Congratulations!

Thanks so much for all of your prayers and thoughtfulness as I dealt with the passing of my Grandfather this week.  Things have been quite stressful, and I'm glad to finally have some time to myself and just relax in my stamping room.


We just had new neighbors move in next door and I created this card a while ago to welcome them to the neighborhood. 

I thought this cute Shoe House (L1069) by DRS Designs was perfect! I colored it with Copic Markers and masked off the edges with some Post-It Notes. Then I sponged light blue ink around the image and peeled off the Post Its.  I love the white border created by the masking.

"Congratulations" was taken from DRS Designs Warm and Snug sentiment (H131).

Sad News

My Grandpa has been sick for quite some time, and his suffering has finally ended.  He passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon.  I will be spending a lot of time with my family this week, and won't have time to work in my scrap room or blog.  Please bear with me during this difficult time and please keep my family in your prayers.

SD37 Getting Sketchy!

The Sunflowers and Dragonflies team is playing with this sketch for our challenge this week.

I used Sunflowers and Dragonflies Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Cupcake image and sentiment from the Cupcake Set to create this "Chocolate is a girl's Best Friend" card.

I colored the cupcake image with Copic Markers.  The sentiment was stamped in black ink and I used an EK Success punch, a few brads, and some yummy ribbon to embellish it up a bit.

The Difference Between Cats and Dogs!

Hooray for Friday!  

I'm excited today becuase I'm enjoying a 3 day weekend!  These kinds of weekends don't come around for me very often working in a hospital so sometimes I just have to create my own long weekends, and that's exactly what I did!

As I mentioned earlier this week, I've seemed to have lost my crafting mojo a bit.  I think it's slowly on the mend, but it's definitely affected by the nicer weather we've had lately.  One of the projects I was able to complete this week is this card that tells about the difference between cats and dogs.

Birthday Test!

How would you like to poke a bit of fun on your family and friends for their birthday?  This Birthday Test image (L248) was just released by DRS Designs this past weekend.  I also used the new Circle Spiro Design (P158) stamp to decorate this card. I think this Birthday greeting is hilarious, and I can actually see the duck and the rabbit! Can you?

"Toad"ally Wonderful Day!

Happy Tuesday Friends!
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter and Spring Break.  After a few days off I'm finally trying to get back into the groove.  So far so good, but I've seemed to have lost my mojo.  Lucky for me, I still have a few cards to show you that I made for DRS Designs latest release.  I hope to have things back in full gear by the end of the week so that I have projects to post next week.  I guess we'll see (wink!)!

 

Today I'm showing off that cute little "Frog on A Log" (H252) again. The "Toad"ally Wonderful sentiment (E455) and the sea grass (L128) you see in the background are also by DRS Designs.

I colored the Frog on a Log with Copic Markers.  The sentiment was cut out using my Nesties, and I inked around the inside of it while it was still in my Nesties die.  The sea grass was stamped in Versamark just to give a bit of texture to the background.

Orange, Yellow Blue!

The Sunflowers and Dragonflies team is playing with the colors Orange, Yellow and Blue today!

Just in time for Easter, I created this card using the White Rabbit stamp from the Alice and Wonderland series.

Alice was colored with Copic Markers, and the background was sponged with blue and green ink for the sky and grassy areas.  The sentiment is by Great Impressions.

I know the situation doesn't come up very often, but after someone has surgery do you find yourself scrambling to create a card to wish them a speedy recovery?  Often, a typical Get Well card isn't appropriate becuase they're not sick.  DRS Designs just came out with some new stamps yesterday and I've used one of them to create a special type of "Speedy Recovery" after surgery card.

Un"FROG"ettable!

 Here are some more DRS Designs sneak peeks!  Release date is all set for this Thursday April 1st! 

  

The Un"frog"ettable sentiment and this cute little "frog on a log" are the new stamps on this card.  I also used Vicki's Versatile Background (H369) and brown ink to add some texture to the craft cardstock.   

 The sentiment was heat embossed with teal embossing powder and I colored the Frog image with Copic Markers.

It's Your Birthday...Have cake!

The DRS DT is gearing up for Release Day this Thursday, April 1st.  Are you ready for some new stamps!?!?!?  You can see sneek peeks on the DT blogs all week.

Here's my first one!

I've used 5 new DRS stamps to create this card: The Slice of Cake (F261), the Single Birthday Candle (B258), Happy Birthday Arc (E211), the Lots of Dots Giga Circle (L094) and the Oval Spiro Graph (L160).

I used the masking technique to add the candle image to the slice of cake. They were colored with Copic Markers. I sponged yellow ink around the candle flame to create a "glow" and used Yellow Stickles on the candle to give it that firey look.   
I love this cake image!  There are endless fun possibitites you can do with it, and you can be sure you'll see this image again very soon with some other great ideas!

S&D #35 It's Your Birthday!

I created this Birthday card for Sunflowers and Dragonflies "It's Your Birthday" Blog challenge, that begins today.   I used the Just Rite Birthday seal and colored it with Copic Markers.  The background was created by stamping "Celebrate" with Versamark repeatedly and then once again in the lower right corner using black ink.  (The "Celebrate" stamp is by Inkadinkado.)


Unfortunately, there won't be any prizes for those of you who wish to participate in the S&D Challenge this week.  Beth's Blog, the owner of S&D, is corrupt and won't accept comments etc.  She's working fast to correct the situation and we'll let you know when things are up and running!

Toasted Marshmallow

  Any of you ready for some camping this Summer? Camping and roasting marshmallows go hand in hand for our family, and it's one of my favorite parts about camping!  Ahh, I can smell the campfire already!

I created this card using the Toasting Marshmellow (L430) image and the Marshmallow (K421) saying by DRS Designs. I colored the image with Copic Markers and added Yellow Stickles to the flames.

So, what's your favorite part of camping?  I admit, I love just being out in the Summer heat too!

Latte Friends!

I've been busy preparing cards for DRS Designs next release which is coming up very soon.  Stay tuned...the DT will be showing off sneak peeks all next week!  In the mean time, I created this quick and easy card for one of my good friends.  We often have coffee together, so this is perfect for her!

Both the Brush coffee cup (F579) and the Espresso-ly Wonderful sentiment (F754) are by DRS Designs.  I colored the coffee cup with Copic markers and added Diamond Glaze to it for a realistic effect. The layout is pretty simple, I just added a bit of embossing with a Cuttlebug embossing folder along with some black ribbon and brads.

Lady Bug Birthday!

 I specifically remember posting that I was ladybugged out not too long ago, but I forgot all about this one! So, just one more ladybug card, ok? LOL!

Both the image and sentiment are by DRS Designs. This card is a lot like the Get Well and the other ladybug Birthday cards I made.  I really like masking this image and creating the sky and grassy areas around it.  I also used DRS Designs Easy Grass Background stamp to add the grass blades.

SD#34 Crazy for Color Challenge

The Sunflowers and Dragonflies Design Team is getting Crazy for Color this week! We want you to play with the colors Teal, Pomegranate, and Artichoke! 

I used these colors to create a background for the Sunflowers and Dragonflies Moose.

This entire scene was created by sponging all of the different ink colors.  I used the masking and reverse masking technique to cover up and shade all of the different areas.  The blades of grass were created by using DRS Designs Easy Grass background stamp (E059) and dark olive ink.

Bait or Wait?

Yep, bait!  LOL! But we all know it should be wait! 

This cute Can of Worms (G847) and this adorable Good Things...Who Bait (F840) sentiment are both by DRS Designs.  I created this card using the layout from this week's Splitcoast card sketch challenge SC272.  The image was colored with Copic markers.  I distressed the edges around the image and the edges of the sentiment panel with blue ink to give it a weathered look.  The layered vertical panel was embossed with the Divine Swirls Cuttlebug folder to add a bit of texture.

I had to post a very festive card on this very festive holiday!
The Hat full of Shamrocks image was colored with Copic markers and I distressed the edges with green ink.  I added some Yellow Stickles to the buckle on the hat for a bit of bling! The silhouette clovers were heat embossed with ivory embossing powder

Birthday Monkey!

Do you remember this Monkey Birthday Greeting (F594) from your childhood?  I know I often sang it to my sister on her birthday!

Of course with this greeting, this cute Michelle Monkey (E871) also from DRS Designs, is a perfect pair!  I decorated the grass at Michelle's feet with the Easy Grass Background stamp (E059) to create the grass blades.

I created the background by stamping DRS Designs' Lines O Plenty background stamp (H366) and distressing the edges with Vintage Photo ink.

This card was a lot of fun to make and I really like how it turned out.  It's cuteness should get me out of the dog house for telling the recipient that they smell like a monkey, don't you think? LOL!

Wrapped Warm and Snug!

There's definitely a stork in the area, cause I'll be needing quite a few new baby cards very soon.  I decided this weekend to make a few and here's the first one I made.

I created my own background paper by stamping the Diaper Pin stamp (A354) from DRS Designs repeatedly with light blue ink.  The Wrapped Warm and Snug sentiment (H131) is also by DRS Designs, which I split up by moving "congratulations!" to the bottom right corner of the card.

This card was decorated with baby appropriate elements: polka dot ribbon and bow, a real safety pin and some baby buttons!

SD33 Luck O The Irish!

Sunflowers and Dragonflies is getting ready for St. Patrick's day this week and we want to see your St. Patty's Day cards for our Luck O The Irish Challenge.  The S&D Store now carries Just Rite Products and we're using the Just Rite St. Patrick's Day seal for our challenge projects. 

Here's mine!

Yes, I know...Stop the presses! I actually got my sewing machine out for this one!!! It's been about a year since I've sewn on one of my cards.  It was actually quite easy and fairly quick! I'm not sure why I don't do it more often.  I'm going to leave the machine out to remind myself that I have it and perhaps I'll start using it more often. 

I split the Just Rite seal into 2 parts.  The sentiment part was heat embossed on green cardstock, and the image part was stamped on white cardstock and colored with Copic markers.  The paper is stuff I had laying around in my stash from GCD Studios and Imagination Project.  I also used my Martha Stewart Zig Zag punch.

A Little Monkey Advice!

Would you take this advice from these sweet little monkeys? 

Ahhh...if only the difficult things life throws at us could be this easy to deal with, right!?!?  I guess it's true when they say "pick your battles!"

These adorable guys, their advice, the background stamp and the grass stamp are all from DRS Designs.  I colored the Allie and Callie Monkeys (H868) with Copic Markers and then I used the masking technique to shade the grass and sky around them.  I used the Easy Grass Background stamp (E059) to add the grass blades to the grass.  The background design is the Vicki's Versatile Background stamp (H369). I love how it looks stamped with brown ink against the craft cardstock!  The sentiment, also stamped in brown ink, is the Never Pet Sweaty Things sentiment (F730).

Lots o Lady Bugs!

After all of my lady bug cards recently I think I'm just about lady bugged out!

I used 3 stamps from DRS Designs for this card: Lady Bug Birthday Greeting, the Lady Bug Background, and the Dots Background.  The Lady bugs were colored with Copic markers, and I used red ink to shade around the greeting.  That lady bug background is so much fun to play with! It won't be long before we see those lady bugs in real life...I would love to make a lady bug wish or two!

Time For Golf?

Well...as with anything, you just have to take it one day at a time!

Both the image and sentiment are by DRS Designs.  The Silhouette Male Golfer was heat embossed, and the "One Day At A Time" sentiment was stamped with Versafine ink.  Some cardstock punched with my Zig Zag Martha Stewart punch, cute plaid ribbon, and the black cardstock embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder all helped to add detail to this card.

Full Belly Jelly Bean!

Just Rite For Easter!

There's exciting news over at the Sunflowers and Dragonflies Store today...You can now find Just Rite products for sale there! You can see them all HERE as soon as they become available!

This week's blog challenge #32 is titled "Easter's On It's Way" and we want you to make Easter Projects for the challenge.  The S&D DT is using the Just Rite Easter Seals for our challenge projects.  This seal comes in a set of 10 seals, each a different occasion, such as Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's day, Mothers and Father's Day, Graduation, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  There's even a Birthday seal! 

Here's my challenge project!

I colored the Just Rite Easter image with Copic markers.  I cut it out and layered it using my Nestabilities and created an ATC with it.  Then I used the ATC as the focal point on my card, added some texture with a Cuttlebug Embossing folder and decorated it with some rhinestones and buttons!

Blooming With Good Health!

Unfortunately, time has slipped away from me again this week.  My stamping day with friends this past Sunday allowed me to finish some projects and start quite a few others that I have been working diligently to finish up this week.  I'm glad to report that I have one of them to show you today and I have projects all set to go for at least the next 5 days! Whoo Hoo!  :-)  I hope you're as excited as I am about that!

Both the image and Blooming With Good Health (G055) sentiment are by DRS Designs.  The Lady Bug with Flowers (G953) image was colored with Copic Markers and I used the masking technique to shade it with blue and green ink and mark off the white border around the edges. 

This sentiment really means a lot to me right now.  My grandpa has been in the hospital since this past Saturday and he is slowly getting better, but it will be quite a while before he's back on his feet again.  I know this card is a bit too feminine to send to him, but I was metally sending him some get well wishes and said a prayer for him while I created this card.   

Another reason why I'm loving this sentiment right now is because it mentions "blooming" and with a touch of Spring fever in our weather right now, I would be thrilled to see some blooms in my yard!  After a long and bitter cold Winter this year, temps in our neighborhood should reach approx. 50 degress this weekend! Perhaps it's true that Old Man Winter is soon going to go back to hibernating!

Little Bitty Lady Bug

Yesterday I met up with some friends for a much needed scrap day.  Stamping and papercrafting is so much more fun with friends!  I'd forgotten how much I learned when I get together with them.  (Or should I say how much they enable me!)  Usually I let my mouth get most of the work done, but this time my fingers actually did quite a bit as well.

This cute lady bug card is one of the projects I made.  The image, sentiment, and grass background are by DRS Designs.  I used this weeks CPS Sketch for the layout.  The image was colored with Copic markers and I sponged the grass and the area around the image with Martha Stewart Pigment ink. 

One of the things I learned from my friends is that you can use the Sizzix embossing folders with the Cuttlebug!!  (They use the same sandwich recipe too.)  I know what I'll be using some of my crafting coupons on this week! ;-)
