Birthday Funny

Hi Stampers!
Hope you're having a great week and I hope you enjoy this comical birthday card I have to share with you today!

My Grandma is fun and spunky and the pose that Frisky Florence (771K) is in totally reminds me of my Grandma singing and dancing! I debated and debated on how to color her up and then I remembered that my Grandma belongs to the Red Hat Society.  I decided to use my Copic Markers to give her a purple and red outfit. However, as you can see, I failed to give her a "red hat." It's probably because I'm certain that my Grandma wears a purple hat with a big red flower in it when she goes to her meetings. I must have been thinking of her once again!

While assembling my card front, I stamped the Large Original Plaid Background (641P) on light purple cardstock with dark purple ink to match. Then I layered it with red and a dark purple decorative border to hide the seam between the top and bottom layers of my card front. Then, I split up the Hanging Lower Birthday Greeting (1060G) to accommodate my layout. Gotta love that hilarious greeting--I know my Grandma would get a kick out of it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Anniversary

Oh my how time is just flying by! I can't believe another Thursday is upon us already! However, after a stressful week, I'm also grateful since I have this weekend off and I'm really looking forward to it!

So since it's Thursday that means I have another challenge card to share with you. This week's challenge on the DRS Designs Blog is called "So Charming." You must use a charm on your card this week and this Anniversary card is my challenge entry.

The Changing Love Greeting (574H) was stamped in Real Red on white cardstock. I used a decorative border punch to decorate the top and bottom edges of it. Lots and lots of pearls were added to the top. I added red ribbon tied in a knot and threaded red and white twine through the knot to hold my charm at the bottom. The pink layer I used for the card front was embossed with hearts except for the lower half inch. I used my Score-Pal to add a line to separate the hearts from the bottom of the card and stamped "Happy Anniversary" in the empty space to the right. A red rhinestone was placed on either side of it.  The card front was attached to a red A2 cardstock base.

DRS Designs is giving away a great prize this week.  Run over and check out all the details. We'd love to see what you create!

Missed Birthday

Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a nice weekend!
Today I have a fun and simple card to share with you. The Silhouette Balloon (491E) and the sentiment are by DRS Designs.

Basically I just stamped the Silhouette Balloon randomly with different colors of ink on a small piece of white cardstock. Then, to dress them up I added a matching tiny twine bow to each balloon except the center one.

The Lost Track Birthday Greeting (482F) is actually a 4 lined sentiment, but I used my stamp positioner to stamp the first 2 lines on a single line to fit the banner I added to the bottom of the card. On the inside I stamped the remaining portion of the greeting that reads "You've had so many I've lost Track!"  LOL! It's starts off looking like a sincere belated birthday card and then the inside slams them with a funny punch line!

I hope you like it!
Thanks for stopping by to check it out!

Rough and Tough Birthday

Hi Friends!
Sorry my posting hasn't been as frequent lately.  I've had some health issues and we are undergoing some renovations at our house all started by a leaky roof.  It's been a chore trying to keep my 2 year old away from the construction areas. So that being said, I haven't been stamping much lately nor have I been on the computer much either.  Luckily, I made this card a while ago for this week's "Lucky Stripe" challenge on the DRS Designs Blog.

I've used several stamps from DRS Designs on this card.  I started first by stamping Josephine The Bold (1037F) and coloring her with Copic Markers.  Since she looks so rough and tough, I paired her with a portion of the I Said So Mother's Day Greeting (277G).  After matting bother stamped pieces, I set them aside so I could work on my card front.

The top of the card front was stamped with the sentiment portion of the Birthday Candle Burst (451L). Then, below it I scored a single line and then stamped the Splatter Background (855H) with red ink.  I added 4 dark blue horizontal card stock lines across the bottom as shown and then adhered the matted image and sentiment in place.  The card front was attached to a 4.25" x 5.5" A2 dark blue cardstock base. The final touch was to added a red rhinestone on either side of "Make A Wish" to make it stand out.

Interested in winning a set of 3 coffee related stamps from DRS Designs? Well run over and check out their "Lucky Stripe" challenge post and enter your challenge card for a chance to win.

Thanks for stopping by and good luck!

Happiness

Whenever I make cards with butterflies they always tend to be blue or purple. Not really sure why, but as you can see today's card is no exception. I made this for the Monochromatic challenge that can be found on the DRS Designs Blog this week.

This layout is pretty simple and because I'm running short on time today, I'm not going to go into depth about the layout construction. But, if you have a question about please feel free to contact me-I'd be glad to explain it for you.

As for some of the not so obvious details...

  • The silhouette Butterfly Background was stamped with Versamark ink.
  • The Single Flying Butterfly was stamped, colored with Copic Markers and cut out twice.  The wing in the foreground was adhered with foam tape for dimension.
  • The banner that the Happy Thoughts Greeting was stamped on was also added with foam tape and it is embellished with a purple button threaded with twine tied in a bow.
  • 2 medium-sized pearls were added to the upper right corner for balance and a touch of elegance.
Hope you enjoyed seeing this today!

Wild Thing Monkey

Hi Friends!
I'm here to share a wild card with you today! I thought this adorable Michelle Monkey (871E) was perfect with the One Line Wild Thing sentiment (218B) and Vicki's Versatile Background (369H).

I started first by coloring the monkey image with Copic Markers. As you can see I used several colors of green to draw in grass blades.  I matted it on some die cuts and set it aside while I worked on the background.  I love how Vicki's Versatile Background looks like an animal print when stamped so that the pattern is vertical--definitely a great match with that sentiment! The beige card base measures 4.25" x 5.5" and I attached the card front to it as shown.  The matted image was adhered in the lower right corner and I added the sentiment banner with dimensional tape so that it popped up from the card front. Two little dark brown flags were added to fill in the empty space in the upper left corner of the card front to make it complete.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Let Freedom Ring!

How are you celebrating Independence Day this year? We are having family over for a BBQ and we are really hoping the weather will cooperate with our plans. We always set up tables to eat outside and the guys like to play horseshoes and ladder ball. The kids play with water balloons and swim in the pool and all of us ladies just sit back and mingle as we take it all in. We even have sparklers for everyone when the sun goes down. It's always a day full of fun!

Here's a card I made to celebrate the holiday. It was also made for this weeks Chocolate, Coffee, Cards Blog Challenge, 4th of July. I colored the Liberty Bell (800H) with Copic Markers and fussy cut it out. Then I adhered it on to a star embossed background. The pattern paper you see in the background was hand stamped using the Interlocking Star Background (819H) in red and yellow inks. The sentiment banner was stamped with "Let Freedom Ring" (802D) and I stamped the Interlocking Stars over top using just yellow ink.

Hope you all have a safe and wonderful 4th of July holiday!

Smiles,
Jennifer

Summer!

I know Memorial Day usually marks the beginning of Summer, but for us now that it's the 4th of July, Summer is truly here! Since Memorial Day the weather has been decent--temps in the 70's but we've also had tons of rain as if it's early Spring! However, as of this week true Summer weather has arrived--we have the hot 80 degree temps with the muggy, humid weather that we are used to for Summer.

Ironically, the challenge this week on the DRS Designs Blog is Summer Sun, Summer Fun!  DRS Designs is giving away a $10 store voucher to one lucky winner.  I don't qualify for the prize, but I played along anyways.  Here's my Summer Challenge card:

I created the beach scene first by stamping the starfish and the bucket from the 4 in 1 Beach Background (1099D).  Then, I masked them and stamped the Seagrass (128L) over top.  I sponged on brown ink for the sand and used Copic Markers to shade the sky and color the starfish, bucket and grasses.

In the center I added the Summer Wording Square (826G) that was colored with Copic Markers,  fussy cut, and adhered with foam tape for dimension.  I added yellow Stickles to the sun's rays for a bit of bling. Some yellow pearls and some twine wrapped around the top of the card front completed this A2 card nicely.

I hope you're having a fabulous Summer!

Happy Independence Day!

Can you believe it's practically the 4th of July already?  I'm just blown away by how quickly this year has gone by!

This was a fun card to make and I love the use of the light blue and red rather than Navy for this Independence Day card.  All of the stamps are by DRS Designs.  I started by stamping the Flag of Allegiance (449L) in red ink.  Then I masked off the edges with Post-It Notes and sponged blue ink around the inside edges and matted the image with red card stock.

I used light blue cardstock for the card front and created my own designer paper by stamping the Interlocking Stars Background (819H) with red and light blue ink.  I assembled it as shown and popped up the Happy Independence Day Greeting (822D) at the bottom of the stamped image. I placed 2 red rhinestones in the upper left corner to finish it up.

This was created for the 4th of July theme on the Chocolate, Coffee, Cards Challenge Blog. DRS Designs is giving away a $10 store voucher for this challenge. So create a 4th of July card and then run over there and link your card up for a chance to win!

Hope you all have a wonderful holiday!

When Life Gives You Lemons

Hi Everyone!
Here's another card I made for this week's Things That start with "B" challenge on the DRS Designs blog. The Lemonade image (121H) depicts a refreshing Summertime "Beverage", right? Well, since Beverage start's with "B", it qualifies for this week's challenge!

I simply colored both images with Copic Markers and paired them with the Life Gives you Lemons (110K) sentiment.  I altered this stamp a bit to accommodate my layout by leaving out the lemons and using the shot glass and salt shaker part of it as an embellishment. As you can see, I've also split up the wording.

Hurry, you have until 6pm ET today to enter for your chance to win a great package of stamps from DRS Designs!

Thanks for stopping by!
Good Luck!

Smiles,
Jennifer
