Celebrate Christ

Welcome back to Thursday! The weekend is almost here! Yeah! We're going camping this weekend with about 20 other family members so I'm eager for Friday to get here. However, since it's Thursday I have to share the new blog challenge from DRS Designs first.

This week is all about "No Layers." This is definitely a challenge for me--I love the layered look! I started with a plain white cardstock base. I stamped the Simplify Christmas sentiment (553D) near the top and the Three Wisemen Peace (504K) at the bottom. Then I used dies cuts as stencils to sponge the blue areas. The bottom of the image was sponged with brown ink to represent the desert sand. I embellished the sentiment with a blue button that was threaded with twine and tied in a cute little bow. Finally, I added Stickles to the big star to make it really stand out.

So, are you up for the "No Layer" challenge? Show us your work on the "No Layer" blog post and enter to win a great prize from DRS Designs.

Have a great day and a wonderful weekend!

Jennifer

SD38 No Layers!

The Sunflowers and Dragonflies team is creating cards without layers for our challenge this week.

I used Sunflowers and Dragonflies Alice in Wonderland image and sentiment to create this "Some Bunny Loves You" card.

I colored Alice with Copic Markers, and used the masking technique to shade around her using a Nestie die as a stencil.  The sentiment was stamped in black ink and I used an EK Success heart border punch and my Score Pal to create a bit of dimension without using layers!

Feel free to play along with this sketch if you'd like, and if you do, please link me up so I can see what you came up with.  Unfortunately Beth’s Blog is corrupted and is still getting fixed!  We won't have any prizes for the challenges until things are up and running, so please be patient with us.

In the mean time, you can browse the other S&D DT Blogs to see how everyone else used this sketch!

Thanks for visiting today and have a great weekend!

DRS Designs No Layer Challenge

This week the challenge on the DRS Designs Blog is to make a no layer card! It's time to get back to basics!!! Sometimes you need a quick but not overly done card and with this challenge we hope to inspire you with ideas on how to make your own quick, no layer cards. We would love for you to participate because sharing is the best source of inspiration right? If you do participate, please post a direct link to your creation in the comment section of the challenge (#17) post on the DRS Designs Blog and if you upload it to a public gallery, please use the keyword DRSC17.

To sweeten the deal, we're offering a set of note cards and an unmounted image to a random participant. Be sure to link your creation by 8pm on Sunday, April 5 to be included in the drawing.
Here's my No Layer Challenge Card:

To create this card I used smooth white cardstock to form my card base. I stamped the Large Beer Mug image in the center of the card front and colored it with markers. Then, I stamped the sentiment on top of the image using my Stamp-a-ma-jig for assistance. I used my Score-Pal to create the scored lines on either side of the image and applied Stickles to the beer "foam."

Stamps: DRS Designs- Large Beer Mug, Beer is the Answer Sentiment
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black

Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot
Accessories: Bic Markers, Score-Pal, Stickles, Stamp-a-ma-jig
Finished Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

I have to admit, I really like the simplicity and quickness of these types of cards. I bet you'll be seeing more no layer cards from me soon!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great week!

Smiles,
Jennifer
