to make it more feminine?  No problem! Use pink cardstock instead of the blue and stamp the
Silhouette Female Golfer (1149G) on the pennant instead of the male!

Have a great day!

The Road To Happiness...

It's that time again...DRS Designs has another sponsorship opportunity for you to win a $15 shopping voucher for Free!  How to do it, you ask...Just create a card using the color idea chart below using the colors Navy, Mustard, and Teal, and link it up on the Play Date Cafe blog for your chance to win.

I used DRS Designs Golf Cart Girl (375K) for my main image. She was colored with Copic Markers and then masked so that I could ink the sky and grass.  The grassy area was also stamped using the Easy Grass Background (059E) with a darker shade of green ink for the grass blades.  The sentiment at the bottom is the Cart Path Greeting (005F).

I've also created this card for the final challenge over at the Stamp Something Challenge Blog. The theme is to just stamp something!  DRS Designs has donated a Halloween/harvest package of cling mount stamps, a $50 value, for the challenge prize.  Make sure to link up your stamped project here to enter to win this great prize package!

Good Luck with both of these chances to win great prizes from DRS Designs!

Have a wonderful day!

It Takes A Lot Of Balls

Are you enjoying the new Patriotic and Summer releases from DRS Designs?  Today I'm showing off another one.  On this Golfer's Birthday card I've used Golfer Duff (457L) and paired it 2 sentiments from the current DRS catalog, the Balls to Golf Greeting (003F) and the Small One Line Happy Birthday (250B)
I colored Golfer Duff with Copic Markers and outlined the Balls to Golf sentiment with a blue Copic Marker as well to match.  I matted both with dark brown cardstock.  I stamped the small one line happy Birthday sentiment just below the golfer image and added 3 dark brown brads on the right hand side to fill in the empty space.  I adhered the matted Balls to Golf sentiment to the left of the image to fill in the empty space above his golf club.  For the background I simply dry embossed a piece of green cardstock and added 4 petite light blue brads to the area under the sentiment. I used a light blue piece of cardstock for the card front and adhered it all to an A2 size dark brown cardstock base.

Golfer Duff is such a fun image to color.  Have you seen his friend, the Golf Cart Girl (375K)?  She'd be the perfect image to turn this card in to a feminine birthday card for any female golfer you know!
I hope you enjoyed this card today.
Thanks for stopping by!

You're Not Over The Hill

I've finally gotten a chance to take a break from Mommy madness this past weekend and do a little stamping! Yeah! It's been quite a while since I've participated in a Splitcoast sketch challenge. It was nice to have a little bit of time to myself and play!  Here's my take on SC342 from this past Wednesday.

I created a Golfer's birthday card using DRS Designs new Golf Cart Girl (375K) as my focal image along with the Back Nine Birthday Greeting (658F).  I colored this image with Copic Markers and stamped the Easy Grass Background (059E) at the bottom.  I created my own background paper by stamping the symbolic Golf (278B) stamp repeatedly with red ink.

For a fun effect, I used a glaze pen on the Golf Cart Girl's eyes and the headlights on her cart, however I apologize because it's hard to see in this photo.

Hope you like it!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all you Dads out there!
Here's the Father's Day card I made for my Dad today.

He loves Golf, so I knew I had to make a card using one of the many golf images from DRS Designs.  I chose the Golf Icon image (H973).  I stamped it twice and colored one of them fully with Copic Markers and then only the greens, flag and sun on the other, so that I could pop-dot them on the first image.  I used just the "Happy Father's Day" portion from the Ten Mile Father's Day Greeting (G280).

Hope you all have a wonderful day celebrating with all the Dads out there!  Don't forget to tell him how special he is to you!

Time For Golf?

Well...as with anything, you just have to take it one day at a time!

Both the image and sentiment are by DRS Designs.  The Silhouette Male Golfer was heat embossed, and the "One Day At A Time" sentiment was stamped with Versafine ink.  Some cardstock punched with my Zig Zag Martha Stewart punch, cute plaid ribbon, and the black cardstock embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder all helped to add detail to this card.

Hat's On!

December, it is, and 24 days til Christmas! YIKES! I can feel the holiday stress coming on already.  However, one way I love to de-stress is by stamping & cardmaking.  Hiding myself in my stamp room makes me feel like I don't have a care in the world! Do any of you do this as well?

I love playing with all my Christmas stamps this time of year & not feeling funny about it--what I mean is, how odd would it be in April to use Christmas images then, when I should be thinking about the Easter Bunny and pastel colors?  It would just be weird and wouldn't feel right at all! So, how about a Golfer's Christmas card for today?!?!?

Stamps: DRS Designs-K448 Golf Ball Snowman, B364 One Line Merry Christmas Greeting

I created this Clean and Simple card for this week's Saturday Spolight With Hidden Potential's "Hat's On!" Challenge. This Golfing Snowman from DRS Designs is too cute, but even more adorable with his plaid hat on! He always makes for a quick card since there's not much coloring to him.  I used Copic Markers to color this image.  I colored around the golf balls with a light blue marker and then lightly lined the inside of them with a gray marker to enhance the "white look" of the golf balls since it was also stamped on white cardstock.  The sentiment I used is also by DRS Designs--it's their One Line Merry Christmas greeting and I stamped it with Real Red ink.

Surprised there's no ribbon on this one?  I wanted to stay with the CAS theme for this as well, so I embellished it with only a single large brad. Trust me, I debated about this for a bit--ribbon is my favorite! However, I do love the way this card simply turned out!

Golf!

Hope your all having a great Saturday! My hubby & I are getting together with friends today for a BBQ--the girls are getting together to stamp, the guys are getting together to, well you know, do the stuff guys do! LOL! I'm so excited!

Today I want to show you this card I made earlier this week that features the new Graphic Golf image from DRS Designs.

Have you noticed the detail in each of the letters in this image? You can click on either of these images if you need a closer view. The "G" is textured with grass patches, the "O" has golf balls on it, the "L" has flags on it, and the "F" has golf tees on it. Cute & clever I must say!

I colored this image with both Prismacolor Pencils and markers. I also used the SU! Photo Corner punch to add some color and the Cuttlebug Tiny Bubbles embossing folder to make the background look like the texture of a golf ball.

Stamps: DRS Designs- Graphic Golf
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by American Crafts
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol, Bic Markers, Cuttlebug and Cuttlebug Tiny Bubbles Embossing Folder, SU! Photo Corner Punch and Ticket Corner Punch, Ribbon-Unknown, Brads by Making Memories
Finished Card Size: 5 3/4" x 4 3/8"

Well, sorry for the quick post today, but I don't want to spend a lot of time on the computer today. I have to get ready for the BBQ & finish getting ready for Father's Day too! I'll be making my Father's Day card later today--nothing like waiting til the last minute! I hope to be able to show you it tomorrow. I already have an idea in mind, I just need to sit down & create it!

I hope you have a wonderful Summer Saturday filled with your favorite things!

Thanks for visiting today!

DRS Designs Blog Hop Stop #7

Welcome to the DRS Designs Blog Hop Stop #7.

It's hoppin' time to show off the next set of new releases from DRS Designs! If you've stopped here first, make sure to go back to stop #1 which can be found at Vicki's blog. As you probably already know, some where along the way of every great Blog Hop is a prize. You'll want to follow the hop in it's entirety to see where that fabulous prize is and you're not going to want to miss it!!!!

For the Hop today, I've created this golf themed birthday card set for 2! Now that Summer is just about here & the golf season is in full swing everywhere around the United States, chances are good that you know a golfer who has a summer birthday! How about some golf themed birthday cards for all of the golf lovers you know???

I created this matching set using the DRS Designs silhouette golfer images & the new Above Par sentiment that will be released this Saturday. Of course I made one for a man and the other for a woman. The best part is that these simple and easy enough to make to mass produce if needed.

Both cards are similar, yet different. I tried to make the pink one more feminine by adding ribbon tied into a bow and I chose a border punch with a softer edge than the one I used for the masculine card.

Here are close up pics of each.

I made my aunt the pink one for her birthday earlier this year & she loved it! She couldn't wait to get on the golf course, so I new this would be a perfect birthday card for her.

Stamps: DRS Designs- Silhouette Male Golfer, Silhouette Lady Golfer, Above Par Birthday Sentiment to be released 6/13/09
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by The Paper Company, American Crafts
Accessories: Martha Stewart Zig Zag Border Punch, Fiskars Treading Water Border Punch, Pink Ribbon by Offray, Striped Blue Ribbon by American Crafts
Finished Card Size: 6.25" x 4"

Well, next stop on the blog hop trail is Dawn B. Enjoy the hop & all the sneak peeks. Don't forget that all of these awesome images will be available THIS Saturday, June 13th.

More Sneak Peeks!

If you're a golf lover or know someone who is, then your not going to want to miss this next stamp release from DRS Designs. They are getting ready to release some great golf stamps for all of your golf game & masculine needs. To help show them off, the DT is holding another Blog Hop tomorrow, and the new stamps will be available for purchase this Saturday, June 13th.

Well, it's Wednesday, and here at Ink N Scrap Habits it's time for another sketch challenge!

I created this golf birthday card using this sketch to show off 2 more stamps that DRS Designs will be releasing this week.

The image, titled "Golf Icon" was colored with Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol. I used Stickles to dress up the flag and sun in the image, and added ribbon tags adhered with blue staples on one side of it. I used the SU! Word Window punch and brads to decorate the opposite side of the sentiment.

There are so many ways to play with this image, that I'm sure you'll see me use it again soon! It is the perfect time of year for golf and there are a lot of golfers in my family who have Summer birthdays. Good thing rubber stamps don't wear like tires, cause these stamps are going to get a lot of use!

Such a cute sentiment isn't it?

Stamps: DRS Designs- Golf Icon, Way Above Par Sentiment both will be available for purchase on 6/13/09
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink, SU!
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by The Paper Company, American Crafts
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol, Stickles, Ribbon & Brads by Making Memories, SU! Word Window Punch, blue staples

Don't forget the Blog hop starts tomorrow bright and early! We'd love for you to join us! As always, if you do, you could win a chance to be handsomely rewarded, and we all love free goodies!

See you tomorrow for the Hop!

Jennifer

Tis the Season for Golf!

The weather here in Michigan is finally turning around! I think the official golf season started here this past Saturday with our warmest day of 2009 this far at 73 degrees, and better yet, tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer than that! I know my Dad and Uncles are eager to pull out their clubs and hit the course!

Here's a Golfer's Birthday card I made with them in mind. I'll probably make this card again in August for my Uncle's Birthday.

Both the image & the sentiment are by DRS Designs. I colored the golf bag image with Prismacolor Pencils and blended the colors with Gamsol. I sponged light brown ink around the golf bag to tone down the whiteness of the cardstock.

Stamps: DRS Designs- Golf Clubs, Back Nine Birthday Greeting
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink in Creamy Brown
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by The Paper Company, American Crafts

Well, today is the big day--I'm off to my girls stamping weekend, Shackapolooza!
