Welcome to Ink N Scrap Habits!
I've created this blog to share my life & love of paper crafts with others. You will read bits and pieces of what goes on in my world and be able to see my paper craft creations! Please leave me a comment if you see something you like. I'd love to hear from you!
This weeks challenge on the DRS Designs blog has me thinking outside the box! The challenge is titled, "Just Half." You are to use only half an image/sentiment etc. on your challenge entry. I've never done this before, but I think it's a great idea! Here's what this challenge inspired me to do...
I used a portion of the thread spool image from the Daily Thread Greeting (173E) to create the borders on my card front. All of the spools were colored with Copic Markers. The banner in the center of the card was cut out using a fish tail die and before removing it from the die, I sponged it with light brown ink to create the white border around it. Then after matting it I tied a dark purple ribbon on the left side to embellish it. Fairly simple and way cute, don't you think?
Can I interest you in getting some FREE stamps from DRS Designs? Keep in mind that DRS Designs often has different opportunities for you to win store vouchers and earn free stamps just for playing along in several challenges. Every Thursday, a new challenge is posted on the DRS Designs Blog, and this week DRS Designs is the sponsor over at the Just Inspirational Challenges Blog. Their challenge theme is "Wishes." Think Get Well, birthday, Christmas wishes etc. for this challenge. I hope you get a chance to play along!
Good Luck and have a great day!
I know everyone likes to win free stuff and even better for us stampers is winning free stamping stuff! Today on the DRS Designs blog a new challenge begins every Thursday where one lucky participant will win a free package of stamps!
This weeks challenge is Faux Sewing! I love the ease of this technique and not having to drag out my sewing machine just to get that sewing look! Here's my card.
The DRS Designs stamps I've used on this card are the Santa in your Stockings Greeting (118F), the Santa Face (541E), and the Woven Plaid Background (613P). If any of these stamps spark your interest I encourage you to play along and link your Faux Sewing challenge card for a chance to win! The 3 stamps used on the card above are the prize we're giving away for this challenge.
You can find the challenge post HERE.
Thanks for blog hoppin' and stoppin' here. I appreciate your visit!

A little late, but I've completed another Sewing Saturday card! The layout I used for this card is from this weeks Stamp Something Blog Challenge. DRS Designs is the sponsor and they are giving away another $20 store voucher! Here's the sketch you have to play with to be eligible: I change it up a bit and created an A2 size card instead of square and used an oval instead of a circle for my image. The image is DRS Designs new Large Screcrow (426L). It is part of the new Fall release, and you can see the rest of these great stamps HERE.
The scarecrow was colored with Copic Markers, and I used the Out-Of-The-Box technique to cut him out using a Nestability die.
I've paired him up with the Small Autumn Greetings sentiment (422B). Other details for this card include red and yellow thread, yellow and brown self adhesive buttons, and the edge of the image and the yellow card front were both distressed with Vintage Photo distressing ink.
Thanks for stopping by to see my sewing Saturday card. Make sure to check out the new DRS stamps and check back often in the next week, as I plan on stamping the weekend away so I'll have lots of new stuff for you in the next week!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Smiles,
Jennifer

I am well on my way with my new Sewing Saturday feature, and I'm glad to report that I've stayed on top of my goal! Here's my second Sewing Saturday card for ya!
Before I added ghosts to the right side of the scene, I framed off a small area for the second half of the "Get In The Spirit" greeting using a Nestability die. I sponged charcoal ink around the edges and colored in the word "Spirit" with an orange Copic Marker. I then covered it with a mask and finished adding the ghosts around it. I then used a black Copic marker to fill in the spaces between all the ghosts.
I added a black and silver decorative border, and black and white ribbon to the top of my card front as shown. Sewing came into play by adding small orange zig-zag stitches to the top and bottom of the ribbon to complement the orange in the word "Spirit". My card front was then adhered to a black cardstock base.
Thanks for stopping by! Hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween!

Jennifer
After all the fun I had making this card awhile ago, I swore that I would do more sewing on my cards. Ever since then, the machine has been out and ready to go--the whole purpose of leaving it out was so that I would use it more often! For some reason, even though I see it every time I sit down at my craft table, my little Janome sewing maching seems to overwhelm me and I hardly ever use it. Definitely, not my original intention that justified the purchase when I bought it. But, when I do use it I'm reminded of how easy and fun it is! So, now...that's it, no more excuses! I MUST use it and WILL!
With that being said, I welcome you to my first installment of Sewing Saturday! Every Saturday I'm challenging myself to share something with you that has sewing on it! If you see a card during the other days of the week with sewing on it, then that's just a bonus! ;-)
In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, here's my first Sewing Saturday card.
I stamped DRS Designs Cancer Is...Greeting (L113) as the focal point on my card. I stamped it in black ink and then masked off the edges with Post-It Notes and sponged pink ink over the wording. After I removed the Post It Notes I had a nice white frame around it. I used some Photo Corner punches to decorate around the saying a touch of pink ribbon and a single pink brad made it complete!
Thanks for stopping by!
So now that I've told you all about my Sewing Saturdays, you must hold me to it! Feel free to scold me in your comments, when you don't see a Sewing Saturday card, ok?Smiles,
Jennifer
Hello Friends and Happy Thursday to ya!
It's not too late to enter the sketch challenge sponsored by DRS Designs over at the Card Patterns Blog. I created a second card using this sketch.
I used some of DRS Designs new stamps to create this card. The Smooshed S'more (382E) and the S'more Greeting (376K) worked perfectly with this sketch!
The image was colored with Copic Markers. Can you believe I actually got my sewing machine out and added a bit of stitched detail to the layout!?!?!? I wish I had the time to do this more often. It added so much oomph! I hope you enjoyed seeing it as much as I enjoyed making it!
Don't forget to link your take on this sketch HERE to be eligible for the prize!
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
Smiles,
Jennifer
