Wild Side Birthday!

There's no birthday like a monkey birthday! LOL!
How about this for a cute and fun birthday card?

I created this using stamps from DRS Designs.  Michelle Monkey (871E) was colored with Copic Markers, and after matting it with dark brown cardstock I adhered it to the scalloped square using foam tape for added dimension.  The dots on it were hand doodled. 

The background was stamped with the Lines O'Plenty (366H) Background stamp.  The sentiment I used is the Walk on the Wild Side Birthday Greeting (935F).

Hogwash!

Happy Monday Friends!

Today I'm sharing with you a comical Birthday card.  The Hogwash stamps I used on this card are some of my favorites by DRS Designs. 

I stamped the Leonard Pig's Bathtime Buddies (719K) in Rich Cocoa Momento ink and colored them with Copic Markers.  The Hogwash Sentiment (722E) is actually all one stamp.  It has 3 lines that I've split up to fit my layout.  This technique is one I do all the time and love it! That's the beauty of using unmounted rubber stamps! I feel this makes them more versatile and I get more use out of them.  As you can see I've also used "Hogwash" to create my own background paper.  Hope you like the way this card turned out, I sure do!

Butterfly Happiness!

Back in June when I created this Butterfly Birthday card for DRS Designs Give Away, I went on a butterfly frenzy and colored up a whole bunch of Butterfly Ribbon Slides (681D).  In the midst of transforming my stamping room to the baby's nursery, I misplaced the envelope with all the butterflies in it and guess what I found just the other day?!?!?  So, needless to say, I've drawn up a bunch of card sketches so that I can use them up.  I hope you like these butterflies as much as I do, cause I'm going to be showing them off a lot in the next few weeks!  I wouldn't want you to get bored seeing them though, so don't worry, they are all different colors! ;-)

I put the yellow one to use using this weeks Splitcoast Sketch challenge #346. 

I used the Happiness Butterfly Greeting (222G) as my focal point.  I cut it out using a Nestability die and inked the edges yellow before taking it out of the die.  The white panel I used in the background for the card front was stamped using the Silhouette Butterfly Background (536H). I heat embossed it using Diamonds and Pearls Embossing powder.  The Polka Dot panel was also stamped using DRS Designs Polka Dot Background stamp (688P).  Some black grosgrain ribbon added a nice touch to this panel. 

As the final step I cut out 2 of the yellow Butterfly Ribbon Slides and attached them with 3 black brads and then adhered it to the card front as shown.  I love the 3D effect that makes the butterfly look as if it's flying!

Birthday Bugs!

Hi Everyone!

I'm changing things up a bit! I'm sticking with the Summer theme that you've seen here a lot lately, but I have a birthday card to share with you today.

I have used DRS Designs famous Ladybug Stackup (695G) as the focal point on my card front.  I colored it with Copic Markers and after shading the bottom with a green marker, I stamped the Easy Grass Background (059E) to create the grass blades in the scene.  I paired the ladybug image with the Ladybug Birthday Greeting (576G), but I split it up--I stamped majority of it in red right next to the stamped image and stamped the bottom separately in black in the lower right corner of the card front as seen. A small black rhinestone on either side of "Happy Birthday" accented it nicely!

Just look at those cute little bugs...aren't they adorable?

Grill Master's Birthday!

If your Summer's are like ours then your grill is out all the time and we grill it up daily it seems!  How about making a Birthday card for your Grill Master?  I created this one with stamps from DRS Designs.  

I colored Grilling Guy (820K) with Copic Markers.  I masked him and then stamped the Easy Grass Background (059E) to the area around his feet.  I split up the Grill Master Birthday Greeting (145G) so that it fit above and below the decorative panel.

  Although it's hard to see, I also used a Glaze pen on his eyes to give them a realistic look.  Ribbon and brads finished off this 4.25" x 6" card--had to make it a bit bigger than an A2 size to fit the width of the image and the sentiment together.

Retirement Wishes!

Hello fellow Stampers and card makers, happy Monday to you all!

I know when I retire I'd love to spend it on the beach, and I'm sure some of you would as well.  For this reason I picked the Brush Flamingo scene stamp (1054L) for the focal point on this card. It was colored with Copic Markers and I paired it with the Best Wishes Retirement Greeting (942D).  I didn't get too fancy with my embellishments on this card--need to keep things quick these days as my newborn baby is demanding a lot of attention! *wink* I used a decorative border punch, a ribbon scrap attached with a standard staple, and some clear rhinestones gems that I colored with my Copic Markers to match.  If this card has sparked your interest, (which I hope it has!) make sure to check out all of the other stamps in DRS  Designs Retirement Collection.

Sports Fun!

Woo hoo! I was able to play with another Splitcoast Sketch Challenge!  Here's my take on last week's SC343.

This could possibly be a birthday card for a boy by adding a happy birthday sentiment like the Birthday Boy Greeting (590E) on the inside.  I used the Four Corner Sports stamp (734G) from DRS Designs to create the background design.  I colored each of the sports icons with Copic Markers and cut them up into strips to fit the sketch.  The sentiment, also from DRS Designs is the All About Fun Greeting (1042E).  I cut it out with a scalloped circle Nestability die and sponged it with orange ink before I took it out of the die.  The finished card size is 4.25" x 5.5" and I finished it off with some chocolate brown ribbon and brown brads.

The polka dot panel was also stamped using the Polka Dot Background stamp (688P).  I don't doodle on my cards very often, but I thought this card called for it.  I used a Gelly Roll pen to draw white dots in the scalloped portion of the scalloped oval and then I drew lines and dots around the outer edge of the green panel.

Flip Flop Summer!

Nothing says Summer like a fun pair of flip flops! Wouldn't you agree?

 Here's a pair from DRS Designs that I've combined with the Cool Summertime Greeting (824H).  I thought a close up of this fun saying was a good idea so you could read it.

The Flip Flops (011K) colored with Copic Markers.  Finished card size is A2-5.5" x 4.25". A few orange brads and fun yellow ribbon made this card complete.

It Takes A Lot Of Balls

Are you enjoying the new Patriotic and Summer releases from DRS Designs?  Today I'm showing off another one.  On this Golfer's Birthday card I've used Golfer Duff (457L) and paired it 2 sentiments from the current DRS catalog, the Balls to Golf Greeting (003F) and the Small One Line Happy Birthday (250B). 

I colored Golfer Duff with Copic Markers and outlined the Balls to Golf sentiment with a blue Copic Marker as well to match.  I matted both with dark brown cardstock.  I stamped the small one line happy Birthday sentiment just below the golfer image and added 3 dark brown brads on the right hand side to fill in the empty space.  I adhered the matted Balls to Golf sentiment to the left of the image to fill in the empty space above his golf club.  For the background I simply dry embossed a piece of green cardstock and added 4 petite light blue brads to the area under the sentiment. I used a light blue piece of cardstock for the card front and adhered it all to an A2 size dark brown cardstock base. 

Golfer Duff is such a fun image to color.  Have you seen his friend, the Golf Cart Girl (375K)?  She'd be the perfect image to turn this card in to a feminine birthday card for any female golfer you know!

You're Not Over The Hill

I've finally gotten a chance to take a break from Mommy madness this past weekend and do a little stamping! Yeah! It's been quite a while since I've participated in a Splitcoast sketch challenge. It was nice to have a little bit of time to myself and play!  Here's my take on SC342 from this past Wednesday.

I created a Golfer's birthday card using DRS Designs new Golf Cart Girl (375K) as my focal image along with the Back Nine Birthday Greeting (658F).  I colored this image with Copic Markers and stamped the Easy Grass Background (059E) at the bottom.  I created my own background paper by stamping the symbolic Golf (278B) stamp repeatedly with red ink.

 

For a fun effect, I used a glaze pen on the Golf Cart Girl's eyes and the headlights on her cart, however I apologize because it's hard to see in this photo.

As Another Year Flies By!

Did you know DRS Designs has stamps for your envelopes too? Check out the Envelope Art section of the catalog to see their address labels and postage frames.  Here's a birthday card I made using one of the postage frames. 

I've used the Butterfly Vine as the focal point on my card front and added the Butterfly Ribbon Slide (681D) to the postage/photo area.  Both were colored with Copic Markers.  I stamped, cut out, and colored 2 of the butterflies and overlapped them.  I added 3 brads to the butterfly bodies to hold them together and adhered them in place to give the illusion of a "flying" butterfly.

The card front was stamped with the "Another Year Flies By" Greeting (489F) that I split up to fit my layout.  An embossing folder, a decorative border punch and some rhinestones created a very elegant birthday card.  Wouldn't you agree?

Lazy Days of SUMMER!

How's your Summer been thus far?  Here in Michigan we are under a total heat wave! It's been approx 90* F for several days now and it probably won't cool off a bit until next week.  I admit however, I love it! This heat wave was the inspiration for my card today!

 I've used stamps from DRS Designs to create this Summer card.   The Summer Wording Square (826G) is my focal point, and the sun images I used on either side are part of the Four In One Beach Background (1099D). All of the images were colored with Copic Markers and I added yellow Stickles to each of the suns rays.  You know you can't have sun without a little shine!

Christmas In July!

This week DRS Designs and the Stamp Something Blog are celebrating Christmas in July!  One lucky winner will be selected to win a $15.00 Store voucher to DRS Designs just for playing along!

I used DRS Designs Nativity Noel (337L) for the center image and colored it with Copic Markers.  The center "O" was stamped and colored twice and then adhered on top of the first image with foam tape for added dimension.  I used the Silent Night Sheet Music (506P) for the background and colored in the holly and inked the edges for a distressed look.  Then to finish things off I added a simple sentiment, the One Line Silent Night, Holy Night (484D) at the bottom of the stamped image along with a red brad on either side of it.

Happy Healing!

A few weeks ago a good friend of mine had knee replacement surgery.  I know she was really nervous about it and since I've had some time off while waiting for baby the baby to arrive, I made her a card.  She's now resting at home, recovering from what became a more involved surgery than the Doctors originally thought.  Here's the card I created to wish her a speedy recovery.

Both of the stamps I used are from DRS Designs.  I used the Knee Replacement Get Well (346G) for the focal point.  I stamped it in Ballet Blue ink and sponged around it while it was still in a Nestie die.  Then I used a navy marker to draw in the line around the Nestie die to create the frame around it.  I love this look! I used the Lines O'Plenty Background (366H) to make the design in the background to match my color scheme by stamping it in Navy ink.  Some fun polka dot ribbon and white brads finished this card nicely.

Birthday Lottery Ticket

This kind of lottery ticket is probably not the kind you'd like to receive on your birthday with prizes like gray hair, memory loss, and wrinkles, but it makes for a very funny birthday card, don't you think?!?! 

 I colored this Instant Scratch-Off with Copic Markers and popped up the center with foam tape for added dimension.  I've also used DRS Designs Birthday Wishes Come True Greeting (508E) on this card. It seemed fitting because I'm sure many of us wish to win the lottery for our birthdays!  I know I do! Simply embellished with some (lucky!) embossed stars, sparkling black rhinestones and black ribbon, this card was complete!

Watermelon Friend!

Now that it's July, Summer is definitely here!  We've had some very hot days recently, and I admit, I love it!  How's your Summer going so far?  I hope it's been filled with lots of sunshine and with BBQ's and yummy watermelon too!  Hopefully however, your watermelon doesn't have ants like mine does today! LOL!

This card shows off one of the new Summer stamps just released from DRS Designs.  Isn't this Watermelon Friend (798H) adorable?  

I colored this image with Copic Markers and sponged the top area of it with blue ink while it was still in a Nestie die.  I used the 2 little ants from the Picnic Basket stamp (1104K) to create the ant border.  The swiss Dots Embossing folder, some ribbon and twine and a few red brads finished it nicely.  Finished sized is 5.5" x 4.25."  Hope you enjoyed it!

Stars and Stripes Forever!

Happy 4th of July!

Hope you're all out celebrating our Nation's Independence Day with family, friends, and all fun Summer things!

Today's card I'm sharing with you was made just for the Independence Day Holiday.  I've used 3 of DRS Designs new releases on it--the Tiny Patriot (801H), Stars Stripes Forever Sentiment (823F), and the Happy Independence Day sentiment (822D). 

Isn't that Tiny Patriot adorable!?!?!?  All coloring was done with Copic Markers.  I created my own pattern paper by stamping off the Interlocking Star background (819H) with blue ink so it was light enough that the Independence Day sentiment could be easily seen.  A simple satin red ribbon and bow separated the 2 background panels and then the card front was adhered to a red cardstock base. This finished card size measures A2-5.5" x 4.25".

Freedom!

Hope you're all having a wonderful holiday weekend and that the weather is cooperating with all of your Summer plans where you are!  Here in Michigan we're expecting a very sunny and hot 88*F.  Perfect for all of the pool parties and BBQ's, and better yet, no rain expected for the fireworks display at night!

So, after my previous post where my Husband thought my "Let Freedom Ring" Independence Day card should have been done in red, white, and blue, I decided to take his advice and use those colors for today's card.  All of the stamps I've used here are by DRS Designs.  I created the Polka Dot paper using the Polka Dot Background (688P) and then lightly inking the edges with blue ink.  I stamped the Independence Day Sentiment (822D) below a matching blue ribbon and added 3 red brads near the top to add a pop of color. 

The Freedom Cannon (814L) was colored with Copic Markers and I used Waterfall Stickles to add some sparkle to the fireworks.  Simple, yet festive wouldn't you say?
