Landscaping Helps Makes a House a Home!

Whoo Hoo! Our yard is finally a little greener! Our landscaping and sod are now complete!! I'm loving all the green and the beautiful blooms our yard now has, and let me tell you it's been a long time coming! We've lived in our house for over a year & half and up till now we've just been staring at dirt, and alot of it!

I know the pics above make it difficult to see some of the individual flowers we have so I've taken a few close ups of them.

Knock-Out Roses

Day Lillies

Service Berry Tree, surrounded by Knock-out Roses, Black Eyed Susans, Purple Palace, Day Lillies and a rock! (Pic taken before the mulch was laid.)

Japanese Maple surrounded by decorative grasses, Day Lillies, and Salvia.

We also have Purple Iris plants. Unfortunately I took this pic before the top soil and mulch was laid around them. I planted some cute little pink daisy annuals in the top soil around the irises--I thought about retaking the picture, but now they're not blooming anymore.

I'm really excited to see how all of these plants will grow and expand in the spaces around them over the next few years. Things look a bit bare right now, as everything that was planted are just babies. Isn't it amazing what a little Miracle-Grow will do in just a short time?

Well, this is just one major project that we've finally completed as we prepare my house for my Sister-in-laws wedding. She'll be getting ready at our house for her big day! 11 days to go & counting!

Picture Tag!

My Friend Teresa, from Aunt T's Paper Arts Tagged me!

Here are the instructions:

1. Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.
2. Go to the 6th Folder, then pick the 6th picture in that folder.
3. Post that picture on your blog and the story that goes along with the picture.
4. Tag 6 other people that you know or don’t know to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog or an e-mail letting them know you chose them.

I like this tag game! It's a fun one! Here's my picture!

Over a year ago, my DH and I built the home we are currently living in. This picture was taken in the very early stages of the building process. At this time we didn't even have a roof yet! This is showing the back of our house. Of course this is one of many pictures we have of the building process. We moved in last March (Can't believe it's been almost a year already!) and I posted many of the pictures right here on my blog. You can read all about the process and see pictures from start to finish, including pictures of the inside of our house too, by clicking the label "house" on the side of my blog.

The six other people I am tagging for Picture Tag are:

Kimmy-Stamps, Scraps and More

Traci-Inkin' Up The Dog

Angie-Stampings of the Shug

Ethel-The Paperquilter

Kim-Running On Ink

Tami-Dapple Designs

Well, that's it for today--Sorry so short. I'm leaving on a Jet Plane next Saturday and have tons of house work to do, some packing, and I want to play a little in my studio today. I MUST get off this computer if I'm going to accomplish anything today!

Hope you have a nice & relaxing weekend!

We Have A Driveway!

Yeah! We have a driveway and a front porch! We have been in our new home for about 2 months now and the weather has finally shaped up enough to get the cement poured.

Last Monday the guys arrived and started taking down our temporary wood front porch and setting up the guide frames for the driveway.

After the city inspection on Tuesday and the rain on Wednesday they finally got to work pouring the cement this past Thursday. Here's the front porch, with nice rounded corners!

Here's the full view--I can't believe how wide it is! I'm so excited to finally be able to park in our garage, although we have to wait until late next week to drive on it!

In this picture you can see the decorative edge near the front of the house. I can already imagine having some type of shrubbery there!

Now, if only we could get sod in before the end of the Summer we'll be all set!

Hope you're having a great weekend!

From House to Home

Well, after 2 weeks my Husband & I are finally pretty much settled into our new home. With all of the talking I've been doing about being so excited to move, I've finally had a chance to go through some pictures and to post them here for you all to see. I'll post a few pictures everyday & tell you a little about each one. We could consider this a digital scrapbook! This will give me some extra time to get my craft room developed. We all need a space to let the creativity flow, otherwise there will not be any creative happenings for me to share with you!

Just for a little background info, my Husband and I bought property last May. We worked all summer with an architect, who helped design our house just the way we wanted it. Finally, the contractors began digging our basement on September 11th, 2007. Our move in date was March 10th, 2008. I just think it is so ironic that practically 6 months to the day we moved in!

Here's our property the day we bought it. Gotta love all those trees!

Digging the basement.

The completed basement.

Main floor complete, rough carpentry has started.

My goal is to post a little bit of the house progress everyday. This will help me to focus on my real scrapbook as well. I hope you will visit everyday to read my story. Stay tuned...more pictures tomorrow!

Smiles,
Jennifer
