Christmas Church

Hi Everyone!
I hope you're all enjoying the new Christmas in July release from DRS Designs.  I'm really enjoying these new stamps and the adorable Christmas scenes that can be created with them.  However, for today's post I've taken a different approach by using the new Christmas Village Church (107D) image alone for the focal point on my card, rather than pairing it with the other village stamps that are available.

I used kraft cardstock to create the base for an A2 size card.  I added some texture to the card front by matting the dark brown panel with white and red cardstock and then embossing it with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.  This was placed vertically on the left hand side of the card front as shown.  For the scene I created here, I used the Christmas Village Four in One Accessories stamp (119D) to add the pine trees to either side of the church.  The image was then colored with Copic markers and fine glitter was added to the snowy areas for a realistic look. It was matted with dark brown cardstock and then again with a red scallop. Then it was adhered it to the center of the card. I split up the Richly Blessed Christmas Greeting (865G) to accommodate my layout and highlighted the word "Christmas" by stamping it on a banner and matting it. The look was completed by adding a red brad to either side of "Christmas" and then adhering it in place just below the image as shown.

Like what you see? Make sure to run over to the DRS Designs site and check out all of the new Christmas Village stamps that are now available for purchase! I promise you won't be disappointed and while you're there, enjoy all of the great scene cards create by the DRS Designs DT.

Thanks for stopping by and have a Happy day!

Easter Promise

I can't believe it's March and the Easter Holy season is already underway! Where does the time go? Seems like Christmas and New Years were just last week! Perhaps it all feels so rushed because Easter is early this year. Well, regardless it's time to start showing off my Easter cards (St. Patty's Day too, stay tuned!) before it's too late! And, that's exactly what I have in store for you today!

The 2 stamps I used on this card are by DRS Designs:

I used the Easter Promise Greeting as my focal point. I stamped it in purple ink and used the same ink to shade around it while it was in a Nestie die. I decorated it with a few purple rhinestones and matted it with an oval scallop made from shimmer purple cardstock.

I used a 4" x 4" piece of light purple cardstock for the middle layer and embossed it with the Cuttlebug Textile Texture embossing folder. The bottom was punched with the Treading Water border punch. I decorated it by adding a pearl to each of the holes created by the border punch, and white grosgrain ribbon was tied in a knot just above the border.  I used smooth white cardstock for the background layer and stamped the bottom portion 3 times with the Cross In A Cross stamp.

Finished card size measures 4.25" x 5.5".

Don't forget to run over to DRS Designs and check out today's clue for the Stamp-A-Versary contest! DRS has several prizes up for grabs including a 20 stamp grand prize package. Make sure to enter today!

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your visit!

Faith Crosses

I normally always make cards that are A2 size but while cleaning out some drawers the other day I found a bunch of envelopes left over from my wedding thank you cards.  They measure 3.5 inches by 5 inches and I thought it would be nice to make a bunch of smaller cards especially for thank you's and sympathy cards.

The card I'm showing today uses DRS Designs Triple Crosses (510G), a portion of their Faith Greeting (243F), and I stamped their new Material Square Background Maker (583L) in yellow for the bottom portion of the card front. The layout I used follows this week's My Favorite Things Sketch challenge. I used decorative scissors for the edge enhancement of the card front, fun ribbon and 3 tan rhinestones for the embellishments.

Hope you like it!

Smiles,
Jennifer
