Have a Super Sweet Christmas!

Stamps: DRS Designs- E140 Super-Sweet Christmas Greeting, E134 Candy Cane Christmas Critter, H015 Interlocking Snowflake Background

Happy Monday!
Well, another holiday came and went, and it's back to work today...but not for me! Today is my Saturday and I'm looking forward to staying home today.  I have a few things on my to-do list, but after a hectic working weekend, I'm going to try to chill out today!

Today I'm showing off this cute Candy Cane Christmas Critter from DRS Designs. (Say that 3 times in a row! LOL!)  I colored it gray Copic markers and used a Prismacolored pencil to add the pink on his ears and cheeks. I stamped the sentiment with SU! Real Red ink and used a Prismacolor Marker to doodle around the image.  I used the Interlocking Snowflake Background to create my own snowflake designer paper and used some snowflake punch outs from a EK Success Border punch as embellishments.  A spiral clip and some ribbon made this card complete!

Thanks for checking in today.
  until next time...

Jennifer

Holiday Star!

I have an embossed Holiday greeting card for you today.  It's been a while since I've gotten out my embossing powders--it was fun to play with them again today!

The center image is the Large Filagree Star by DRS Designs. I heat embossed it with red embossing powder--the center was created by heat emossing the same image on yellow cardstock and then I used a Nestability circle to cut out the center of the star and placed it on the main image. I also used DRS Designs Happy Holiday sentiment that I split up along each side of the star.

Here's a close up of the center detail.

Stamps: DRS Designs- L1113 Large Filigree Star, D072Vertical Happy Holidays
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Rubber Stampede Embossing Ink
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by The Paper Company& American Crafts
Accessories: Creative Beginnings Red Embossing Powder, Nesties, Martha Stewart Star Border Punch
Finished Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

I'm officially heading out to the stores today--the first time since the holiday hustle and bustle has begun.  I'm a little nervous, and eager to get home and stamp!

Well, Ta Ta For Now!

Jennifer

S&D Challenge #19 Polka Dots

Happy Saturday and welcome to the 19th Sunflowers and Dragonflies Blog Challenge! Were challenging you to use Polka Dots this week!

For my challenge card, I used the S&D Amber Image.  I colored her with Bic and Copic Markers, cut her out, and adhered her onto polka dot Christmas Designer paper from Imaginisce.  After a bunch of matting and layering, adding some embellishments and ribbon, my Polka Dot challenge card came together rather nicely! I like to think of this card as "Merry Christmas from Amber!"

For participating in our Polka Dot Challenge this week, Sunflowers and Dragonflies is giving away the White Rabbit and Chesire Cat stamps from the Alice in Wonderland Stamp set.

If Candy Corn Was On The Menu...

...would it be your favorite veggie?  For all you candy corn lovers out there, this is for you! Imagine what the Indians and Pilgrims would have thought if someone brought a bucket of Candy Corn to Thanksgiving dinner! LOL!  What a sight!

I made this card using images from DRS Designs.  The Empty Wooden Bucket (H114) was colored with Prismacolor Pencils and blended with Gamsol.  I put a little slit at the brim of the bucket with a craft knife and filled it with Candy Corn which was stamped and cut out from the Candy Corn Background Stamp (H633).  Stamping the candy corn background in orange ink is a quick and easy way to make a great background for any project! After stamping all you have to do is color the bottom of each candy corn piece with a yellow marker and it is all ready to go!   You can see what I mean on my Candy Corn ATC's I made back in September. I added the sentiment E126, "My Favorite Vegetable is Candy Corn" to complete my card.

Well, this is it for me today.  I have a long "to-do" list for tomorrows big day, but not becuase it's the holiday, but becuase I have to work 12 hours tomorrow! I have to get everything done at a reasonably time so that I can be in bed early.  I have to be at work at 6am! Yuck!

Thanks for visiting today.
I appreciate you stopping by and for all of your wonderful comments!  I enjoy reading each one!

Christmas Joy and the Gingerbread Boy!

DRS Designs has come out with some of the neatest stamps to pair up with your Marvy Uchida punches. You can see what I mean on this project I have for you today...

Stamps: DRS Designs- L120 Holly 3" Giga Circle, E040 Gingerbread Man, G130 Yesteryear Christmas Greeting

The Holly border image around the Gingerbread boy image fits perfectly inside the Giga Circle punch. Unfortunately, I don't have many of the Marvy punches, but these stamps also work well with Nestabilities too! That's how I used them here! Want to see more like this one? You can find find the rest of DRS Designs frames stamps HERE.

The Holly Giga Circle was stamped in green ink and I used a red marker to color in the dots between each of the holly leaf sets. The gingerbread boy was colored with marker as well. All of the wording on this card is all from the same sentiment. I just split up the Yesteryear Christmas greeting to fit the layout, and embellished the card front with Poinsettia paper flowers and a holly corner punch.

Don't forget DRS Designs is sponsoring this week's CPS Sketch Challenge. Check out this post to see all the details and what kind of DRS goodies you can win for participating!

Kraft Christmas with CPS!

It seems as though I've come down with a sinus infection and I just didn't have the energy to do much yesterday. I did the best I could to make it a stamping day by working with this weeks CPS sketch.
DRS Designs is their sponsor this week and here's this weeks sketch challenge.

Here's what I came up with for the challenge...

Stamps: DRS Designs- F002 Silhouette Holly, K286 Large Script Merry Christmas
Ink:  SU! Real Red, Glorious Green
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by The Paper Company, American Crafts
Accessories: Nestabilities, EK Success Corner Rounder, Ribbon by Bobbie M. Designs, Cuttlebug and Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, brads by The Paper Studio, Hero Arts paper Poinsettias and adhesive pearls.
Finished Card Size: 7.25" x 5"

I used the Holly Silhouette (F002) from DRS Designs to create my own designer paper.  I really enjoyed stamping on the kraft cardstock rather then white this time.  It is a nice change, and I often run right to white cardstock when I want to create my own background--I have to keep reminding myself how elegant kraft cardstock can be!  I hope to use the scraps on another project since I have quite a bit left over from this card--fair warning you may see this handmade background again very soon!

Be sure to run over to the CPS blog and add your challenge card to win some great prizes from DRS Designs.

Hope you have a wonderful Holiday week!

Smiles,
Jennifer

S&D18 Anyone For Chocolate Cake?

Ummm! Chocolate cake is my favorite, and I've created it for today's Sunflowers and Dragonflies 18th blog challenge!

The theme this week is "Let Them Eat Cake!"

It's all about cake--any kind, any flavor, and for any occasion! Cupcakes work too!

For my challenge card this week, I used Sunflowers and Dragonflies 4th of July cake image & created a chocolate birthday cake instead. I colored the image with Copic and Bic Markers and used a yellow glitter pen to give the cake accents and the stars a bit of sparkle. I sponged yellow ink around it to highlight it. The designer paper is from my DCWV Glitter Stack, and the Impression Obsession Sentiment was stamped with SU! Pixie Pink.

Participating in this weeks "Let Them Eat Cake" challenge will enter you in a drawing to win this set of Cupcake stamps from Sunflowers and Dragonflies!

Deadline for this challenge is next Friday November 27th.

To be eligible for this weeks prize drawing, please post a direct link to your challenge project from either your blog or an online gallery to the Sunflowers and Dragonflies Blog, specifically on the Challenge #18 Blog Post, so we can view it. If you upload to an online gallery, please use the keyword S&D18.

Thanksgiving Harvest Wheat

Stamps: DRS Designs- K137 Bunch of Wheat, E050 Arc Thanksgiving

I just can't believe that the US Thanksgiving holiday is 1 week away! This year has just flown right by! Best part about the holidays coming up is creating all kinds of holiday cards to share with friends and family. I created this Thanksgiving card using the new Bunch of Wheat image from DRS Designs. I colored it with marker and inked around the image with light orange ink. I also used DRS Designs Thanksgiving Arc sentiment so that it curved around the image. I embellished the card with a leaf brad, 2 square brads and some coordinating ribbon.

Since the holidays are all about giving, I just posted some Christmas Blog candy to give away to one of my lucky readers! I'd love to see you win! Please make sure to see what my blog candy post is all about by clicking here.

Isn't this shoe house image from DRS Designs adorable? It was such a fun image to color! When I first received it in my new batch of rubber, I wondered what I was going to do with it...but as my creative juices started to flow I knew this would make an excellent "new home" card to accompany any house warming gift! Wouldn't you agree?

Stamps: DRS Designs-L1069 Shoe House
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by The Paper Company, American Crafts

Christmas Funny!

Stamps: DRS Designs- G129 Four Stages of Christmas, P631 Open Plain Background

LOL! How funny & TRUE is this!?!? It's like the facts of life simply stated right down to the truth!

This is one of the new stamps from DRS Designs. I also used DRS Designs Open Plaid Background stamp to create my own pattern paper for this card. Over all it was rather quick & easy to make. I'll be making more of these cards to send out to my friends for the holidays!

Well, I hope to be blogging more regularly now, as things here at home have quieted down a bit for me lately. Over the last few days I have spent quite a bit of time in my stamping room and I have lots of projects to show you. My "goal" is to show you a new project every day this week, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I actually stick to it! :-)

Thanks for visiting today!
I hope you have a wonderful Monday!

Oh Canada!

The Sunflowers and Dragonflies Creative Designs challenge theme for this week is Oh Canada! We want you to create projects with a Canadian theme, and anything goes! Get out your Maple leaf stamps & start stamping!

My challenge project uses the jolly Canada Beaver. I colored him with Bic & Copic Markers and layered him using cardstock cut with my Nesties. I once again used the Cut-Out Technique around his tail.

Don't have any Canadian Stamps? Then we want you to think out side the box as I did with this card below. I used a maple leaf cut-out and inked around it while it was in a Nesties die to create the background.

Please post a direct link to your challenge project from either your blog or an online gallery to the Sunflowers and Dragonflies Blog, specifically on the Challenge #17 Blog Post, so we can view it. If you upload to an online gallery, please use the keyword S&D17.

This week's prize is a $10 Gift Certificate to Sunflowers and Dragonflies on line Store! Deadline for this challenge is next Friday November 20th.

Make sure to check out the other S&D DT members to see what they created for their Oh Canada Challenge project!

Santa In Your Stockings!

Have you seen the new stamps that DRS Designs just released?

One of them is this funny sentiment that I used on my card for this weeks "Repeatedly Useful" challenge on the Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential Blog. The Spotlight Divas want you to use the same stamp more then once on the same project. As you can see I used the Santa Hat 3 times, but I also used the 4 in 1 Snowflake stamp repeatedly as well.

Stamps: DRS Designs- B022 Santa Hat, F118 Santa in Your Stockings Sentiment, D096 4 in 1 Snowflakes
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, SU! Real Red
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by The Paper Company, American Crafts
Accessories: Bic Markers, Nesties, Cuttlebug and Cuttlebug Embossing Folder, Ribbon by Ribbon Fx, Brads by The Paper Studio
Finished Card Size: 5.5" x 6"

I just love this sentiment..."Santa~Just another Man trying to get into your Stockings!" Too cute & too funny!

This isn't your typical Christmas card, but definitely one I could send to my goofy friends--they'd get a kick out of it!

Jennifer

Sports Rock!

I'm still trying to get back into my daily routine since my Great-Aunts passing. Thank you all for all of your caring comments and prayers you left me earlier this week. I greatly appreciate all of the support. Today, I'd like to welcome you back to another Sunflowers & Dragonflies Blog Challenge!

This weeks challenge is all about Sports! So, get out those stamps and embellishments that have footballs, baseballs and bats, Hockey pucks and sticks etc. and come play along with us this week.

For my challenge project this week, I used the Sunflowers and Dragonflies Fishing Beaver stamp. I'm featuring the sport of Fishing this week!

Stamps: Sunflowers and Dragonflies Creative Designs- Fishing Beaver
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Martha Stewart Pigment Ink
Paper: Smooth white cardstock by Office Depot, Colored Cardstock by The Paper Company, American Crafts, and Bazzill
Accessories: Bic & Copic Markers, Cuttlebug and Cuttlebug Tiny Bubbles Embossing Folder, Ribbon by Michael's Dashes, Dots, and Checks, and Ribbon Fx, SU! Photo Corner Punch, Brads by All My Memories, Spiral Clip by The Paper Studio
Finished Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"

It's been quite awhile since I've played with the Splitcoast weekly sketch challenge. For the sake of ease transitioning into my daily routine I let it work for me this week and was able to create this card rather quickly using SC253 for my layout.

The Fishing Beaver image was colored with Bic & Copic markers. I sponged blue ink around the upper portion of the image for the sky & green ink on the bottom for grass. I used marker to draw in the blades of grass.

To be eligible for this weeks prize drawing, please post a direct link to your challenge project from either your blog or an online gallery to the Sunflowers and Dragonflies Blog, specifically on the Challenge #16 Blog Post, so we can view it. If you upload to an online gallery, please use the keyword S&D16.

This week's prize is a $10 gift certificate to the Sunflowers and Dragonflies Store!
Deadline for this challenge is next Friday November 6th.

Good Luck & Have a wonderful weekend!

Heavy Heart

It's a sad day for us today. At the age of 93, my Great-Aunt Joann passed away yesterday morning. I am a little teary, but I am more relieved than anything else. I feel as if a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I'm honestly happy that she's no longer suffering. It really has been a long battle, and her passing is such sweet sorrow. I'm glad she only spent the last month of her life in the nursing home & not a day longer.

Here she is with my sister and I on her birthday this past February. Thanks again to all who sent her cards and helped make that birthday extra special.

Of course under the circumstances, I won't be blogging again until later this week.
Please keep Aunt Joann & my family in your prayers.
