Time for Cake!

Window cards can be so much fun to make, but it does take a bit of patience to get everything work in and around the window!  I quickly learned that while making this card, as I had to stamp the Silhouette Birthday Cake (H493) from DRS Designs several times to get it to work just right!   Keeping this card in the monochromatic color scheme, the cake was stamped in SU! Rose Red.  The greeting I used on the front of this card is the Birthday Wishes Come True Greeting (E508) .

Here's a shot of the inside of the card.  You can see how precise the window had to be!

I added some matting for a pop of color on the inside and then stamped the Birthday Arc (E211) above the cake.

I really like this card, because it is so different and out of the norm for me.  Fun, huh?

Get Well Soon!

Have you ever made your own background paper?

I did on this card by stamping DRS Designs Interlocking Flower Background stamp (H813) repeatedly on light blue cardstock.  Then I used Copic Markers and a white Gel pen to color in the flowers.  It was quick and oh so easy to create! I love the shading created by the different Copic Maarkers I used--B00, B02, and B05.  The white gel pen is the perfect accent!

The greeting used in this card is DRS Designs Bloming with Good Health Greeting (G055).  I split it up and used the upper portion of it as the focal point on my card front.  The bottom of the card was decorated with rhinestones and the rest of the sentiment.  I also used a floral Cuttlebug embossing folder, small blue rhinestones, and elegant white and silver ribbon to complete this card.  I hope you enjoyed it!

Bees or Rabbits?

Happy Friday!

Well, it's been a long time since I've acknowledged that I even own some House Mouse and Happy Hoppers!  As I was going thru some cards I made in the past, this one clearly jumped out at me.   So, yes, I didn't recently make this one, but this is one of those "oldie, but goody" cards. I just love this stamp, it's absolutly adorable!

I colored this image with Prismacolor Pencils and blended the colors with Gamsol.  The edges were inked with Yellow Orchre Colorbox Chalk ink and I used black brads, a black spiral clip and ribbon to embellish it.  The bee pattern paper in the background is by The Paper Patch.
Enjoy and Have a wonderful weekend!

Friendship!

Friendship is such an important part of our lives.  Have you ever thought about where you'd be today without your friends?  I know know I'd be lost! LOL!
I created today's card using stamps from DRS Designs.  To complement the Big Thing Friendship greeting (H284) and as a play on the word "Big" in it, I paired the sentiment with the Bloomin' Huge Flower (M1023). I used my Prismacolor Pencils and Gamsol to color the flower.  Yep, that's right, I got my pencils out!  I've been on such a Copic Marker craze since Christmas when I got them, that my pencils were beginning to feel neglected!  :-)
I painted the flower with Burgundy Shimmerz to give it some shine, and since the sentiment is large, I split it up above and below the Bloomin' huge flower to make it fit.  A bit of ribbon and lots of fun rhinestones made this card complete!

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Feel Better Soon!

Hi Friends! Happy Monday to you all!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend celebrating with all the dads out there and that you're all rested up for the work week.  I had a very nice weekend, and had a nice chunk of time in my stamp room on Saturday.  I was able to finish 3 cards!

It's been a really long time since I've played with a sketch challenge. I finally added the sketch you see below to my to-do list.  It was really nice not to have to think too hard about making today's card--I always find the layouts to be the hardest part, but with this card, everything just feel right into place.

I used this weeks Card Patterns sketch 69 for my layout.

Here's my interpretation of it.

As you can see, I've used Leonard Pig Sick Day Blues (G1019) from DRS Designs.  I colored this image with Copic Markers.  I also used the Cured Yet Greeting (E1015), but I split it up into 3 parts to make it work with this sketch.  A little ribbon and some Primas flowers with brads dressed this card right up!

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my Leonard card.  Don't worry he'll feel better soon! ;-)

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all you Dads out there!
Here's the Father's Day card I made for my Dad today.

He loves Golf, so I knew I had to make a card using one of the many golf images from DRS Designs.  I chose the Golf Icon image (H973).  I stamped it twice and colored one of them fully with Copic Markers and then only the greens, flag and sun on the other, so that I could pop-dot them on the first image.  I used just the "Happy Father's Day" portion from the Ten Mile Father's Day Greeting (G280).

Hope you all have a wonderful day celebrating with all the Dads out there!  Don't forget to tell him how special he is to you!

Scrapling Birthday Card

I'm on a roll with these scraplings!  Did you see my post from the other day where I created several different scrapling cards?  Today I have a different type of scrapling card to show you.

This card has a Scrapling on it.  I created the scrapling part of this card using DRS Designs Birthday Party Postage Frame stamp (H773).  I colored it with Copic Markers.  The area where you're supposed to put the postage stamp, I covered with yellow cardstock and then pop dotted the balloon from DRS Designs Here For The Party Cutie Pie Kid stamp (K670).  I even added a real piece of string to the balloon!

Inside the Scrapling I stamped the It's All About You Birthday greeting (H371).  I also used the Delightful Surprises Birthday Greeting (G409) on the actual card front.

Yes, the bottom red base is an actual card.  Not sure why I didn't take a picture of it, but you get the idea.

Well, that's it for today. Thanks for leaving me your comments.  I appreciate your visit!

Have a great weekend!

Ever Heard of Scraplings?

Have you ever heard of Scraplings?

Scrapling cards are strips of cardstock that measure 1.25”x 8.5" scored at the 4.25" mark so that you have a tall and very skinny card.  Best part is that you often have scraps laying around that are this size from making larger size cards.   It's always great when you can re-use your scraps!

I've been busy trying these out. I made several Scraplings yesterday during my Scrap Therapy session--Papercrafting seems to be a complete stress reliever these days-I love disappearing into this other world where it's just me, my stamps, paper, and ink and not a care in the world!  Can you relate to this?

Anyways, here they are!

Like I said, very tall and skinny! However, these are not even as skinny as they should be! I made them a bit wider to accomodate my stamped images and to also include room for a bit of matting.

I used stamps from DRS Designs on each Scrapling.

This first one uses the Holly/Candy Cane Postage Frame (H998).  I colored it with Copic Markers and then carefully cut it out along the Holly border. I covered the postage frame part with red cardstock and added the Triple Holly (F1004) image in that space.  The background was created using White Staz On ink and the Lines O'Plenty Background (H366).

Next up with a bit of Golden flair, is my Sunflower Scrapling.  It is very similar to the one above, since it is also a postage frame stamp.  This one uses the Sunflower Postage Frame (H710), and it too was colored with Copic Markers.

As you can see I added brown cardstock to the area where the postage should go.  I stamped this image a second time and then colored and cut out the bottom sunflower to fill the postage frame space. After matting it with green cardstock I added some ribbon.  The yellow base was embossed with the Stars Cuttlebug Embossing folder to add a bit of texture.

Finally, the last one is also for the holidays.  It uses the Vertical Let It Snow (H233) stamp

This image was colored with Prismacolor Pencils and the colors were blended with Gamsol.  A bit difficult to see, but by looking closely, you can see that the red cardstock base was stamped with the small snowflake from the 4 in 1 Snowflake stamp (D096) and white ink.  This Scrapling was the plainest of a ll three, so to bling it up a bit I added Stickles to the Snowman's face and to all the snowflakes. A bit of red ribbon dressed it up too.

So, what did you think of my Scraplings?  Do you have a favorite? Are you brave enough to give them a try? Leave me a link if you do, I'd love to see yours!

Have a great day!

It's always so very sad when someone loses a pet, but when the time comes, I like having cards like this pet sympathy one on hand.  DRS Designs Pet Sympathy sentiment (H074) is so sincere.
Both the Small Cat Print (A1006) and the Small Dog Print (A1003) images are also by DRS Designs.  I stamped them with Versamark ink in the background on the card base.  The Pet Sympathy sentiment and the dark brown paw print were stamped in SU! Chocolate Chip.  I used Post It Notes to mask off the edges around the sentiment and sponged light blue ink over the wording.  A bit of embossing with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and a small dog bone embellished this card nicely.

For a Special Birthday Boy!

One of the things I loved about going on the stamp retreat weekend with the girls from the Stamp Shack back in April was getting to use products from all the other stampers there!  We joked and laugh as we called it "shopping!"  Since I sat right next to Chelsea, I often "shopped" at her place and I used a bunch of her TAC stamps to stamp a wide variety of images for future use.  Best part about this "shopping" is that it was always free, and it usually entailed a bit of inspiration or a quick stamping tip!

This adorable little boy is one of the images I stamped from her.
I colored him with Copic Markers and accented this card and image using some stamps from DRS Designs. I stamped the Easy Grass Background (E059) around his feet with SU! Glorious Green ink after I sponged it with olive green ink on the ground area.

Then, I paired it up with DRS Designs Birthday Boy Greeting (E590)--I thought this image was just too cute and made the perfect birthday card for a little boy who likes to fish .  Notice anything different about this particular card compared to the majority of other's I've made?  I'll give you a day or two to think about before I reveal what I'm talking about here.  Leave your answer in a comment and I'll see if I can round up a small prize to mail to the person who gets it right!

Thanks for visiting today!
Have a great day!

For a Man's Birthday!

Is this the perfect Man card or what!?!?!?

This Beer is the Answer (G486) sentiment and the Large Beer Mug (H557) are from DRS Designs.  That sentiment just makes me laugh!  I only used the beginning portion of this stamp, but the other half reads "Now I just have to remember the question!"   I added the small one line Happy Birthday sentiment (B250) and added a single rhinestone on either side of it.  Yep, those are rhinestones! I colored them with my black Copic Marker.

What man wouldn't love this card on his birthday? I"m so used to heavily embellishing my cards that this looked too plain to me.  So, I dressed it up a bit by adding Stickles to the foam part of the beer and then I created the look of real glass by putting Diamond Glaze on the mug. Now, if only there was a way for me to make it "cold!"  ;-)

It's All About You!

DRS Designs is sponsoring this month's Caardvarks Blog challenge.  The challenge is to do dry and/or wet embossing on your project.  We hope that you'll play along and link your card on the Caardvarks Blog.  DRS Designs is giving away 2 prize packages of 15 stamps (!) each.  The stamps in these package are from the DRS Designs Stamp A Day Give Away!

I did both dry and wet embossing on today's card.

I embossed the background with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing folder and then heat embossed the balloons.  The balloons were adhered in place with foam tape.  The sentiment is also heat embossed.

Good luck playing in the challenge and winning a set of 15 stamps from DRS Designs!

When Nothing is Going Right...

...Go Left!

Isn't that the truth!?!?!

As you can see, I'm showing of DRS Designs popular Ladybug Stack Up (G695) image on todays card.  I thought they were a perfect match with the Nothing Goes Right Sentiment (D152) since the lady bugs are facing in both directions.

I colored the bugs with Copic Markers, created a mask and sponged blue ink around them and then masked off the sky to add the grass.  I stamped the Easy Grass Background (E059) after sponging the area with olive ink.
The background was embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttelbug Embossing folder and I added rhinestones that I colored with my Copic Markers to coordinate with the color scheme of this card.  The red and block plaid ribbons made this card complete!

Summer's Here!

With Memorial Day behind us now, the Summer is practically here! I know with tempreatures recently in the high 80's it sure feels like it!  So, I've been hiding out in my stamp room over the last few days cooling off in the air conditioner and stamping all things fun and summer.  Using stamps like DRS Design's Beach Baby Cutie Pie Kid (F1094) and the Fun in the Sun sentiment (D1072) is exactly what I'm talking about!

I colored this Beach Baby with Copic Markers.  The shading around her was created by laying a mask over her and sponging blue ink around her while the image was still in the Nesties die.  If people are wearing bathing suits, then there must be waves near by--using my Fiskars wave border punch was a must!  The Divine Swirls Cuttlebug Embossing folder enhanced the water effect on this card.

Don't forget to check out the DRS Designs Blog today and every day in June.  DRS Designs is giving away one free cling mounted stamp everyday. Just leave a comment on the DRS Designs blog every day in June to be entered.  See all the details HERE
