Save The Earth!

Hi Everyone!

I got creative in making this card for the current DRS Designs blog challenge. The theme is "Tasty" and I know a few people in my family would agree that beer is exactly that!

I used the brand new World Map Background (572P) as my focal point and colored it with Copic Markers. I fussy cut it out and adhered it onto a piece of Ivory card stock. I created the card base from tan card stock to measure for an A2 size card. I distressed the edges with brown ink and stamped the Only Planet With Chocolate greeting (806D) but I omitted the word "chocolate."  I replaced it with the word "beer" from the Beer Is The Answer (486G) stamp. I stamped the Small Beer Mug (528C), colored it with Copic Markers and fussy cut it out to use as an embellishment. I assembled the card front as shown and my card was complete!

Beer IS the Answer!

Hi Friends! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

I had a nice restful weekend at home--visiting with family, got a massage and even had some time to myself to get a some stamping done! Here's one of the cards I made.  I think these beer stamps from DRS Designs are hilarious! They make a perfect masculine birthday card or they could be great for St. Patrick's Day too!

I used the Large Beer Mug (557H) here as my focal point and colored it with Copic Markers.  I created a banner to show off the bold part of the Beer is the Answer Greeting (486G) and embellished it with a button and twine.  I popped it up with some foam tape and adhered it over the image as shown.  I stamped the rest of the greeting on the bottom of my card front and added 2 black brads to the upper left corner.

For a realistic look, I added Diamond Glaze to the beer mug to make it look like glass. I love what Diamond Glaze adds to the elements on a card!  I'm amazed at how real it looks and I often find myself admiring the finished product by running my fingers over the shiny area repeatedly. Do you like it as much as I do?

Hope you enjoyed today's card and I hope you'll be back to visit soon!
Thanks for stopping by!

Green Beer!

While blog hopping the other day, I was immediately inspired by this sketch on the 365 Cards Blog.  It looked like a lot of fun, so I decided to give it a try.  This Green Beer card was the outcome, and each part of this card easily fell right into place!

All of the stamps used on this card are by DRS Designs.  I created my own designer paper by stamping the Shamrock Background (326H) with dark green ink. I also distressed the edges of the green and white cardstock pieces in the background.  The Drink Green Beer Greeting (644G) and the One Line St. Pat's Day Greeting (636D) are from DRS Designs brand new St. Patrick's Day collection and were recently released.

I couldn't help but add some Diamond Glaze to the Large Beer Mug (577H) to make it look like real glass and some Stickles to the foam really makes it fun!

Thanks for visiting! Hope you have a wonderful Day!

For a Man's Birthday!

Is this the perfect Man card or what!?!?!?

This Beer is the Answer (G486) sentiment and the Large Beer Mug (H557) are from DRS Designs.  That sentiment just makes me laugh!  I only used the beginning portion of this stamp, but the other half reads "Now I just have to remember the question!"   I added the small one line Happy Birthday sentiment (B250) and added a single rhinestone on either side of it.  Yep, those are rhinestones! I colored them with my black Copic Marker.

What man wouldn't love this card on his birthday? I"m so used to heavily embellishing my cards that this looked too plain to me.  So, I dressed it up a bit by adding Stickles to the foam part of the beer and then I created the look of real glass by putting Diamond Glaze on the mug. Now, if only there was a way for me to make it "cold!"  ;-)

Cute Card Thursday Challenge-Quotes!

DRS Designs is this week's sponsor on the Cute Card Thursday Blog. The challenge is "quotes."

I thought it was only appropriate to use an actual quote & what could be better than this one from Ben Franklin? The image & sentiment are from DRS designs and I attempted last weeks SCS sketch challenge #232 for the layout.

I colored the beer mug image with marker...

...and used lots of black grosgrain ribbon, some brads, and a spiral clip to decorate it!

Stamps: DRS Designs- Large Beer Mug (H557), Franklin's Wisest Words (E1101)
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Georgia Pacific, Colored Cardstock by The Paper Company, American Crafts
Accessories: Bic Markers, Nesties, Brads by Joann's Scrap Essentials, Ribbon by Bobbie M. Designs, Spiral Clip by The Paper Studio,
Finished Card Size: 7.5" x 5"

Feel free to participate in the quote challenge too. You have a chance to win some great rubber designs and quotes from DRS Designs for doing so on the Cute Card Thursday site. Make sure to post your challenge card on their site for a chance to win.

So, do you have a favorite quote?

"Beer is Proof that Gods loves Us!"

In my new package of rubber from DRS Designs the other day, I received this fun quote from Ben Franklin. "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." I can see myself using this quote over & over for all of the masculine cards I need to make over the next year!

Here's my first one, using this week's CPS Sketch 111 for the layout. What guy wouldn't love getting a card like this for his birthday?

This sketch was pretty easy to work with. I colored the beer mug image with marker and painted the "foam" with Shimmerz. Then I added Diamond Glaze to the mug and handle giving it that real glass look.

Stamps: DRS Designs- Franklin's Wisest Words, Large Beer Mug
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by The Paper Company and Bazzill
Accessories: Bic Markers, Nesties, Diamond Glaze, Opal Shimmerz
Finished Card Size: 4.25" x 6.5"

My Husband doesn't really understand my card making addiction. Regardless, I always show him my cards and ask him what he thinks and I usually get a response like "Oh It's perfect!" with tons of sarcasm. However, when I showed him this card, his face lit up & he said that he "liked this one, now only if you could make it a scratch and sniff!" Little does he know that we can actually make scratch & sniff cards, but how would you create the beer smell? Do they make beer flavored Kool-Aid???

I guess to some, beer and happiness go hand & hand. Maybe Ben Franklin was right, but all I do know is that boys will always be boys!

Jennifer

DRS Designs No Layer Challenge

This week the challenge on the DRS Designs Blog is to make a no layer card! It's time to get back to basics!!! Sometimes you need a quick but not overly done card and with this challenge we hope to inspire you with ideas on how to make your own quick, no layer cards. We would love for you to participate because sharing is the best source of inspiration right? If you do participate, please post a direct link to your creation in the comment section of the challenge (#17) post on the DRS Designs Blog and if you upload it to a public gallery, please use the keyword DRSC17.

To sweeten the deal, we're offering a set of note cards and an unmounted image to a random participant. Be sure to link your creation by 8pm on Sunday, April 5 to be included in the drawing.
Here's my No Layer Challenge Card:

To create this card I used smooth white cardstock to form my card base. I stamped the Large Beer Mug image in the center of the card front and colored it with markers. Then, I stamped the sentiment on top of the image using my Stamp-a-ma-jig for assistance. I used my Score-Pal to create the scored lines on either side of the image and applied Stickles to the beer "foam."

Stamps: DRS Designs- Large Beer Mug, Beer is the Answer Sentiment
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black

Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot
Accessories: Bic Markers, Score-Pal, Stickles, Stamp-a-ma-jig
Finished Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

I have to admit, I really like the simplicity and quickness of these types of cards. I bet you'll be seeing more no layer cards from me soon!

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great week!

Smiles,
Jennifer
