It's Picnic Time!

Happy Memorial Day!

Memorial Day offically kicks off the beginning of Summer for us here in the US.   It's an important time to remember and thank all of our Service men and women who have helped make our country all it is today!

Since this long weekend is often celebrated with picnics and BBQ's,  I thought this Fun In The Sun card was fitting for the holiday.

All images and the sentiment are by DRS Designs.  I created my own background paper for this card by stamping the Open Plaid Backgrounder (P631) with White Staz On.  The Picnic Basket image (K1104) was colored with Copic markers, and becuase a picnic in the rain wouldn't be much fun, I chose the Fun In The Sun (D1072) greeting for this card.

Aren't those little ants cute?  I cut them off of the picnic basket stamp to use alone and create a border for the edge of my card front. They remind me of that kids tune "The Ants Go Marching!"

Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day!

Here's a peek!

I hope you'll run over there to check out.  If you do, please leave me a comment so I know you were there to visit!

Thanks so much and have a wonderful hoilday weekend!

Let The Sun Shine!

Thanks to everyone who sent me well wishes. I'm definitely feeling much better, and to go along with my card for today, my days are looking much brighter!
:-)

Our Summer weather here in Michigan is off to a strong start.  It's a hot and humid 86 degress right now as I type this.  The heat wave we've had over the last few days inspired me to create the card I made for today.

I created the paper I used in the background by stamping 3 diffferent stamps from DRS Designs:

The "You Brighten My Day" sentiment (D272) is also by DRS Designs.  Just like the sun is bright and shiny, I used things that are bright and shiny to decorate this card--Yellow Stickles on the sun images, and rhinestones colored with a yellow Copic marker to frame the sentiment, and some yummy orange ribbon!

Have you heard about DRS Designs Stamp A Day Give Away they have scheduled for June?  Just like the name of the game says, DRS Designs is giving away one free stamp everyday for the entire month of June!  You can find all of the details you need to play HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Get Well

Ever create a card that you want to give to yourself?  That's how I feel today.  I created this Get Well card several weeks ago and thought today was a good day to finally get it posted.  Not sure if I caught some cooties or if it's just allergies that are in full force but I've felt icky over the last few days.

The silhouette wheelchair image and the Get Well sentiment on this card are by DRS Designs

Sorry for the quick post today, but I need to go back to bed and rest up for work later today.  Hope to be back tomorrow or Wednesday with another project to share.
Until then...

Cute and Girly!

DRS Designs is sponsoring this week's A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge

Cute and Girly
is what it's all about!  To me, that means lots of pinks and reds, fun ribbon, rhinestones and of course a cute and girlie image!

What could be more cute and girlie than this adorable Happy Hat Girl (H646) from DRS Designs' Cutie Pie Collection?  I colored her with Copic Markers.  I also created my own pattern paper by stamping the Diaper Pin (A354) image repeatedly with red ink.

The sentiment I used is a portion of the Wrapped Warm and Snug New Baby Greeting (H131).
Make sure to run over to the A Spoon Full of Sugar Blog to check out the fab prize you can win from DRS Designs just for playing along!  Good Luck!

Thanks for visiting today!

~Fishing~

How is this for a Monday morning funny?  This Fishing Sentiment (G276) is one of DRS Designs new sentiments that was just released a few weeks ago. It completely cracks me up!  LOL!

I used the Jumping Fish image (L325) also from DRS Designs and colored it with Copic Markers.  I created my own pattern paper by stamping the Fishing Pole (G270) repeatedly with brown ink on peach cardstock.

Fish always seem to have a metallic shine to them so I thought it was appropriate that this fish looks the same--I painted it with Orange Sherbet Shimmerz to create that effect.  Some gold brads and some white string embellished this card nicely.

Happy Monday to you!
Hope you have a great day!

Better Late Than Never!

"Because I said so, that's why!"  Did your Mom ever say this to you as kid?  My Mom said it all the time and I hated it! When I saw this new sentiment from DRS Designs I just had to laugh, it made me think of my Mom right away!  This was the Mother's Day card I made for my her.  I thought it was funny to "give her a taste of her own medicine," and let my card say it right back to her!

The  focal image I used on this card is "Spring Time Helper" (L634) from the Cutie Pie Kids Collection.  I colored it with Copic Markers, then used the masking technique to shade blue ink for the sky and green ink for the grass.  Then I used the Easy Grass Background (E059) and dark green ink to add the grass blades to my image.

I used red and yellow Stickles to the flowers to add a bit of sparkle to my card.
Have a great day!

Out Of This World!

Last week, DRS Designs released a bunch of fun, new stamps.  Have you seen them?  The card I have for today shows off one of their new sentiment, the Out Of This World Birthday Greeting (F267), and it's matching image, Spaceboy Skip (H285)
I love the way this card turned out, and it will be perfect for my Godson who will be 7 years old very soon!

I created the background by heat embossing the sentiment and the Starry Background (H124) with yellow embossing powder.  I attached a red ribbon to the bottom of it and attached it to a blue cardstock base.

I colored the image with Copic Markers and then used the masking technique and sponged light blue ink all around the spaceship.  The Spaceship, the crater, and the small planet were pop dotted to make then look like they were really "hanging out in space."  I added some Diamond Glaze to the spaceship window and to the face shields of both "Astronauts."  Then, some yellow Stickles on each of the stars and on the Spaceship exhaust gave this card a bit of sparkle!
Enjoy!

Changes!

I apologize ahead of time for today's boring post.  No pictures, no projects, only a bit of rambling.  I'm also sorry for not posting as often as I usually do.   I've been undergoing a bit of a transition and I thought I'd share a bit to fill you in.

This last month has been a bit of a struggle to keep up with everything in general.  I work afternoons and on April 2nd, my husband switched shifts from midnights to days permanently.  For the last 9 years, I've stayed up late at night with him, and now that he's been going to bed earlier and getting up much earlier in the day, I find myself slowly adapting to the same trend.  However, I'm still on the afternoon shift, so that means I only have a few hours in the morning to cook, clean, stamp, and blog becuase by the time I get home from work I'm exhausted from getting up so early, so I just go right to bed.  In due time this should correct itself, but in the mean time, boy what a change!

Another change that has come about is that I've recently been named the DT Coordinator for the DRS Designs DT!  I'm really excited about this position and eager to start "coordinating" some upcoming events. In adddition, the DT has also recently expanded to include 6 additional team members.  I've been busy trying to get many things scheduled for the team and getting the new members on board and acclimated with the team blog etc. Of course with every new position, there are also new duties that come along with it, but unfortunately, those duties have taken me away from my stamping room for a bit.  I am happy to report that DRS Designs has a lot of new and fun stuff planned for the upcoming months, and I'm very excited to share the details with all of you! However for now, I must keep my lips sealed, and let me tell you, that IS the hard part!  Once the DT becomes situated things should calm down a bit, so in the mean time please accept my apology for my sporatic posting.

Thanks for hanging in there with me.  You all mean a lot to me and I greatly appreciate your comments.  Stay tuned for some fun stuff from DRS Designs coming very soon!

Hope all of you Moms out there had a wonderful Mother's Day!

Jennifer

Thinking Of You!

Happy Thursday! I'm so glad the weekend is almost here.  We've been so busy lately finishing up some odds and ends in the house and in our yard, that I'm really hoping to get some time to rest since the weather is supposed to be rainy all weekend long.  (To me that also means that I hope I get to stamp, stamp, stamp!)

I created this card for Kimmy, a friend of mine, who was unable to go to on the Shackapolooza stamping weekend with the rest of us.   We passed it around and everyone signed their "Miss You" wishes.  I wanted to make sure she knew we were thinking of her, and that she hadn't been forgotten.  Stamping just isn't the same without her.

This adorable bear image is from Holly Berry House.  I colored it with Copic markers, using a new-to-me technique taught by my friend Chelsea from the Stamp Shack.  (Thanks again for the demo!) I antiqued the edges with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo Distressing ink, and the sentiment is from SU! Whimsical Words.  On a card like this, I really think the embossing from the Swiss Dot Cuttlebug folder is so elegant looking, don't you think?

Hope you have a great day!

Jennifer

It's Monday. Hope It's Wonderful!

Isn't this singing frog from DRS Designs cute and perfect to cheer up anyone with the Monday blues?

I colored the image on this card with Copic Markers.  Then I masked it off with a Post-It Note and sponged blue ink around it.  The "Toad"ally Wonderful Day sentiment was stamped in SU! Glorious Green and cut out with a Nestability die.  I sponged blue ink over the sentiment while it was still in the die.  The frog was matted with cardstock that was punched with my new EK Success Border Punch.

Well, lucky for me it's my Friday, so I know I'll have a "toad"ally wonderful day today--I'm looking forward to my day off tomorrow!
I wish that you have a "toad"ally wonderful day too!

Thanks for stopping by and for leaving me your comments.  I read and appreciate them all!

Smiles,
Jennifer
