Hug A Nurse

I have the utmost respect for Nurses. I work in the medical field and although I'm not one of them, I see how hard they work day in and day out.  I know it's a job I could never do and it takes a special person to be one.

DRS Designs just came out with this Hug A Nurse (1072E) sentiment and I'm excited to show it off for their Under The Weather Challenge this week.  For Nurses week every year in May I make a special card for my Aunt, and I know she would appreciate a sentiment like this.

I've paired this sentiment with the Boo Boo Bear (431G) that I colored with Copic Markers. I adhered him with foam tape for some dimention to a white die cut oval before adhering it to the card front. A bit of ribbon stapled to the upper right corner embellished it nicely.

So, this my entry for the Under The Weather challenge. Won't you show us yours? Link it up HERE for a chance to win a great prize from DRS Designs.  Good Luck!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you'll be back soon!

Remember The Joy

Sympathy cards are definitely my least favorite cards to make, but today I'm taking advantage of the So Sorry Challenge on the DRS Designs Blog to make a few up a head of time.  It makes it so much easier when I have a card already made and ready to go when the unfortunate time arises.

For this card I used the Sketch challenge SC367 for the layout.  I used the Sadness You're Feeling Sympathy Greeting (029H) as the focal point of my card front.  Leaving off the bottom line, "In Deepest Sympathy," I stamped the greeting with brown ink, sponged blue ink around it while it was still inside a Nestability die and then adhered it using foam tape for dimension.

To complete this card, I stamped the final line of the greeting in the lower right corner directly on the card front.  Here's a close up of the greeting so you can comfortably read it.  Aren't these wonderful comforting words?

I hope you'll join me and the rest of the DRS DT in making some sympathy cards for this challenge. Enter your cards HERE for a chance to win some free stamps from DRS Designs.

Get Well Soon Boo Boo Bear

Hi Everyone!
Today I'm showing off a cute and simple Get Well card I made recently. Hopefully you won't need a card like this, but we all know how fast those flu bugs travel, especially in the dead of Winter!

Staying with the clean and simple aspect for this card,
I only used 2 stamps on it and kept my backgrounds very plain.  The stamps I used are the
Boo Boo Bear (431G) and just the "Get Well" portion of the Blooming With Good Health Greeting (055G).

I started by coloring the image with Copic Markers. Then I used a Nestie die to cut it out. I masked it and sponged it with peach ink to match my color scheme.  The sentiment was then stamped just below the image.  I used kraft cardstock for my card front and used a decorative corner punch on each corner. I embossed the peach panel, adhered it in place and tied a thin brown, satin bow at the top. I used foam tape to adhere the image to the center of the card front so that it was popped up and then adhered the card front to a dark brown A2 cardstock base.

Here's to hoping we all stay well this Winter. Remember to wash your hands often!
Until next time,

Smiles,
Jennifer

Two Loving Hearts

You know the song, "First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage!" Well, that last event is exactly why I haven't posted since January 1st.

Alexander John, our second son, was born on January 3rd, weighing 6 pounds 13 ounces and 20 inches long. Big brother Anthony is proud yet very curious and is adjusting fairly well.  Despite this latest change in our home, I'm eager to get back into a routine and get back to some me time. Luckily, I was able to get some alone time earlier this week and create a wedding card for the Love and Marriage challenge over at DRS Designs.

I used the Silhouette Love Heart (213D) for my focal image, stamping it twice so that the images overlap and I carefully cut them out.  I did this for the symbolism that two become one in marriage.  I adhered them with foam tape for some dimension on red carstock that was die cut with a Nestability Label die.  I created a horizontal panel to show off the sentiment using "Congratulations" from the Ribbon and Curls New Baby Greeting (111G).  Three small, white pearls and some twine tied in a bow embellished this panel nicely.  The card front was made with plain white cardstock that I decorated up a bit with a border punch and I added a pink layer that was embossed with a hearts embossing folder.  Finished cart size is 5.5" x 4.25."

Well, that's about it for me today. Stay warm my friends!

Winter Cheer

Hi Everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas holiday! Did you receive any stamping goodies? I'm just relieved that the hustle and bustle is over with. Now it's time to ring in the New Year and have fun with all that Winter brings...Snow!

This was the first time I tried embossing with a Nestability die instead of actually cutting paper with it.  It was a bit tricky at first to get the right thickness to just emboss the die shape, but I think the time it took me to get it right was worth it.  I really like how this turned out.  After shading the embossed area with blue ink, I used a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp the Snowflake and Winter Cheer Greeting (135G) inside of it.  I did a little masking and stamped snowflakes around it using the Interlocking Snow Background (015H).  Below the greeting I added an embossed panel that I decorated with the Snowman In A Box (581C) and some snowflake embellishments.  A cute little blue bow finished it off.

This card also fits this weeks DRS Designs "Frosted Flakes" challenge that ends at 6pm ET today. Won't you play along? Check out all the details and link your card HERE for a chance to win your choice of 2 stamps from the online catalog at www.drsdesigns.com!

Thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year!

Smiles,
Jennifer
