Cat's Meow

I've just returned from a 4 day stamping retreat with the girls from the Stamp Shack.  It's an event we do every year and it was wonderful!  However, it seems every year the time goes by faster and faster. (They do say "Time flies when you're having fun!") Over the course of the weekend I made about 22 cards!! Below is one of them.

One of the girls there was making "Happy Birthday, you old bag!" cards by actually stamping on a brown paper lunch bag. I thought that was a clever idea and did the same for this card.

To start, I stamped Vicki's Versatile Background (369H) on white and kraft cardstock.  I adhered the 2 layers together and covered the seam with some yummy brown ribbon. Next, I stamped the Cat In The Bag (118H) image twice, once on a brown paper lunch bag and then again on white cardstock.  The cat was colored with Copic Markers and then the bag in the image was paper pieced with the image that was stamped on the brown bag.  I split up the Cat's Meow Birthday Greeting (1125G) and added the "Happy Birthday" portion on a popped up sentiment banner.

Great idea for a great card, don't you think?
Thanks, Angie!

Cat Out Of The Bag

I've had this adorable Cat stamp combo for quite awhile now and can't believe this is my first time getting them inky. This week's DRS Designs Cat challenge was the perfect opportunity, and I'm glad to finally be showing them off!

The Cat in the Bag (1118H) was colored with Copic Markers. I broke up the Cat's Meow Birthday Greeting (1125G) to fit my layout. I highlighted the words "cat's meow" with a sentiment tag that was popped up on foam tape. The shading around the image was done with a sponge while it was in a Nestie die and I used Post-It Notes to mask off the edges on the sentiment tag.

I hope you'll join us on the DRS Designs Blog for a chance to win some free stuff from DRS Designs.
Happy Stamping!

Jennifer

PS: For those of you in the Cleveland, Ohio area, the Adventures in Stamps rubber stamp and scrapbook convention is this weekend (October 19th and 20th) at the Ehrnfelt Event Center in Strongsville.  Stop by the DRS Designs booth for some demonstrations and Make n Take projects and meet several of the DRS DT members, including myself! Hope to see you there!

"Purr"fect Birthday!

Looking for the "purr''fect birthday card?  Here's a fun one I created with stamps from DRS Designs.

It's pretty simple overall and "purr"fect for any cat lover!  The "Purr"fectly Wonderful Birthday sentiment (726G) is the highlight on this card.  I created my own background design with the Cat Paw Background (698H) and sponged it with Vintage Photo Distressing ink.  I made a tag with the Happy Cat Walking (099D) and colored it with Copic Markers.  I added a dark brown panel punched with a heart border punch and tied it with pink plaid ribbon to spice up this card a bit.  I love the pink and brown together and I hope you do too!

"Paws"itively!

Hi Friends! Hope you're having a great day!

Here's the perfect birthday card for any cat lover! I loved making this card--not sure if it is the colors, or this great "Purr"fectly Comfortable Kitty image (815L) but I really like how all the elements came together.  I've used several stamps from DRS Designs to create it...

...I stamped the Cat Paw Background (698H) with brown ink all over the light purple cardstock base.  The "Purr"fectly Comfortable Kitty image was colored with Copic Markers to match and in the empty space above the image, I stamped the "Paws"itively Birthday Greeting (727F) from DRS Designs newest release.  After inking the edges with light purple ink, I then matted the image with dark purple cardstock.  I folded down the upper left corner and added 4 dark purple brads as shown.

I created my own tag embellishment by stamping the Small Cat Print (A1006)  and matting it with light and dark purple cardstock.  I adhered it to the bottom of the focal image with foam for some added dimension.

Hope you like this card as much as I do!

Jennifer

To The Moon...Again!

Happy Friday! I hope you all have a great weekend planned!  I, unfortunately have to work both Saturday and Sunday this weekend (Monday too) but I'm looking forward to having Tuesday and Wednesday off.  Oh, the joys of working in a hospital! :-)
However, I'm glad to report that I was able to get together with my stamping friends last Saturday.  From about 4pm-1am we chatted, ate, and stamped the night away.  It was so much fun! I wish we all could get together more often for days/nights like that!

Here is one of the cards I made during our stamping get together.  All stamps by DRS DesignsI think I'm obsessed with the Halloween Moonlight Cat Serenade (605L) paired with the Love You To The Moon Greeting (580D).  Did you see the other Valentine's Day card on the DRS Designs Blog that I made using it?

This card, however, was decorated using the Girl Swirl (585G) in red and black ink to decorate the background, and I only used the middle cat with the moon from the Moonlight Cat Serenade stamp, rather than all 3.  To make it more Valentine like, I embellished the area around the sentiment and image with baby pearls.  I hope you like it! :-)

Thanks for visiting here today and have a wonderful weekend!

Jennifer

To The Moon and Back

Valentine's Day will be here before you know it, so now is the time to get started on your Valentine's Day cards.  DRS Designs just released some great Valentine stamps to help you "get in the mood."  The card I'm sharing with you today uses 3 of them.

Unfortunately, I can only show you a sneak peek, becuase it's my day to post on the DRS Designs Blog.  I'm hope you'll run over there to see how I've used a Halloween image and spiced it up to make it a very cute Valentine's Day card.

Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for more fun stuff coming soon!

DRS Sketch Challenge!

For the next 2 weeks DRS Designs is holding a sketch challenge.  Here's the sketch to follow:
For your participation you could win either a beach prize package or a golf prize package from DRS Designs.  You can see picture of the prize packages HERE.

Here's my take on the sketch:

I used 2 of DRS Designs new releases on this card.  The Pet Angel Group (K330) and the One Line Sorry For Loss Greeting (D317).  (You can see the rest of their new releases HERE.)  The image was colored with Copic Markers and I used the masking technique while sponging blue ink around it.  I also stamped the Small Cat Print (A1006) and the Small Dog Print (A1003) in the background with Versamark ink.

I added white Fun Flock to the cloud to make it fluffy and I used Yellow Stickles on the halos to make them glisten.

Please see THIS POST on the DRS Site to see all of the Sketch challenge details and enter your card today!

Thanks for stopping by!

For The Loss of Your Pet

Tomorrow is the big Release Day over at DRS Designs, and today I'm showing off some more sneak peeks! This release is a bit bitter sweeet for me as there are many sympathy related stamps.  For example, the Cat Angel and the sentiment you see on this card are part of tomorrow's release.  Of course no one want to have to make a sympathy card of any kind, but when you need one it's so nice when you have one already made and ready when you need it. I'm usually not one for Clean And Simple, but sometimes I think sympathy cards are better off in the CAS category.

I colored this Cat Angel with Copic Markers.  I cut it out using a Nestability die, covered it with a mask and then sponged blue ink around it for the sky.
I dressed this card up just a bit by adding some brown felt ribbon, and then I used Stickles on the angel wings, and Fun Flock on the cloud for a relaistic effect.
Make sure to check out all of DRS Designs new Releases tomorrow.  As soon as they become available, you can see them all HERE.

Thanks for stopping by!

Four Legged Friends

Here's another card I made for the Caardvarks Wet/Dry Embossing challengeUnfortunately, I am not eligible to win the fabulous prize DRS Designs is giving away to two lucky participants, but you could!   What's the prize you ask??  Two prizes will be awarded, each participant will receive 15 DRS Designs stamps from the Stamp A Day Giveaway Campaign!!  Just click the Caardvarks link above to see all the details and link up your card today!

It's always so very sad when someone loses a pet, but when the time comes, I like having cards like this pet sympathy one on hand.  DRS Designs Pet Sympathy sentiment (H074) is so sincere.
Both the Small Cat Print (A1006) and the Small Dog Print (A1003) images are also by DRS Designs.  I stamped them with Versamark ink in the background on the card base.  The Pet Sympathy sentiment and the dark brown paw print were stamped in SU! Chocolate Chip.  I used Post It Notes to mask off the edges around the sentiment and sponged light blue ink over the wording.  A bit of embossing with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and a small dog bone embellished this card nicely.

The Difference Between Cats and Dogs!

Hooray for Friday!
I'm excited today becuase I'm enjoying a 3 day weekend!  These kinds of weekends don't come around for me very often working in a hospital so sometimes I just have to create my own long weekends, and that's exactly what I did!

As I mentioned earlier this week, I've seemed to have lost my crafting mojo a bit.  I think it's slowly on the mend, but it's definitely affected by the nicer weather we've had lately.  One of the projects I was able to complete this week is this card that tells about the difference between cats and dogs.

But...

...It's my day to post on the DRS Designs Blog, so you'll have to check it out over there!
Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!

Card Sketch Wednesday & Cats Have Staff!

Welcome to Card Sketch Challenge #21!

Every Wednesday here at Ink N Scrap Habits, I have a card sketch challenge, and I participate as well. Hope you'll have a little free time this week with the holiday and join me! I love seeing what other people do for the same sketches.

I created this fun Cat card for today's challenge. I love the way the pink and brown go together, and this sentiment is hilarious! All of the images seen here are from DRS Designs.

I used the new sitting Kitty stamp, colored with pencils and blended with Gamsol. Then I used a sponge dauber and pink ink to sponge around him while it was still in my Nesties Die. Next I matted it as shown.

I created my own background paper using the fun Cat Paw Easy Background Stamp with brown ink on light pink cardstock. Can you say Cute, Cute, Cute?

I used foam tape to adhere the cat image to the paw background layer and then again to adhere the paw background to the card front.

Here's a close up of that adorable Kitty. If you like this Kitty image, then I'm sure you'd like the other DRS Designs new Kitty Image seen here.

Stamps: DRS Designs- Happy Cat Sitting, Dogs Have Owners, Cats Have Staff Sentiment, Cat Paw Easy Background
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink in Rose Coral and Chestnut Roan
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by The Paper Company and Bazzill
Accessories: Ribbon-Confetti by My Minds Eye, Brads by Joann's Scrap Essentials, Nesties, Sponge Daubers
