Today I am sharing the Mother's Day card I made for my mom. Once again, my inspiration was fueled by the latest DRS Designs blog challenge--Beautiful Backgrounds. It's been a while, but I decided to get out my alcohol inks and glossy card stock to make the background for this card. My mom's favorite color is pink and I knew that that's what I needed to use on this card. So I selected a variety of pink and purple alcohol inks along with a metallic silver to create my beautiful background!

Graduation season is upon us and the latest DRS Designs Blog Challenge, "Put It In Neutral" inspired me to create this Graduation Card. I know the Rest Best of Life Greeting (385F) was originally meant to be a birthday greeting, but I think it's the perfect graduation greeting too. I think many graduates are so happy and excited that the long struggles of school are behind them that graduation is the beginning of the rest of their living life, with a career ahead, we hope!
I started by stamping the Rest Best of Your Life Greeting with black ink on white cardstock. I used a rectangle Nestability die to cut it out and then sponged tan ink over top of it while it was still in the Nestie die. It was matted with black cardstock cut out with the scallop-edged, rectangle Nestie die. I then put that aside and created the background panel. Starting with ivory cardstock, I stamped the Interlocking Star Background (819H) in black ink and the Starry Background (124H) in tan ink. This panel was also matted with black cardstock cut out with the scallop-edged, rectangle Nestie die. Next, I created the A2 cardstock base from tan cardstock and adhered the star panel to the far left side as shown. To break up the light colors a little bit, I added a fishtail banner in dark brown cardstock that was embellished with some paper flowers and petite copper brad. This was adhered so that the straight edge was flush with the right side of the card front. The greeting panel was adhered in placed just off center and this clean and simple card was complete!

Of course, Spring is the perfect time of year for a floral challenge and you can find the Bloomin' Beautiful Blog challenge this week over at DRS Designs. One of the most prevalent flowers in my yard right now are dandelions, so I thought this spring card made with the Dandelion Puff (380G) was a perfect fit!
This card was started by heat embossing the Dandelion Puff in fine, black embossing powder on vellum. Then I sponged each of the puffs with yellow ink. The vellum was adhered to white card stock and a decorative border punch was used at the bottom of it before adding a matching yellow ribbon. Then this was adhered to turquoise card stock to create the card front. I stamped the upper portion of the Spring Is Creeping Verse (759H) in the lower right corner before adding the card front to a turquoise card stock base.
I hope you have more than dandelions blooming in your yard!

Since DRS Designs last release a few weeks ago, I've been working diligently on increasing my stash of sympathy cards. I've noticed that my birthday card stash has been depleted as well, and now it's time to replenish them. Here's a rather clean and simple one I made using the new Hey Cupcake Greeting (365B) and the Cherry Top Cupcake image (463E).
I colored the cupcake with Copic markers and shaded it with brown ink while it was in a Nestability die. I went for a realistic look by adding Diamond Glaze to the cherry to give it a shiny, wet look. (Sorry that's hard to see in this picture!) I matted it with red card stock, which really helped make the cherry stand out. Next, I worked on the sentiment banner and shaded it the same way as I did for the image and matted it with red card stock as well. I embellished the banner by adding a small paper flower and adhered it to the banner with a petite pink brad. I adhered 2 pink panels in the background and stamped them both with the Splatter Background (855H) and red ink and then assembled the card front as shown. Three red rhinestones placed in the upper right corner were the final touch. Cute and easy, don't you think? ;-)

Of course no one likes to have the need to make a Sympathy card but the best time to make them is when you don't need them. The new color challenge posted on the DRS Designs Blog today inspired me to add a Sympathy card to my collection for that exact purpose. Here's the challenge inspiration photo:
And here's my creation!
This layout was inspired by something I saw on Pinterest. I used an oval nestability die as a stencil and sponged the middle with pink ink to create the background for my card front. Next I stamped the Dandelion Puff (380G) in the center with black ink. I love how the shaded pink oval makes the silhouette "flower" stand out! It makes for a very elegant look and could be done using any color and still look great. The next step was to mat it twice, once with pink card stock and then again with black card stock. I added this to a gray, A2 card stock base. I added the sentiment by stamping the One Line "In Sympathy" Greeting (262B) on a gray banner that was matted with black. For a bit of dimension I adhered this with foam tape so that it popped up from the bottom of my image. I added 3 gray butterflies around the image and embellished them with a small pink rhinestone for a touch of color.

Ha! The latest release from DRS Designs includes this new Leonard Pig stamp and his grin is goofy as ever!! A Birthday Party Pig (354G) makes a delightful birthday card, which as you can see, that's what I'm showing off today. I created this for this week's DRS Designs Blog challenge, Birthday Blues. As the challenge states, it has 2 requirements--your project must be birthday related and use the color blue.
I colored this image using Copic Markers:
The pinks used here are RV10, RV02, and RV23.
I used B00, B02, and B05 for the blues.
E35 and E37 created the muddy ground he is standing on.
R27, R29 and R59 colored his balloon red.
Some shading was added around him using C1 and C3.
I made a layered tag to show off the Small One Line "Happy Birthday" (B250) sentiment. Since I mailed this off to a friend, I kept my embellishments flat and rather simple. I used an embossing folder on the top border for some texture, a border punch, some red satin ribbon, and 3 red rhinestones put the final touches on this card.

The Mother of one of my good friends recently passed and I sent my last sympathy card to her. I find it's always best to create sympathy cards when you don't need them, so now I'm in the process of replenishing my stash. DRS Designs latest release is perfect for this!

I made this card over the weekend using the Winged Angel (389H) and I paired it with the Angel By Your Side Greeting (390F). The Angel was colored with Copic Markers. I used B000, B02 and B05 for her gown and C1, C3, and C5 for her wings. E00 and E02 were used to create the "glow" coming from behind her.
I just love this pair of stamps! I think the Angel is such a peaceful image which is perfect for sympathy cards and the font used for the greeting is so elegant. You can't go wrong using this combo for a sympathy card! Usually I have a difficult time creating these types of cards, but everything about this card just fell into place. I guess these stamps really motivated my creative thought process and I hope they do the same for you!

Yeah, It's April! Another month away from the cold weather and icky illnesses. However, I know a few families that are experiencing another round of the flu right now. Hopefully the weather will warm up a bit and we can all open the windows and air out our houses from all of the germs that have been festering all Winter!
Here's the card I made for a friend who has the flu and coincidentally, it's appropriate for this week's DRS Designs Blog Challenge too. April Showers bring May flowers as they say, and I can't wait!
I used the Ducks Decoration (565H) and the Raindrop Background (1012H) to create the scene for this Get Well card. The image was colored with Copic Markers and SU! Marina Mist was the blue ink used to stamp the raindrops. The upper portion of the Under The Weather Greeting (047G) was stamped at the bottom of the image as shown. I added some coordinating banners to the left side of the card front and added a paper flower and a violet pearl to the center to dress it up. Despite the rain shown on this card, I hope it cheers her up!

A new challenge has just been posted on the DRS Designs Blog and the theme is "Pet Store."
I couldn't resist getting these adorable Playful Pups (1110H) inky! I used Copic Markers to color in the image and the light blue banner was embossed with a paw print embossing folder. I used the Hot Diggity Dog Birthday Greeting (732E) for the sentiment and stamped the Small Dog Print (1003A) just above it. It might be clean and simple, yet it's perfect for my dog-loving, co-worker whose birthday is next week! She's gonna love it and I hope you do too!

Woo hoo! New stamps will be available soon from DRS Designs! I've had the privilege of playing with them over the weekend and now I have a sneak peek to share with you. This card features the new Rest Best of Your Life Greeting (385F).
I love how this greeting says "Happy Birthday" without coming right out and saying it. I have a friend who literally dispises her birthday. She really has a hard time dealing with the fact that she's getting older and this type of greeting would be perfect for her. We use our birthdays as an excuse to "just get together" for dinner since we don't see each other very often and a birthday card like this that doesn't say "Happy Birthday" would compliment our meal nicely!
I made this greeting the focal point of my card front by stamping it in blue ink and then cutting it out with a Nestability die. Before I took it out of the die, I sponged the same blue ink it was stamped with around the edges of the die. I love the nice clean and framed look it creates around the stamp I want to show off. I paired it with some other great DRS stamps like the Argyle Background (438P) and the Argyle Diamond (441A), which always make a great background design. The other embellishments I used include some crimped cardstock, a scalloped border punch, white satin ribbon, a button and twine tied in a bow.

There's a new color challenge on the DRS Designs Blog this week. The inspiration photo is below and it's all about Spring with pinks and greens!
I thought the Easter Daffodil Oval (663L) was perfect for this color combo.
The entire image was colored with Copic Markers. I used RV000, RV02, and RV23 on the daffodils. The leaves were colored with G00, G02, and G05. Y17, Y15, and Y02 were used for the background. I used RV23 to colored the image divider and the bottom was colored with YG06.
I built up the card front by layering green and pink cardstock. The green panel was embossed for texture and the pink panel was layered with a scallop border and some light green and white twine tied in s knot. Finally, I added some pearls around the matted image and ta da, it was complete!

Hi Everyone!
With St. Patrick's Day right around the corner, I'm still playing with my shamrock stamps and I can't seem to get enough! Maybe it's the promise of Spring that gets me so excited about working with these stamps. I'm giddy that our weather seems to have made a turn for the weather and I can only hope that it keeps warming up from now on. Here's another card I made using one of my favorite stamps, DRS Designs new Four Leaf Clover Friends Greeting (284F). I love the assortment of greens on this card and I love when I can use stamped images as embellishments. Read on for my explanation...

I stamped the greeting on white cardstock and then used a banner die to cut it out. While it was in the die, I sponged green ink over the top of it to create the white border around it. Then it was matted with a dark green card stock banner. I colored the shamrocks from the Shamrock Swag (1080F) with Copic Markers and then fussy cut them out to embellish the top of the banner. For the backgrounds, I used stamps to create my own pattern papers. I started with the Lines O'Plenty Background (366H) on the white card stock and then distressed the edges was a little bit of green ink. It was then matted with light green card stock and next, the panel was adhered to the front of a dark green cardstock base. The next pattern paper I made was with the Shamrock Background (326H) which was stamped on a small panel of light green card stock. I added a white scalloped border to the bottom of it and then tied a green ribbon around the top before adhering it in place on the card front. I finished this card by adhering the banner in place on the right-hand side of the card front as shown.

That's exactly what I did for today's card. I used a button to embellish the bow I added to the bottom of my "Peep Garden." This Easter card uses the Simple Easter Bunny (347E), which I colored with Copic Markers. Then I fussy cut each of them out and arranged them as shown. I even made my own grass by stamping a piece of green card stock with the Easy Grass Background (059E).

Hi Everyone!
I colored the bunny
with Copic Markers--RV10, RV02 and
RV23. It was fussy cut out and then layered on light purple
cardstock that was embossed. I split up the greeting to accommodate my
layout. I love how the banner really emphasizes the word "PEEPS" in the
greeting, especially since it's a pun resembled by the bunny image. I love the font
too! It's sort of hard to see, but the yellow cardstock used for the card front
was stamped repeatedly with the Bunny Ears (307C) to add some
texture to the background. Some violet plaid ribbon, a decorative border punch
and a few white pearl embellishments made this card complete.
I'm so excited that Easter and
warmer weather is right around the corner!

Can you believe this is the last week of February....already?!?!? That means that March is right around the corner and perhaps at some point it will turn to Spring and we can put this deep freeze behind us! I'm done with winter, can you tell? LOL! I have a bad case of cabin fever and I'm itching to get outside with my boys! One good thing about the weather still being yucky is that I don't mind being trapped inside if I can spend the time stamping. Today I'm sharing an Easter card I recently made during one of our recent Arctic Blasts, where the wind chill was -30 degrees!
I started by coloring the Three Wooden Crosses (1116K) with Copic Markers. I used E31, E33 and E35 specifically. I cut the image out using an oval Nestability die. Then, I masked it with a Post-it Note and sponged it with light blue ink, layering the ink, so that it was heavier toward the bottom of the crosses. The ground beneath the crossed was sponged with brown in k in the same manner. The colored image was layered with a dark brown scalloped oval and set aside while I worked on the rest of my card.
For one side of the card front I used Kraft colored cardstock that was embossed with a wood grain embossing folder to match the texture of the wooden crosses in the image. I used smooth blue cardstock for the opposite side and embellished it with a dark brown decorative border to hide the seam between the 2 card front panels. Then I stamped the I Am The Resurrection Greeting (303D) on the lower portion of the left side of the card front. The matted image was adhered in place just off center as shown and then I embellished the upper left portion of the card front with 3 different colored banners and a button tied with a blue twine bow. This card was then completed by attaching the card front to an A2 dark brown cardstock base.
I'm really happy with how this turned out, but blue and brown are one of my favorite color combinations, so I might be a little biased. I hope you like it too!

It's so nice to be working on Spring themed cards--I'm officially done creating cards for Winter and all of the cold-weather months...I refuse!!! I'm looking forward to the sun and with that, I am beyond excited to share some St. Patrick's Day and Easter cards I've recently made with DRS Designs new stamps. Today's Shamrockin' St. Patrick's Day card was made for the color challenge posted on the DRS Designs Blog.
This is the inspiration photo and we are to use this display for the colors on our challenge card. Pretty, isn't it?
I used the Irish Inventory (344H) to create the background on my card front and the Shamrockin' Day Greeting (335F) was used as the focal point. While the greeting was in a Nestability die, I sponged yellow ink around the stamped design. I love how the white frame around it really makes the stamped image stand out. The shamrocks were colored with Copic Markers-- G00, G02, and G05.
The layout I used here wasn't the one I had in mind, but I really like the pop of yellow in the upper left corner. I embossed it and then inked the edges with dark yellow ink. I embellished it with some green rhinestones to make it complete. I added some sheer green and gold ribbon with a bow to the bottom and adhered the card front to a dark green A2 cardstock base.
I hope you'll get a chance to check out this color challenge. The possibilities are endless and what a great way to get in a Spring-like mood, plus winning free stamps isn't a bad idea either ;-)

DRS Designs new stamps and the new "Office Supplies" challenge on the DRS Designs Blog inspired me to create today's card. This card features the new Four Leaf Clover Friends Greeting (284F), which I love! Again, like yesterday's post, I've designed this card with a St. Patrick's Day theme but this sentiment isn't necessarily a St. Patrick's Day stamp! The Office Supplies challenge is exactly that--you are to use anything you would find in an office on your challenge entry. Items like staples, paperclips, postage stamps, etc all qualify. I chose to use a staple and a spiral paperclip.
Knowing that I wanted the Four Leaf Clover Friends Greeting to be the focal point of my card, I stamped it and then cut out with a decorative Nestability die to make it stand out. While it was in the die, I sponged over it with green ink and then outlined the die shape with a fine point black marker for definition.
Behind it, I stamped the Shamrock Vine Corner (1086G) on a small piece of green cardstock and rounded the corners. The corners were rounded on the black mat also. My card front was created using white cardstock, rounding the corners, embossing it, and then sponging green ink over the top. I adhered the stamped elements in place as shown, using foam tape to adhere the greeting in place for added dimension. The spiral clip was embellished with a small piece if ribbon tied around it before adding it to the top of the card front and 2 small ribbon loops were added to the bottom of the right hand side, and were adhered in place with a single green staple to match. The card was then adhered to an A2 dark green cardstock base, which measures 4.25" x 5.5."
