Watermelon Friend!

Now that it's July, Summer is definitely here!  We've had some very hot days recently, and I admit, I love it!  How's your Summer going so far?  I hope it's been filled with lots of sunshine and with BBQ's and yummy watermelon too!  Hopefully however, your watermelon doesn't have ants like mine does today! LOL!

This card shows off one of the new Summer stamps just released from DRS Designs.  Isn't this Watermelon Friend (798H) adorable?  

I colored this image with Copic Markers and sponged the top area of it with blue ink while it was still in a Nestie die.  I used the 2 little ants from the Picnic Basket stamp (1104K) to create the ant border.  The swiss Dots Embossing folder, some ribbon and twine and a few red brads finished it nicely.  Finished sized is 5.5" x 4.25."  Hope you enjoyed it!

Stars and Stripes Forever!

Happy 4th of July!

Hope you're all out celebrating our Nation's Independence Day with family, friends, and all fun Summer things!

Today's card I'm sharing with you was made just for the Independence Day Holiday.  I've used 3 of DRS Designs new releases on it--the Tiny Patriot (801H), Stars Stripes Forever Sentiment (823F), and the Happy Independence Day sentiment (822D). 

Isn't that Tiny Patriot adorable!?!?!?  All coloring was done with Copic Markers.  I created my own pattern paper by stamping off the Interlocking Star background (819H) with blue ink so it was light enough that the Independence Day sentiment could be easily seen.  A simple satin red ribbon and bow separated the 2 background panels and then the card front was adhered to a red cardstock base. This finished card size measures A2-5.5" x 4.25".

Freedom!

Hope you're all having a wonderful holiday weekend and that the weather is cooperating with all of your Summer plans where you are!  Here in Michigan we're expecting a very sunny and hot 88*F.  Perfect for all of the pool parties and BBQ's, and better yet, no rain expected for the fireworks display at night!

So, after my previous post where my Husband thought my "Let Freedom Ring" Independence Day card should have been done in red, white, and blue, I decided to take his advice and use those colors for today's card.  All of the stamps I've used here are by DRS Designs.  I created the Polka Dot paper using the Polka Dot Background (688P) and then lightly inking the edges with blue ink.  I stamped the Independence Day Sentiment (822D) below a matching blue ribbon and added 3 red brads near the top to add a pop of color. 

The Freedom Cannon (814L) was colored with Copic Markers and I used Waterfall Stickles to add some sparkle to the fireworks.  Simple, yet festive wouldn't you say?

Let Freedom Ring!

Wow!  Can you believe it's the last week in June already!?!? This year is just flying by, but I admit, I am enjoying the nicer weather.  Dare I say that it won't be long before we are getting out our Winter coats and waiting for the man in the big red suit! But, we won't go there just yet--Summer is just beginning and the 4th of July holiday is next weekend! Are you ready for the BBQ's and fireworks?

Today's card was made using the new 4th of July stamps from DRS Designs.  While I was making this card, Hubby came in to see what I was working on, so when it was finished I thought I should show it off to him.  He *liked* it, but he did add his two cents in and say that he thought it should have been done in red, white, and blue. 

Well, I'm not exactly sure what made me color the Liberty Bell (800H) yellow to begin with (maybe I *was* thinking Christmas bells!) but, I don't think it would have seemed realistic if I colored it red or blue!  I colored it with Copic Markers and then masked the edges around the bell with Post-It Notes and shaded around it with light brown ink.  I love that framed look this technique creates! The background was stamped with the Interlocking Star Background stamp (819H) with yellow ink and I added the Let Freedom Ring (802D) and Happy Independence Day (822D) sentiments.

Well, that's about it for me today--still waiting on this baby to make his or her arrival.  I'll keep you posted!

Until They All Come Home!

I am pleased to announce that DRS Designs has new stamps in store for you! I'm sure you'll love them as much as I do! These stamps are just in time to celebrate the beginning of Summer and the 4th of July holiday!  You can see all of the new releases HERE.

The card I have to share with you today is appropriate for this week with all of the talk about the President's speech from the other night.  I've used the Until They Come Home Greeting (825F) from this release.  The Support Our Troops Ribbon (952G) is from the DRS Designs current catalog. I colored it with Copic Markers, cut it out and matted it on a nested oval.  I used the Cuttlebug Stars Embossing Folder for the background.

I hope and pray that all of our troops come home safe, sound, and that you have a great 4th of July holiday!

June Birthday!

For my card today I have used the June Birthday Design (796G) from DRS Designs. 

I colored this image with Copic Markers, inked the edges with yellow ink, and added yellow Stickles to the flower centers to add a bit of glitter goodness to this card!

Unfortunately, you can't see it because I was unable to get it to photograph well, but I also stamped the Interlocking Flower Background (813H) in light apricot ink over the yellow panel.  I thought it went well with the flowers in the June Birthday Design and it made the yellow panel look better than leaving it plain. Finished card size is 5.5" x 4.25."

"Purr"fect Birthday!

Looking for the "purr''fect birthday card?  Here's a fun one I created with stamps from DRS Designs.   

It's pretty simple overall and "purr"fect for any cat lover!  The "Purr"fectly Wonderful Birthday sentiment (726G) is the highlight on this card.  I created my own background design with the Cat Paw Background (698H) and sponged it with Vintage Photo Distressing ink.  I made a tag with the Happy Cat Walking (099D) and colored it with Copic Markers.  I added a dark brown panel punched with a heart border punch and tied it with pink plaid ribbon to spice up this card a bit.  I love the pink and brown together and I hope you do too!

Teacher Thanks

Woo Hoo! Schools out for Summer!

Did you thank your teachers?

The card I'm sharing with you today is a teacher's thank you card I made for a friend of mine.

Both the Teacher's Tools image (792G) and the Teacher Touches a Heart Sentiment (475G) are by DRS Designs. I colored the image with Copic Markers and paper pieced the hearts in the sentiment. I applied Diamond Glaze to the apple, and the hearts to enhance the card front.

Do you have big plans for the Summer? We're still waiting on the birth of our first baby and then I'm looking forward to getting to know my baby and enjoying the entire Summer off of work!

I used this sketch to create a graduation card using one of the new graduation sentiments from DRS Designs. 

The Bright Graduation Greeting (780F) and the Brush Mortarboard (287G) were perfect for this sketch.  I paper pieced the graduation cap and added a petite black brad where the tassel attaches to the top of the cap.  I think everything on this card is pretty easy to duplicate and I'm sure I'll be making more of this card for all the grad parties I'll be going to this summer.

Transition #2: Ready and Waiting!

Remember my Transition #1 post where I talked about changing over my Scrapbooking/stamping room into the Nursery for our new baby who's soon to arrive? 

Well, it's now complete and ready to go.  We are anxiously awaiting baby's arrival.

It won't be too much longer now.  Doctor says I definitely won't make my 4th of July due date and that she anticipates baby's arrival within the next week!

Can't wait to introduce you to our new son or daughter very soon!

"Boxers or Briefs?"

I created this card specifically to show off Rascally Russell (777M) from DRS Designs.  I think he is one of my favorite images from their recent release.  It was really fun to make!

 First, I colored him with Copic Markers and then I stamped him again on smooth light green cardstock.  I stamped the Lines O'Plenty (366H) Background stamp over his shirt with dark green ink, and then cut it out.  I then paper pieced it in place on the original stamped image.  Next, I assembled the card front as shown and stamped the question portion of the Boxers or Briefs Birthday Greeting (1100H) below the stamped image on the card front. 

Here's how I decorated the inside of the card to show off the "punch line" to the sentiment I used on the front of the card.  Know any guys who would really get a kick out of receiving a birthday card like this?  This would be great for Father's Day too! Don't forget, that's this Sunday, June 19th!

For You Dad!

Father's Day is right around the corner...are you ready?  Here's the card I made for my Dad. 

This Stampabilities Beacon of Light stamp is one of my favorites for creating a masculine card.  I colored it with Copic Markers and inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distressing ink.   The sentiment tag I created was made using a stamp from The Angel Company.  I sponged it with distressing ink while it was still in a Nestie die to give it the white frame look.  I thought the twine and eyelets embellishments gave it a very nautical feel.  Would you agree?

Still A Hot Babe!

Isn't this image great!?!?! I am pleased to introduce you to Frisky Florence (771K).  She is one of the new releases from DRS Designs.  She goes so well with the Hot Babe Greeting (1115F) that this could be used as a Birthday or a Happy Retirement card.

 

I colored Florence with Copic Markers and then sponged yellow ink around her while it was still in a Nestie die. 

I split up the Hot Babe greeting to accommodate my layout and colored in the ballooned words with a red Copic Marker.  To spice up this card a bit, just like Florence, I added clear rhinestones around the image that I also colored to match my color scheme.

Diggity Dog!

Hi Everyone! 

 I have a fun birthday card to share with you today, especially for any dog lover! I've paired up the recently released Hot Diggity Dog Birthday Greeting (732E) with the Doggie Dilemma Stamp (254H) for this card.

I colored the Doggie Dilemma and the cardstock that I stamped the sentiment on with Copic Markers.  This was simple embellished with a decorative border punch, petite copper brads, and brown ribbon tied in a knot. 

I went over his eyes and nose with a Glaze pen to make them look shiny and wet.  Looks realistic doesn't it?

The Tassel Is Worth The Hassle

It's that time of year again when high school and college Seniors celebrate their graduation. DRS Designs has several great images and sentiments to help you make just the right graduation cards for all of your graduates.

Here's one I made for my cousin who graduated this year from Michigan State University. Her school colors were green and white, so I made this card with the appropriate colors.

I paper pieced the Graduation Cap from the "Congrats on your Graduation" (274K) stamp rather than coloring it green.  I added a brad to the spot where the tassel attached to the top of the cap.  Then, I paired it with the Graduation Background (984H) to create my own pattern paper.   Best part about a card like this is that you could make it in any colors you wish and it would be appropriate for every graduating Senior you know!

"Paws"itively!

Hi Friends! Hope you're having a great day!

Here's the perfect birthday card for any cat lover! I loved making this card--not sure if it is the colors, or this great "Purr"fectly Comfortable Kitty image (815L) but I really like how all the elements came together.  I've used several stamps from DRS Designs to create it...

...I stamped the Cat Paw Background (698H) with brown ink all over the light purple cardstock base.  The "Purr"fectly Comfortable Kitty image was colored with Copic Markers to match and in the empty space above the image, I stamped the "Paws"itively Birthday Greeting (727F) from DRS Designs newest release.  After inking the edges with light purple ink, I then matted the image with dark purple cardstock.  I folded down the upper left corner and added 4 dark purple brads as shown.

I created my own tag embellishment by stamping the Small Cat Print (A1006)  and matting it with light and dark purple cardstock.  I adhered it to the bottom of the focal image with foam for some added dimension.

Education!

Can you believe that it's June already!?!? With that in mind, I know plenty of kids who can relate to DRS Designs Nothing and Everything sentiment (683G) as the school year comes to an end.  Do you?  I've used it here to create this card along with the new Teacher Tools image (792G) from their recent release.

I colored the image with Copic Markers and then stamped the sentiment directly below it on the same piece of white cardstock.  I cut it out with a fancy die and adhered it to a yellow card front that was punched with a corner rounder on all 4 corners.   

I kept this card simple by only using a few brads, red ribbon and a touch of red Stickles on the apple for embellishments.  Don't forget your Teacher Thank you cards this year...this Teacher Tools image would be perfect for them!

Birthday Balloon!

Hi Friends!


Hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Weekend! I had to work a couple shifts at the hospital this weekend, but I was able to enjoy being off yesterday and today. I spent part of yesterday stamping and preparing for DRS Designs next promotion.

I am also still playing with stamps from DRS Designs latest release and created this birthday card yesterday too. I've used the Giant Open Balloon (712P), the Brush Birthday Greeting (761H), and the Birthday Sheet Music (763P).

Overall, this card was really easy to make. I paper pieced the balloon and then stamped it with the Birthday Sheet Music. I tied a piece of twine to the balloon opening and allowed it to hang free. The background took me the longest, but once I got started it was fairly easy to complete. All I did was create a cloud stencil from a piece of scrap cardstock and then sponged around it with blue ink to create a cloud-filled sky. I stamped the Brush Happy Birthday in the lower left corner and then placed the balloon as shown above it. After punching the corners with a decorative corner punch, I matted the card front to black cardstock and then adhered it to a blue cardstock base. Finished card size is A2-4.25" x 5.5."

I'd like to start with a simple "Thank You" to all of our veterans and current soldiers.  I think we realize more and more everyday that Freedom truly isn't free, and for all of the sacrifice given by past and present soldiers we can't Thank you enough!

For the hop today, I created this Missing you card using images from DRS Designs.  I've combined this with this week's sketch challenge from the Card Patterns blog.  DRS Designs is the sponsor of this challenge and is giving away a $20 store voucher!

In honor of the Memorial holiday I thought it would be appropriate to create this card with a red, white and blue theme.  I thought stars worked well too!  The sentiment I used as the focal point is DRS Designs Hello, How Are you Greeting (849G).  I created the star panel in the background using their Interlocking star background (819H) that I stamped in red, and the Starry Background (124H) in blue.

Fishing Funny

DRS Designs has recently come out with some great new stamps, have you seen THEM?

The card I have to show you today was made using the new Proud Catch Fisherman (765K) stamp. This image was a lot of fun to color with Copic Markers. Then, by using the masking technique I was able to sponge ink around him to create a scene. It's amazing how much a little color will make an image like this come alive! Next, I created the card front and used a decorative border punch at the top and bottom of the beige cardstock. I added the funny Jerk Fishing Greeting (276G) which really gave this card some character!
