Hula Scene!

With my shy personality, I normally don't like to be the center of attention and I sure don't like to cause a scene. However, this Hula Pig (879E) is causing a scene and telling everyone to get your 'hula on' for this week's DRS Designs Blog challenge! The theme is to create a scene using any image, die cut, paper, or technique.

This scene was created by using the masking and sponging techniques. The Hula Pig, the Sandcastle (090G) and the Palm Tree (886G) images were masked and then the sky and the beach sand were sponged. I used Copic markers to color in the stamped images.  Next, I used the Top Note Die to cut out my scene from the white cardstock it was created on and then matted it with pink cardstock before adhering it in place on a light blue cardstock base. I stamped the Sending You Sunshine Greeting (094D) on a flag banner and embellished it with a small red flower that was held in place with a tiny pink brad. The final step was adhering it to the card front as shown.

Do you like to create scenes with your stamps? I encourage you to join me in the Create A Scene challenge and enter your creation to win a great prize from DRS Designs. Good luck!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Party Pig!

Ha! The latest release from DRS Designs includes this new Leonard Pig stamp and his grin is goofy as ever!!  A Birthday Party Pig (354G) makes a delightful birthday card, which as you can see, that's what I'm showing off today.  I created this for this week's DRS Designs Blog challenge, Birthday Blues.  As the challenge states, it has 2 requirements--your project must be birthday related and use the color blue.

I colored this image using Copic Markers:
The pinks used here are RV10, RV02, and RV23.
I used B00, B02, and B05 for the blues.
E35 and E37 created the muddy ground he is standing on.
R27, R29 and R59 colored his balloon red.
Some shading was added around him using C1 and C3.

I made a layered tag to show off the Small One Line "Happy Birthday" (B250) sentiment. Since I mailed this off to a friend, I kept my embellishments flat and rather simple. I used an embossing folder on the top border for some texture, a border punch, some red satin ribbon, and 3 red rhinestones put the final touches on this card.

Christmas O.C.D.

Hi Friends! Hope your weekend is going well!
I'm taking a break from the craziness of getting my house ready to host Thanksgiving for our family this year. We are expecting about 40 people and I'm sure we will have enough food to feed an army, but that's what the holidays are all about, right?  Good company and good food--We have so much to look forward to and to be thankful for!

A color challenge was recently posted over at the DRS Designs blog. It utilizes a poinsettia image with different hues of red and greens for the challenge. Here's my challenge entry depicting Christmas Leonard Pig (709K) in the hustle and bustle of Christmas. I've paired him with one of the new Christmas sayings from DRS Designs most recent release, the O.C.D. Christmas Greeting (183E).

The image was colored with Copic Markers, cut out, and masked. Blue ink was sponged around the edges and the upper portion was masked as well so that when sponge with brown ink it resembles him standing on a floor.  I created my own pattern paper by using a portion of the Cut-apart Woven Plaid Stamp (613P). I split up the sentiment into two parts and cut them out with Nestability dies. Blue ink was sponged over top while still in the die and then each one was matted with green card stock cut with a scallop die. My card front was assembled as shown and was simply embellished with only pink grosgrain ribbon tied in a knot.

Well, I'm sure with all that is going on this week I probably won't be on the computer much until after the holiday.  I hope you all have a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving full of all your favorite things!

Thanks for stopping by!

Count Porkula!

Hi Everybody!
Does my title have you curious?
Well, now that it's September, it will be time for the ghosts and goblins to come out soon and DRS Designs is getting ready with some awesome new Halloween stamps! They are now available for purchase and the one seen below is Count Porkula (134D)!  How cute is he?!?!?!? Leonard Pig is all dressed up for Halloween and he even has his Trick-orTreat bag!

I used him as the focal point on my card below for this weeks DRS Designs blog challenge.  The theme is to use gems or sequins on your project!  Not a real challenge for me lately as I seem to be using gems all the time.

I made my own pattern paper by stamping the Accent Bats (517A) repeatedly on the bright green card stock. I trimmed it with gray card stock and then added a spiderweb border and black card stock to both ends. Count Porkula was colored with Copic Markers, matted with a pink scallop rectangle and adhered in the center of the card stock. Next, I used a die to cut out the bright green banner and then stamped it with the Tiny Happy Halloween (938A) greeting.  I added a bit of spider web to it to match the pattern paper at the bottom before adhering it in place as shown. Finally, I added 3 green gems at the bottom right side of the card front and my card was complete!

Thanks for stopping by!

Your Birthday Popped Up!

Hi Everyone!
I hope all of my American readers are enjoying the long weekend for the Fourth of July holiday! Unfortunately I will be spending it working. But I hope to be able to find some time for myself to stamp. Today I'm sharing the card I made for the latest DRS Designs blog challenge.  The theme is Banners, Flags and Pennants

I had fun using the Splatter Background (855H) to create my own pattern paper. I stamped it in green and pink inks to match my color scheme.  I colored Leonard Pig Blowing Bubbles (078K) with Copic markers. To follow the challenge theme, I used my banner dies to create the embellishment cluster I added to the upper left hand corner of my card front. A button and a twine bow completed the look. I like this image paired with the Popped Up Birthday Greeting (924H). The word "popped" was also colored with Copics.

The final touch I added was Diamond Glaze to the bubbles for a realistic look.  In the right light they really look wet!

Hope you enjoyed my post today.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!!

Poppin' In

Need a challenge to inspire you this week? Check out DRS Designs newest challenge "On The Border."  The requirement is to make a border on your card by either stamping a word or phrase all around, use a border image, draw a border, use a border die etc. The possibilities are endless!  I created this Thinking of you card and I hand-drew the black-lined border on the card front.

I used one of DRS Designs newest stamps for the focal point of my card.  I colored Leonard Pig Behind The Bubble (081G) with Copic Markers and then added Diamond Glaze to the bubbles for a realistic look.

The card front started as just a white piece of cardstock that was made into pattern paper by stamping it with the Woven Plaid Background (613P).  Then on the blue panel, I stamped the Just Poppin In Sentiment (156D). I thought this sentiment went well with the bubbles in the image.  They eventually have to pop right?

Hope you enjoyed seeing today's card.
Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Hogidays!

I know by now it's too late to send out Christmas cards if you haven't done so already, but how cute is this new Leonard Pigs Christmas List (1047G) stamp from DRS Designs? It's a perfect match for the  Happy Hogidays Greeting (1038B).

This image was colored with Copic Markers and sponged with light brown ink while in a nestie die. I did the same for the sentiment as well. I used a new snowflake embossing folder for the card front that I split up.  Tried a different kind of layout and I love it!

Hope you do too!
Merry Christmas Eve!

Jennifer

3 Little Pigs

Nope, I'm not referring to the children's book here, just this this cute birthday card I whipped up!

I love this image of Leonard Pig's Bathtime Buddies (719K)! Since the mud around them is a solid silhouette, I thought it was best to stamp them with brown ink. Then I added some accents with a pink Copic Marker. The Hogwash sentiment (722E) was also stamped in brown ink. I kept my layout simple and used the Cuttlebug Birthday embossing folder for the background and then sponged Vintage Photo ink over the top of the Kraft cardstock. This panel was then matted with dark brown cardstock that was punched to create a decorative edge.  A few brads dressed up this simple 4.25" x 5.5." card nicely.

I've entered this in the 365 Cards challenge for Sponging and Embossing.

Thanks for visiting here today.  See you next time!

Hogs and Kisses Valentine

Wow, It's Thursday again already! The weeks are flying by and we're almost to the end of January.  Can you believe it? Now, it's time for another challenge on the DRS Designs blog and the new theme is ...Pigs!

I created this fun Valentine last night and chose to use the Pig in Puddle (374F) image. I colored it with Copic Markers.  I stamped the background using the Checkerboard Background stamp (342P), and embossed the vertical panel with the Heart Blocks Cuttlebug Embossing Folder.  I added decorative trim using an EK Success border punch and embellished it with some pink and white twine.  The sentiment is the newly released "Hogs and Kisses" greeting (785B).  I added a brown brad to each side and adhered it using foam tape so that it popped up above the image.

DRS Designs is giving away a your choice of 2 stamps for FREE! Won't you play along? Check out all the details HERE and link your card for a chance to win! Good Luck!

Hogs and Kisses

Happy New Year!
I hope you've all had a wonderful holiday! I've taken a small break from all things crafty to spend more time with family over the holidays. But now, I'm eager to get back into the swing of things.  During my break I received some new dies and stamping supplies, and fresh batch of rubber was just the icing on the cake! Nothing gets me in the mood to stamp like new stuff!

I'm having a blast creating cards with stamps that DRS Designs is releasing this Saturday, January 5th. The "Hogs and Kisses" sentiment (785B) I've used here is part of this release.  It goes so well with this Cupig image (607G) and the stamped Interlocking Heart Background (808H). All together they make an adorable Valentine's Day card!

Have a great day!

Jennifer

Hogwash!

Happy Monday Friends!
Today I'm sharing with you a comical Birthday card.  The Hogwash stamps I used on this card are some of my favorites by DRS Designs

I stamped the Leonard Pig's Bathtime Buddies (719K) in Rich Cocoa Momento ink and colored them with Copic Markers.  The Hogwash Sentiment (722E) is actually all one stamp.  It has 3 lines that I've split up to fit my layout.  This technique is one I do all the time and love it! That's the beauty of using unmounted rubber stamps! I feel this makes them more versatile and I get more use out of them.  As you can see I've also used "Hogwash" to create my own background paper.  Hope you like the way this card turned out, I sure do!

For your information, I'd like to share some other DRS news with you. Out with the old, in with the new as they say...DRS Designs has announced their 2011 retired stamps list. These stamps will be available for purchase until September 15th or while supplies last. You can see the entire list of retired designs HERE Get them now while you can. After September 15th they will be gone for good!

Several days ago I posted about this week's Spoonfull of Sugar Blog Challenge "Show Some Love."  At the time, I was unable to post my project for it because it wasn't complete.  Well, now that we've returned from our mini vacation (pics coming soon) I'm glad to say that I've finally finished it just in time for Valentine's Day.  Since today is my day to post on the DRS Designs Blog you'll have to run over there to see it.  Here's a sneak peek, just in case you need a bit of prompting! Feel Better Soon!

Hi Friends! Happy Monday to you all!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend celebrating with all the dads out there and that you're all rested up for the work week.  I had a very nice weekend, and had a nice chunk of time in my stamp room on Saturday.  I was able to finish 3 cards!

It's been a really long time since I've played with a sketch challenge. I finally added the sketch you see below to my to-do list.  It was really nice not to have to think too hard about making today's card--I always find the layouts to be the hardest part, but with this card, everything just feel right into place.

I used this weeks Card Patterns sketch 69 for my layout.

Here's my interpretation of it.

As you can see, I've used Leonard Pig Sick Day Blues (G1019) from DRS Designs.  I colored this image with Copic Markers.  I also used the Cured Yet Greeting (E1015), but I split it up into 3 parts to make it work with this sketch.  A little ribbon and some Primas flowers with brads dressed this card right up!

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my Leonard card.  Don't worry he'll feel better soon! ;-)

Jennifer

DRS Designs and Tuesday Morning!

Want to win some great prizes this week?  Ready for a fun Sketch Challenge?  Well, Look no further! DRS Designs is sponsoring this week's Tuesday Morning Sketch!

I created this Get Well card for the challenge.   I love the clean and simple layout of the sketch.  I was able to whip this card up quickly.  It helps to always have pre-colored images on hand!

Both the image and sentiment are by DRS Designs.  It's been a while since Leonard has been seen on my blog! I'm glad he's back, but sorry he has the Sickday Blues!   I colored him with Copic markers.  The "Cured Yet" sentiment is a perfect match for him, and it's bound to cheer up anyone who's feeling a little bit icky!

I look forward to seeing your version of this sketch!

Hope you have a wonderful Tuesday!

Merry Christmas From Leonard!

Want a chance to win some goodies from DRS Designs? Run over to the Caardvarks challenge blog to see all of the different card sketches that will enter you to win the Blog Candy up for grabs.

I played along with the sketch challenge using Leonard, oink, oink! He wants to wish you a "Merry Christmas!" Yes, I know it's a tad early for that, but I couldn't help myself!

When I saw this new Santa Hat stamp by DRS Designs, I knew right away that Leonard would look perfect wearing it! He's cute, isn't he?

I created my own pattern paper for this card using another new stamp from DRS Designs, the Silhouette Holly stamp. I cut the berries away from the holly leaves, a bonus for using unmounted stamps, as it easily let me stamp the berries in red and the leaves in green. I randomly stamped the holly berries in a few of the larger white spaces to fill it in a little more completely.

If you look closely at Leonard's Santa Hat, you can see that I added some white Fun Flock to the furry parts. Nothing like giving your card that authentic feel! *grin*!

Have you seen the rest of DRS Designs new Holiday stamps?

New Images Coming Soon!

DRS Designs and the DT are working hard preparing for their next image release.

Are you ready?

Here's a sneak peek of what's to come on release day, June 13th...

Remember DRS Designs famous pig, Leonard? Now he's sick and what a cute Get Well card he makes!!

I used a Nestie die to cut the image out from white cardstock, and then I stamped the image again on a Post-It Note to create a mask. I laid the mask on top of the image in the Nestie die and sponged pink ink around it before taking it out of the die. I did the same thing with the "Cured Yet?" tag embellishment. I colored this image with Prismacolor Pencils and blended the colors with Gamsol and after the image was matted I used Diamond Glaze on the vase to "add" water to it.

This card was created using 2 stamps, the image "Leonard's Sick Day Blues," and the "Cured Yet?" sentiment. All of the words you see on this card actually come from 1 stamp. I split the sentiment up, but it actually reads, "Are you 'Cured' yet?" and then "Feel Better Soon!" underneath it.

Stamps: DRS Designs- Leonard's Sick Day Blues, and Cured Yet Sentiment-both to be released on 6/13/09
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, SU! Rose Red
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by American Crafts
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol, Nesties, Brad by Making Memories, Diamond Glaze, Sponge daubers

Make sure to check out more of the new sneak peeks from the rest of the DT. You can find their blog links on my side bar. I too am very excited & can't wait to see what they did with these new stamps!

I'll have sneak peeks for you here as well for the rest of the week! Make sure to check back often!

If you upload to a public gallery, please use the keyword DRSC18.

Here's my Birthday Party set, complete with a Party Hat Table Favor Box (filled with candy of course!), Birthday card, and Gift Bag.

I'm showing off Leonard...again, on this birthday card! His billboard reads "Happy Birthday!"

I colored him with pencils and blended the colors with Gamsol. I also put my sewing machine to work! Gotta love that zig-zag stitch!

And who doesn't love candy? What a cute way to decorate tables! I stamped this table favor box with the Birthday Multi Greeting stamp and created a ribbon pom-pom to stick out of the top. This would also be the perfect weight for a bunch of balloons and then raffled off to the attendees later in the party!

Lastly, we all know you can't go to a birthday party without a gift. Here's a coordinating gift bag perfect for a small gift, gift card or other goodies the birthday girl would like!

DRS Hop Stop #1!

Welcome to the First DRS Designs Blog Hop!

The fun starts here with sneak peeks of all their new images that will be released tomorrow, April 4th, 09, and will conclude with a blog candy give away. Be sure to follow the entire hop. I'm sure it will be a very interesting and entertaining ride!

First up, I'd like you to meet Leonard's Bathtime Buddies and this adorable "Hogwash" sentiment to go with them!

I colored these cuties with Prismacolor Pencils and blended the colors with Gamsol. I cut them out with my Nesites and before I took them out of the die I sponged around them with lime green ink. I matted them as shown, added some lime green polka-dot ribbon and painted them with Opal Shimmerz for a little sparkle.

A little out of the ordinary, I know--How often do you see pigs sparkle? These little piggies are nice & clean from their Hogwash, unlike most pigs you are used to seeing! :-)

The card base was also stamped with the Versatile Background stamp with Versamark for a little added texture.

Stamps: DRS Designs- Vicki's Versatile Background, Leonard's Bathtime Buddies, Hogwash Sentiment (released tomorrow 4/4/09)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink in Lime Pastel, Versamark
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by Bazzill
Accessories: Prismacolor Pencils, Gamsol, Nesties, Opal Shimmerz, Sponge Daubers, Michael's Dashes, Dots and Checks Ribbon
Finished Card Size: 5" x 7"

Be sure to follow the blog hop til the end to see all of the sneak peek designs available starting tomorrow. Plus, as an added bonus, as if the eye candy isn't enough, there are two opportunities to win blog candy throughout the hop. You'll have to visit each blog to find out the candy details...let me give you a hint...Free Rubber!

So, next up on the DRS Designs Blog Hop is Dawn from the Rubber Room.

Enjoy the hop & all the sneak peeks.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Smiles,
Jennifer
