CAS Dog Sympathy

Here's another pet sympathy card I recently made with DRS Designs newest stamps.

I colored the Dog Angel (G331) with Copic Markers, masked it and sponged blue ink around it while it was in a Nestie die.  The sentiment is the One Line Heartfelt Condolences (D321).

I'm usually not one for clean and simple cards, but this one totally is! I embellished it with a simple 2 layered Prima flower and added a paw button to the center of the flower.  I love that part of this card!  I also used Yellow Stickles on the halo, and Crystal Stickles on his wings.  Can't forget to add fluffiness to the cloud--I created this with white Fun Flock!

Well, that's about it for now.  Sorry for such a short post today.  This week has been hectic and I'm so behind, so I have to limit my computer time to make the most of my days.  Stay tuned for more coming soon!

Thanks for stopping by today and have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Mail Day!

It's always nice to receive something other than bills and junk mail in my mailbox.  A few days ago I received this great package from Faith, the owner of Mark's Finest Papers.  I was selected as one of the winners for the Color Throwdown Challenge Blog #100.

I received a set of 24 Watercolor Pencils, a package of Colored Pencil Paper, the Ladybugs and Carnation Stamp set, the Speedy Cat's Friends stamp set and a blending stump.  I'm so excited, as I've never won on a huge give Away like this before.  I hope to have time this weekend to play with my new goodies--that Carnation stamp is screaming to me and the wheels are spinning in my head!

Big thanks to the CTD Blog and to Faith for selecting me to win this great prize package!

Christmas In July With Tuesday Morning Sketches!

Tuesday Morning Sketches has been celebrating their 1 year birthday throughout the month of July, and DRS Designs is proud to announce that they are part of that celebration!  The challenge this month is to page thru the Past Sketches on the TMS blog, pick your favorite sketch to use, and then create a Christmas card using that sketch to be entered to win a $10 voucher to DRS Designs! Easy enough?

I used sketch #45 for my challenge card.
The focal image I used on my challenge card is DRS Designs "Letters To Santa" stamp from the Cutie Pie Kids Collection.  I colored this adorable elf with Copic Markers and used the Out-of-the-box technique to cut the image out with my Nestabillities.

Sorry for the quality of this picture.  I used Bazzill Bling in the background, and it was hard to photograph.  I scored the yellow background using my Score-Pal like in the sketch and then stamped the small snowflake from the 4 in 1 Snowflake stamp (D096) using SU! Real Red.  The sentiment tag was created using the Tiny Merry Christmas Greeting (A121).

Make sure to link your card on this TMS post to be entered to win.  I look forward to seeing your Christmas in July cards!

Good Luck!

Boo Boo Bear

Hi Everyone and Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend!

Today I have a cute Get Well card to show you.  This card uses DRS Designs Boo Boo Bear (G431) and the Tiny Get Well Soon Sentiment (A256).   This adorable Teddy is a new to me stamp that I've had for a while and just recently was able to get it all inked up.  I know he will get lots of use with the flu season just around the corner and for a few people I know are having surgery soon.  Now is the time to stock up on my Get Well and Speedy Recovery cards!

I colored the Boo Boo Bear with Copic Markers.  I masked him and sponged pink ink around him while he was still in the oval Nestie die.  I did the same thing to the Get Well tag to add a bit of color to it.  I added some texture using the (very elegant!) Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and some fun ribbon added a cheery element to this card.
Here are a few smaller pics of the focal parts of this card.  Click on them to see a close up view.

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your visit and your comments!
Have a great day!

Howdy!

Hi Ya'll!
I'm back again today to share with you another card I made for DRS Designs sketch challenge that is currently underway.

All stamps on this card are by DRS Designs. I used the Cowboy Garb (K1121), the In the Accessories sentiment (D155), and Vicki's Versatile background (H369).  I colored the image with Copic Markers and used Post-It Notes to mask the image and the edges.  I then sponged red ink around the image and the masking created the white frame around it.  The panel that contains the sentiment was embossed with the Cuttlebug Paisley Embossing Folder and Vicki's Versatile background was stamped using Vintage Photo Distressing Ink.

Please see the sketch, prize details and photos, and the Inlinkz feature on THIS POST to enter your sketch challenge card for a chance to win some great prizes.  HURRY! Deadline for this challenge is 11:59pm this Tuesday, July 26th.

Thanks for visiting today!

Over The Hill and Bringing Bran!

Ever in need of Funny Over the Hill card?  Well, look no further!  I literally laughed out loud when I read this Bringing Bran Birthday Greeting (K1086) from DRS Designs.

I cut out the Bringing Bran Birthday Greeting using a Nestability die.  I sponged silver ink over the wording while it was still in the die. DRS Designs also has a background stamp perfect for all the Over The Hill cards you'll ever need to make. The Old Age Background (H312) was stamped in black ink and I distressed the edges with the silver ink as well.  This card was embellished using black and white plaid ribbon from The Paper Studio, petite brads by Recollections, and I also used an EK Success paper punch to decorate the upper and lower borders of my card front.

Due to the occassion, I thought it would be best to create this card in black and gray, as most Over The Hill Party themes are.  With phrases in the background like "Gummer," "Ancient," "Senior Citizen," and "Older than Dirt," this card is sure to make people laugh!

Doggie Dilemma Sketch Challenge

Hi Everyone!

Today I'm showing off another challenge card for the DRS Sketch Challenge.  As you can see from the sketch, I changed it up a bit to accomodate my focal image by just switching the purple and gray panels on the sketch.

Isn't this Doggie Dilemma stamp (H254) adorable!?!?!?!  This poor little guy definitely needs some support to get through that fence! LOL!  That's why I thought the Thank You For Your Support Greeting (E335) went well with this stamp.  Both of these stamps are new releases.

I colored the image with Copic Markers and masked it so that I could sponge blue ink around the image.  Of course, the Thank You For Your Support greeting is all one stamp, but I chose to split it up in order to make it work for the layout on this card.

We'd love for you to play along as we look forward to seeing your version of the sketch.  Here's a reminder of the 2 prize packages that DRS Designs is giving away to 2 lucky participants! The 2 winners who are randomly chosen will get their choice of either package! Each package contains 6 stamps that you could get for FREE!

Beach Package

-OR-

Golf Package

Hurry as time is quickly running out!  Make sure to link up your challenge card on this post using the Inlinkz feature to be considered for one of these great prizes by 11:59pm on July 26th!  (Hurry, that is only 4 days away!)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Lilly Sympathy Cross

Here's another set of DRS Designs newest stamps!  This Lily Sympathy Cross (L314) and the One Line Sorry For Your Loss Sentiment (D317) are brand new!
I love this cross image..it's simply beautiful.  Yes, it's titled for sympathy, but I'm anxious to use it for a different type of card.  Wouldn't it make a beautiful Easter card as well??  I'll be keeping that thought in my back pocket for future use.

I kept this card fairly simple, as I think most sympathy cards should be on the simpler side and I didn't want to take away from the image itself.
I used my Copic Markers to color in the cross and then I lightly painted the lillies with Opal Shimmerz to give them a subtle sheen look.  I masked the cross and the edges around the image so that I could sponge blue ink for the background.  My Heart EK Success border punch and some sheer blue ribbon finished this card off nicely.

Just a reminder...don't forget about DRS Designs Sketch Challenge currently underway.  You could win 6 FREE stamps just for playing along! See all the details and link your card up HERE.

Just Because...

I'm happy to report that I've completed another Splitcoast Sketch Challenge, and before the next one came out too! LOL!

Here's my take on SC289.

Both the sentiment and the image are by DRS Designs.  I colored the Ladybug with Flower image (G953) with Copic Markers.  The edges of the image were inked blue, and I added Yellow Stickles to the flower center.  The "Just Because..." sentiment (B203) is all one stamp, but I split it up for this card.  If you're a regular follower of my blog, then you know I do this often--I love using unmounted stamps and my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig is a blessing!

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you enjoyed your visit!

Card Tag Is Complete!

Oh my what fun! The 4th round of Alicia's Card Tag is now complete!  It's a lot like the kids "Tag" game, but we use hand crafted/stamped cards. When you are "tagged it," you use the card of the person in line before you as inspiration to create your own card.  Here's my finished card.  I was inspired by Barbara's cupcake birthday theme and how she used buttons and border punches to embellish her card.

All of the stamps I used on this card are by DRS Designs.  First, I colored the Cherry Top Cupcake (E463) with Copic Markers.  Then I cut it out and layered it on a white cardstock circle embossed with the Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. I matted it again with a red cardstock circle.  I stamped the Happy Birthday 3" Giga Cicle (L488) with SU! Real Red ink on white cardstock and used my Marvy Uchida Giga Circle punch to punch it out perfectly.  I colored in the dots with a red Copic Marker.  I stamped the Happy Moments, Happy Days sentiment (G490) on pink cardstock and used an EK Success border punch for the edges.  I added this piece to a red cardstock front and added ribbon to cover the area where the pink cardstock stopped.  I added the matted Giga circle to the center above the sentiment and embellished the front with small red buttons.  To add a bit of dimension, I stamped the cherry a second time, colored it with Copics, cut it out and adhered it in place with foam tape.  Then I added Diamond Glaze to it to give it a bit of shine.

You can see all 10 cards from the Card Tag game HERE on Alicia's Blog and see the transition from the first card to the very last card.

Thanks Alicia for hosting this card game.  I enjoyed it and hope to play again soon!

Card Tag...I'm It!

So, time has slipped away from me over the last few days, so I still haven't completed this weeks Splitcoast card sketch.  I'm hoping to get it done sometime this weekend.  So, in the meantime, I'll share with you what I have been working on...

Last week I noticed on Alicia's blog that she was holding another Card Tag game.  After reading the instructions, I emailed her immediately so that I could play!  This is the first time I have ever heard of anything like this, and it was so much fun!  It's a lot like the kids "Tag" game, but we use hand crafted/stamped cards.  When you are "tagged it," you use the card of the person in line before you as inspiration to create your own card. I guess it would be a lot like the kids "Telephone" game too!  It will be interesting to see how similar the last card is to the first card that started the game.

Here's a sneak peek of what I created since I was tagged "It!"

Stay tuned to see the entire card very soon.  I have to wait for Alicia to post all of the finished cards on her blog.  Hopefully I won't have to keep you waiting any longer than Monday.

Have a good weekend!

Jennifer

My Sister, My Friend

I'm trying to do the Splitcoast Card Sketch challenges more frequently.  It's amazing how quickly a week flies by and before I know it, there's a new challenge posted!  So, here's my challenge card using last weeks sketch, SC288.

The Treasured Sister Greeting (F1142) and the Hearts Background (H808) are by DRS Designs.  After stamping the sentiment, I inked light purple ink around it while it was still in the Nestie die to create the white frame around it.  Each element of this sketch seemed to fall easily into place.

Ok, now I'm off to do this weeks Splitcoast sketch challenge.  Stay tuned to see it tomorrow!

Thanks for stopping by!

DRS Sketch Challenge!

For the next 2 weeks DRS Designs is holding a sketch challenge.  Here's the sketch to follow:
For your participation you could win either a beach prize package or a golf prize package from DRS Designs.  You can see picture of the prize packages HERE.

Here's my take on the sketch:

I used 2 of DRS Designs new releases on this card.  The Pet Angel Group (K330) and the One Line Sorry For Loss Greeting (D317).  (You can see the rest of their new releases HERE.)  The image was colored with Copic Markers and I used the masking technique while sponging blue ink around it.  I also stamped the Small Cat Print (A1006) and the Small Dog Print (A1003) in the background with Versamark ink.

I added white Fun Flock to the cloud to make it fluffy and I used Yellow Stickles on the halos to make them glisten.

Please see THIS POST on the DRS Site to see all of the Sketch challenge details and enter your card today!

Happy Healing!

Today's the BIG day...It's Release Day over at DRS Designs!  You can see all of their new releases HERE.

The Happy Healing sentiment I used on today's card is part of this release.  So many people I know are getting their joints replaced nowadays, that this sentiment will get a lot of use on my end! I bet you could use it too!

I decided to create this card with green monochromatic colors since I have a ton of this cream cardstock that I wanted to use up.  Both the Happy Healing sentiment and the silhouette wheelchair image (G745) were stamped with SU! Certainly Celery. I kept my embellishemnts simple on this card and only used thick olive green grograin ribbon and some rhinestones that I colored with my YG67 Copic Marker to match my project.
Here's a close up of the Happy Healing sentiment so you can see it more clearly.

Hope you enjoy all the new releases!

Have a great weekend!

For The Loss of Your Pet

Tomorrow is the big Release Day over at DRS Designs, and today I'm showing off some more sneak peeks! This release is a bit bitter sweeet for me as there are many sympathy related stamps.  For example, the Cat Angel and the sentiment you see on this card are part of tomorrow's release.  Of course no one want to have to make a sympathy card of any kind, but when you need one it's so nice when you have one already made and ready when you need it. I'm usually not one for Clean And Simple, but sometimes I think sympathy cards are better off in the CAS category.

I colored this Cat Angel with Copic Markers.  I cut it out using a Nestability die, covered it with a mask and then sponged blue ink around it for the sky.
I dressed this card up just a bit by adding some brown felt ribbon, and then I used Stickles on the angel wings, and Fun Flock on the cloud for a relaistic effect.
Make sure to check out all of DRS Designs new Releases tomorrow.  As soon as they become available, you can see them all HERE.

It's Otterly Hot!

The title of my post today should let you know exactly how the temps have been in my area--over 90* everyday since Friday! Coincidently, as a sneak peek,  I have a card with Otters on it to show you for today! :-)

These adorable little otters are part of DRS Designs new release that will be available for purchase this Saturday, July 10th.  (As soon as the new releases become available, you can see them all HERE.) I colored this image with Copic Markers and then masked it so that I could sponge blue ink around the otters for the sky.  There's something about water cards that make me always want to use twine rope as an embellishment and the Cuttlebug Divine Swirls Embossing folder to add dimension.  Perhaps it's from my younger days when I'd often go boating with Grandpa in the Summer. Water, Twine rope, and waves all go hand-in-hand!

And of course when there's water on an image I always reach for the Diamond Glaze--there's nothing like that realistic effect! The Fun In The Sun sentiment (D1072) is also by DRS Designs.

Stay tuned for tomorrow, as I'll have another sneak peek from DRS Designs next release.

Thanks for stopping by!

Color Throwdown #100

DRS Designs is one of the great sponsors sponsoring the Color Throwdown #100 Challenge.
I created this birthday card for the challenge.

I used DRS Designs Birthday Candle Burst (L451) and the Tiny Happy Birthday (A1081) stamp.  The candles were colored with Copic Markers and I layered cardstock puched with my Martha Stewart Zig Zag punch.  The tiny Happy Birthday was cut out with my Nesties dies and I sponged light pink ink over top of it while it was still in the Nestie die.  Of course I added my favorite Yellow Stickles to the candle flames for a bit of bling! :-)

Want to win this prize package?

Make sure to head over to Kisa's Blog from the Color Throwdown DT.  She's the one giving away this golf prize package from DRS Designs.  All you have to do to win is create a paper crafted project using the challenge colors above and then leave a comment on her blog.
Good Luck!

Birthday Boy!

Happy Tuesday to you all! I hope all of my American followers are well rested after the long holiday weekend.  This weekend turned out to be one of the hottest weekends we've had all year, and although temps were above 90* it was perfect for all of our family BBQ's and pool parties that we attended!  I admit though, I can take the heat and prefer it over the cold!

Today I'm showing off the Best Present Ever Cutie Pie Kid stamp (K650) from DRS Designs.

This Cutie Pie Kid was colored with Copic Markers.  As you can see, I also used 2 other sentiments by DRS Designs--the Birthday Boy Greeting (E590) and a tag was created using the A Gift For You Greeting (B514).  I embossed the background panel with the Spots and Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder.  Some yellow brads, and hand drawn red dots on the corners of the image made this card complete!

Isn't he adorable!?!?!?

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!!

Happy 4th of July!

To all of my American followers, I'd like to wish you all a very Happy and Safe 4th of July!  In honor of the American Independence Day, I've created this 4th of July card to celebrate!

I used DRS Designs USA Thanks To Our Brave Stamp (G766) as the focal point and as a background stamp on this card. Because I have this stamp unmounted, only on EZ mount Cling Foam, I was able to easily cut and separate this stamp into 2 parts.  As you can see, I used the USA part of this stamp to create the background design.  I colored USA with Copic Markers.

And because everything related to 4th of July needs a bit of sparkle, I added Stickles to all of the little stars!

Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate your visit!
Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend!

Jennifer

You're Invited!

How about this for your Summer BBQ invites?
I created this card a while ago for a magazine submission call but it wasn't selected for publication :-( .  The BBQ image, the Grass Blades, and the "You're Invited" sentiment (D087) are by DRS Designs.

This invitation was pretty simple to make.  I stamped the Brush BBQ Grill (H021) on white cardstock so that it was off-centered.  I used the masking technique to create the horizon, sponging the sky blue, and ground with olive green ink.  Then I used the Easy Grass Background (E059) to add in the grass blades.  I used pencil to draw in the steam coming from the grill, and embellished the upper portion of the image with red and white plaid ribbon with a single staple.

For some added dimension, I adhered the grill with foam tape.

Hope you all enjoy your BBQ's this holiday weekend.

Happy 4th of July to all my American Followers!

Smiles,
Jennifer
